Beautiful film making and what a gorgeous place. Watching this on a cold, wet Sunday morning in Yorkshire, England and just transported away to another land watching your videos. Patagonia added to the bucket list. Loving the trout too - where I live a 12” wild brownie is a decent fish and an 18” fish a once a year monster. Keep it up guys - it’s like meditation on steroids.

@@fabmason streamer set up was the same that day. We added in a type 6 10" sec sinking line on another day of that trip on a 7wt rod.
That take the film starts with is the stuff of dreams!! Fantastic cinematography!! I could watch this everyday and never tire of it. The way the beauty of nature there was captured I believe makes this the very best film of this type I have ever seen.
So glad you were "there" and enjoyed this one. These are the treasures of being able to do trips, enjoy filming as we go so we can share :)
@@jensenflyfishing my one regret of the twenty years I spent fishing/guiding on the world's oceans is that I wasn't a better photographer. The work here plus the exceptional drone footage combined with the natural beauty of Patagonia makes this the single best of its kind I have seen. How do you not have a million subs?? Lol
I have been waiting with anticipation assuming you would do a video with substantial footage of the spring creek. You didn't disappoint. Your spectacular footage captures not just the fishing, but the greater experience of the entire area. It is so great to relive that experience through you videos. Your focus on "immersion" hits the spot as well as your great casting!
:) That's perfect to hear. That's exactly what this video was going for. It was daunting to bring all the video footage in to the timeline in the editor for this... 36 1/2 hrs of footage! Jeepers. Gulp! But 4 days at 15 hrs a day and a vision to put everyone watching right there with us to experience it helped guide the edits. :) So good to hear you enjoyed it.
That intro compilation of straight up monsters taking your dry flies may be the most phenomenal shots I’ve seen in any TH-cam video (professionally shot or not). You just gained a sub. Keep me coming!

Great Angling and camera footage. Love how you care for the trout once landed and returning them. Brownies very similar to our local Scottish Brown's, with the red & black spots and golden bellys. Scottish Brown's in Patagonia 💪👏👏🎣🎣
Definitely "fish first" in our handling of them. I believe that some of the genetic markers do lead back to Scotland, but the definition and size of some of those spots on the brown trout are truly remarkable. 😀

We're using a drone, a mirrorless camera with a few lenses and a GoPro

I don’t know if you meant to cast your leader literally perfectly to fit the contour of the water, bank with grass and the weed bed on the left.
But something tells me you did.
Yes, very much so. It's those little, tiny reaches that make all the difference between just casting to the water and casting purposefully in order that the line doesn't get hun up in the weeds - hook reach it so you can bring it back through, not get hung, and give yourself another chance, another cast, without disturbing the environment. As it turns out that is often a huge part of the game on these waters: reduce impact, slow the pace, slide things delicately with an eye to catching but all the while ensuring you have another chance. :)

It was a wonderful trip for sure and so incredibly immersive and begging for endless camera work (which I certainly did far more camera time than rod time and let Amelia just enjoy being there on the water).

Rivers that look like that in New Hampshire would be more likely hold Bass not trout. If I was a tourist without a guide down there I would walk right past that water looking for trout.

Honestly very refreshing to see that Patagonia has some fish under 18”. Thank you
We'd suggest the majority of trout are smaller than 18" tbh. The messaging on the internet wants it to be different but peak of season resident trout across the different water types... 85% are below 18" from what we've seen thus far in 2 1/2 months in Chile and 1 1/2 months in Argentina to date. We all want there to be gullible, willing BIG trout but that's the exception, not the norm.

sure, if you want to compare. As we've told everyone the location is about the location, the water and setting. The fish are not the real draw - while good fishing the entirety of being immersed in that environment is what makes it special :)
Yes ...superb music ......March in western Wisconsin ....has to be wonderful to have the $$$$$ to travel to the bottom of the world......during December January .....etc.....
Oh, this was a working trip! On one hand it looks free and wonderful, if you knew the work that went into this whole effort.... an exchange of time to avoid winter at home. 🍻

We run an Olympus 14 - 150 mm and a 75 - 300 mm (micro 4 thirds lenses)
Rich folks paradise, a reality for them, a dream for us. How's y'all's bluegill fishing going? Lol!
Or for poverty-line content creators like ourselves, you find a way to bust your ass off and trade time for opportunity and live the life you want! :) Riding the bikes to the local in the snow has been fun at home this spring :)

What kind of camera are you using to get the fish eating the fly. I have a GoPro hero 7 but I don’t think it’ll capture that good of quality
