I owned two of the TTartisan 27mm and they were both terrible with major issues. One had the gold pins bent and won’t update. The other one had vignette so bad it wasn’t usable. My favorite pancake is the underrated 20mm 2.8 for apsc. Very sharp and compact with fast autofocus.
Great job on the video Mark! Thanks for making it. Yesterday, I wrote down the name of your channel for my customer at the camera store. His name was Mark, too. So if you get a new subscriber named Mark, you can thank me for that.
Really wish they'd have an APS-C version around 16mm since there's a lot of smaller bodies to really make a stealthy build with a pancake like that. Hell, a micro four thirds version on something like a Lumix G100 or even a throwback in the GX850 would be even better
They need to make a 18mm full frame version of this small lens to use on APS-C it would be wider view (28mm equivalent) and very compact on a crop sensor camera. 42mm equivalent is still very practical angle of view but i prefer wider for travel purpose.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis White for the ZV-E1 and Black for the A7CR. Peter Gregg will get the same for his Eleanor and New A7C2 and MrCameraJunkie will get a black one for his A7C2. Dude is there a way to AWB LOCK on zv-e10? I cannot believe my old canon elph had that PRETTY HANDY option when filming on changing environments outside and this one does not! I just cannot believe, I hope I just couldn't find it.
@@SneakyCaleb For me the jury is still out on that one, but it is $30 more and f/2.8-16 so in some cases better than the kit lens. The big advantage of the pancake lens is that it is full frame.
How I wish I can use this on my ZV-E10 mark 1. However, since it is fixed f4.5 and zve10 has no IBIS. I think capturing a sharp photo is struggle. specially indoors. :(
Been thinking of buying this lens for my a6700. But here in Finland its 120€ and I think that is bit much for a lens that I wont use for professional work. So havent bought it yet.
Hi there, Only main feature it seems to be the size of thingy, but in terms of quality, a standard lens 16-50mm can get a better quality at 28mm with less f-stop. So, i don't think this lens will have succes, if it would be 2.8 or 2.4 f-stop would be really cool at that price.
... wut? Are you a robot? This costs half the used price of the Sony 28 f2 and is sharper at f4.5 than the Sony is at 4.5. Also, he SAID it's sold out everywhere. You probably won't be able to buy this until 2025 because it's so in demand.
I literally can't find a reason NOT to buy this lens (aside from consumerism, GAS, hoarding and unnecessary spending, but that's whole other discussion)
You didn't mention the possibility to damage the lens and possibly even your camera's sensor with that lens. Viltrox stated so on their Indigogo for it. If you turn your camera on and the lens cap is closed, it can lead to damage. "First, Sony cameras perform a focus travel calibration from the closest to the farthest distance when powered on. This 28mm F4.5 lens uses an external focusing design, meaning the entire lens group moves back and forth to focus. In addition to protecting the lens, the lens cap also helps fix the focusing group. If the camera is powered on without removing the lens cap, the body will attempt to calibrate the focus travel, which may cause potential anomalies. It is important to note that while this action may not immediately damage the lens, there is a potential risk involved. We believe it is our responsibility to be transparent and inform you of the potential risks associated with this method of use. However, we do recommend this approach to help ensure the lens has a longer lifespan."
"Since Sony cameras automatically adjust the lens during startup, failing to open the lens cap can prevent the autofocus function from activating. Prolonged use without fully opening the lens cap can also damage the lens motor, may cause auto focus function problems" This is a serious design flaw.
@@EVERLAST223 it won’t damage the camera. Sony asks you to put in a lens cap when doing pixel mapping. Sensor cleaning modes don’t require a lens. You can also your camera in in pitch black - there are many times a cameras lens is blocked from light. And in regard to the lens, Viltrox is being extra cautious because has tiny focus motors
@@EVERLAST223 I own this lens. No it will NOT damage the camera's sensor. The reason Viltrox wants you to open the lens cap before turning on the camera is that the actual lens protrudes beyond the lens caps during start up.

Man, if these AF lenses get any smaller, I might finally have a use for all those old CD wallets in the attic that I've refused to throw out.
🤣
seems like an awesome lens for a gimbal weight, awesome default lens for video.
I'll say it as often as I have to: you give so much value. So, I bought the lens through your link. ;)
That's kind of you top say and do!! I appreciate it.
You are the best Mark
Wow that is tiny! I need one that’s 18mm please :) might need to try their small 20mm but love the pancake lenses!

Thanks Mark!

It's so small!!
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Wonder if they will come out with any of these tiny lenses made for the ASP-C cameras? Good Show

I bought 5 of these lenses (2 White and 3 Black color), but have to wait for Customs before I can get my hands on them. Cheers!
5!!

this is my second lens after using viltrox 20mm since July. image quality is more vintage with veiling flares

Hello Mark did you ever compare the Zv-E10 Ii and the zv-1 ii? It is a very odd thing but I am looking at them both. Trust ya a bit

Is the Fuji x mount release announced at all?
not yet

Noob question: how much better is this lens compared to the ZV-E10's kit lens?
@@alijafri2022 the kit lens is better. This is a fun tiny lens

I’ve only spent $39 on dirt so far
$60 to go for official dirt
