I was 18 when You Are The Quarry came out. I think that and the one from about 10 years before (the one with now my heart is full) add a lot to his body of work in terms of being complete pieces of work - like thematic albums - I think it shows some growth. Because The Smiths are a band I like rather than love maybe it is easier to be a bit more objective - I think any rock artist that keeps making passable work after their 20s adds to their legacy. People only remember 1 or 2 songs by Lou Reed or James Brown or Ray Davies - but their real fanbase is much smaller but still tend of thousands of people who’ve heard everything
I think there must be a new member or two because there’s definitely a lot more of energy I. The performance regardless of how fast this version is. Or maybe the drummer just really likes this song
Conheci Smiths por um amigo TJ que não podia idolatrar ninguém mesmo que na música, comecei a ouvir e passei a idolatrar o Moz, acho incrível sua obra e o amo muito!
Morrissey is a human enigma. He's not gay, he's not straight, he hates England, he loves England, he hates The Smiths, he loves the The Smiths, he hates politics, he's political....everything he does is a complete opposite of everything he does. I still love the guy though....he's just complicated.
yeah I was trying to play along to it and I thought i was out of tune, think they're playing with a capo on 3rd or actually just tuned their guitars up.
The guitar is a little off putting cuz Johnny Marr is a genius and it's just nowhere near. But Morrissey is a good singer to credit him, he smashed his part.
7 dates in Europe prior to this gig may have affected my view but I preferred the drummer before this guy, more bottom end. This sounds very very tinny to my ears? Pretty sure the drummer before was Matt Walker
Dude, you're so right. Without Johnny, Morrissey just can't do The Smiths. Go listen to Johnny do Still Ill and you'll be pleasantly surprised with how Marr covered it. I've gotten to a point now where I'll always love Moz, but Marr is the best in my eyes.
I don't really compare The Smiths to Johnny's solo career or to Morrissey's solo career. Those are three very different entities. The Smiths were electric. They had a handful of years together. It was groundbreaking. I adore Morrissey for the music he's giving solo. I adore Johnny for all the music he's giving too. But wait...these guys were once together in the most influential band after The Beatles? YES! I remember hearing about them as a pre-teen. The cool kids in school made everyone listen to The Smiths. I don't compare them because The Smiths were THE SMITHS, and they broke up a very long time ago. Nowadays, I celebrate The Smiths. I seem to be the odd one out. I'm weird that way. Am I still ill?
Morrisey has fans everywhere, of every nationality, of every race and creed, and he loves all his fans equally. Music is universal, and isn't limited by nationality or race. The feelings and experiences he sings about appeal to people all over the world.
Sorry I'm late to this conversation, but yes. Morrissey should retire. If you ask me, Quarry was his last good album. I love Moz, but i think he's made his point, and now he's dragging it on for God knows why. It's sad to see Morrissey like this.
Groovin' bass line, hard hitting drums, close rendition of Johnny Marr's guitar stylings, and Morrissey singing... great live version!
Singing these lyrics way back in the 80s. Thank you, Morrissey.
MORRISSEY NEVER DIES
Morrissey en los angeles diciendo gracias en honor a su público latino no tiene precio!de lo demás se encarga mastercard!!amo a este hombre! !!!!
I love morrissey man, but nothing will ever beat the smiths.
But he cannot cling to those old dreams anymore :/

The rhythm guitarist whoever he is like dang a lot of complexity built into something relatively simple. I really dig that.
Good lord man, are we watching the same video?
mozz was the heart.
I was 13 when this came out I'm now 48 love the smiths /Morrissey. Always x
I was 0 when this came out. Love the smiths

This band brings a lot of power and energy to Morrisseys songs. Epic
Wonderful frantic band 😀

There is nothing like Morrissey!
❤
Sick ass opening. Instruments were tuned pretty close to the recording with a bit more energy in the guitar and drums
Uma das melhores, ótima interpretação... com sangue nos olhos! Morrissey sempre...🌹🙏😊
I love Morrissey, both solo and in the Smiths !!!!
my favourite song
I'd say you were never happier to sing this song!
Realmente pasarán los años y te seguiré admirando. Grande Mozz
Fantastic performance!
He used to be a frustrated young man. Now he’s a frustrated old man. So really the only thing that’s changed is time has passed.

He's so fantastic!!! Love him ❤❤❤
I wish Morrissey sounded like he did from 1979-2013. Was perfect
To be fair he has aged ALOT and had throat cancer. Still sounds great considering all that
Superb tune from a musical genius........!!!!!
Am I seeing this right? Three guitarists to do what Johnny Marr used to do on his own "in the old days..."
Matt Micucci Yes. Marr is a godlike genius.
To me the they can't do what Johnny does, Johnny has feeling, expression and this sounds tame.
Johnny marr had a second guitarists to back him up but your right these new guys need 3
@@Starkman1992 he only had a second guitarist for the queen is dead tour
Listened to this song numerous times and I’ve still not heard “In the old days”
I love it..Remember my teenage

Morrissey really did land on his feet after the smiths.
Due to sheer talent and his charisma. No other performer has affected me like Morrissey. ❤

i feel like this video has been sped up, presumably to avoid copyright. just listen to the pitch.
you're an idiot
You are right .

Better, if anything, than the original.

He should give it up
Gloria Swansong in HD
I prefer the bleeding version of this song
Still is a real great song and this performance is good but missing a mar touch
so different voice...
He really needs a new band.
Is that a paint brush?
Just a retreating cold sore actually 😉
no one can reach jonny marr..
Why does he have a colostomy bag?
Sounds almost like a metal song...
Too fucking fast by a mile ! Did the drummer have a promise on or what ??!!
The drummer fucked it up
The smiths will always be better than him solo, I know I'm gonna get hate on this thread lol

Years of Refusal was awesome and I really liked World Peace. I think he should keep going. I and many fans are still listening.
Absolutely fucking horrible.
Awful. A terrible arrangement, too fast, and the three guitarists get in the way of each other - ruining one of Marr's best riffs.
It just wasn’t like the old days anymore
