@Nelson Cobb, It would be a great follow up if you would do a video on how you raised that transome!

I have a Bass Tracker with a slight V-bottom to it.
I have to run it wide open just yo keep it up on plane.
I raised the motor up one bolt hole and just about have it set as to what is in your video.
Will this allow me to not run it wide open keep it up on plane and save some fule?

Hi friend, I'm from Brazil, here the jet outboards have only just arrived, we have no information about them, I have a 40hp 2-stroke jet, but it doesn't perform well... my aluminum boat measures 1.20m in bottom width, length 5.5m. With the adjustment like your video it catches air, I lowered it but it doesn't go above 30km/h. boat weight approximately 130kg. Could you tell me if the speed would be the same?

I've got an old boat a Lowe's Little Jon Boat old Evinrude on it 115 horse I have it just like you said in the video and I'm sucking air when I turn when I'm going straight it seems to get a good bite and suction

Moving it down a tiny bit could help but Man it could be the center rib creating turbulence. With a hull designed for jet outboards, the center rib should stop 2-3’ from the back of the boat.

Awesome video thanks for the pointers. The part I don’t understand is do you want that measurement you showed with the straight edge when it is trimmed all the way down? Or do you want that position when you trim up meaning it’s lower UNTIL you trim up when you’re accelerating?

Appreciate it! That should be checked trimmed all the way down! Sorry for the confusion!

Thanks for the video. I'm shopping to replace my 3 cylinder 2007 carbureted Mercury 90/65.
If I can find a decent deal, I hope to buy the exact motor.
It looks much larger than my 2007. I'm going to check the weight specs one more time after seeing this video. Did you spend over 9000?
Thanks again for the look see.

Your welcome! You can get the 115/80 merc and it’s the same motor as the 90/65 just different power outputs. It’s 9k

Due to the angle of my transom, my foot is 7 inches behind the transom. Should the leading edge of shoe be 1.5 inches above the bottom edge?

Man I’m not sure of the exact measurement for your boat but that sounds close. Mine when trimmed up where the shoe is flat. It’s almost flat with the bottom of the boat

Actually, you need to trim out that motor and then raise it up. The main housing of the Jet needs to sit flat allowing the intake to use it’s natural pickup angle.

Nice! I should if trimmed up the motor in the video to show were ours sits! Its about perfect!

so if my jet is 6 inches away from behund the transom, then i need to raise it around 1.5 inches?

I have a 25 hp mercury jet on a Lowe 14 48 that I just bought and after watching this video I realiize my intake is 6 inches lower than the bottom of the boat. Could you point me in the direction of something factory made that will add the 6 inch lift I need for my existing transome? Thanks!

Awesome, jets are a lot of fun! So we had our transom built up by WJR customs in Arkansas. But an easy solution for yours is to buy a manual jack plate. Once you get it adjusted up, you don’t have to mess with it again!
