@@inthemix if you recommend him then I'll check him out. I'm just now getting into this path. No experience whatsoever. I believe videos like yours can really go a long way in making me better.
@@kd-zb8xr And then you still have to rely on other patches, without knowing sound design. Besides Keyscape being almost twice as expensive and way more limited. Yeah no thanks.
i love how succinct and informative your videos are. often times producers on youtube have trouble just getting to the point. you're one of the only channels i ever recommend to others.
@pyv pvy yeah. I just work a lot and dont know how much time ill be able to invest in it is what I'm worried about. Trying to juggle my free time with my gf and friends and still trying to be productive is super stressful lmao
I like how you teach us how to make these sounds in any synth, unfortunately to many tutorials will say "OK now just turn this know, head in here, slide this, and your done". Love your videos. Thanks!
i saw this video a few years ago, it gave me enough knowledge to be able to create thousands of sounds. so many that I don't even need to use any kit to produce a full song
4:50 i love that detune envelope trick. Real string instrument detune slightly on the attack too. Subtle, but adds realism. Sometimes I’ll link the detune amount and the cutoff to the velocity. That way, just like a real guitar, the sound is sharper in character and pitch if you play harder.
Man so much respect for your content. I’ve learned so much from you in such a short time. Thank you for that! If you ever want to collab I’d be honored!
This is probably the best tutorial I've found online. Really appreciate you explaining more in depth on why you are choosing to adjust each parameter. Huge thanks!
tbh i dont know aynthing about synths but slowly finding out how this works with one explaining it easily and ucomplicated brings me soo much joy! thank you! i can always trust a video when i see its from in the mix!
I always feel daunted by all the settings in Serum and other similar plugins. This quick tutorial gave me so many ideas on how to begin designing something cool on my own. Also, it would be good to know what families/kinds of instruments go together. I have a lot of trouble creating something even remotely pleasant sounding with lofi samples.
The funny thing is serum is one of the simpler to use plugins compared to something like zebra 2, Fm8 etc. Just watch random sound design videos and try to play with the synth and you'll realize it's actually pretty simple.
Hiya. I mean this as a compliment so please don't take it otherwise. I love how you geek out over sound design and your eyes get all sparkly. It's everything. And thanks for a bomb tutorial as always!
I am just beginning to start producing music and there is still a lot to learn for me. Every time I watch one of your videos, I learn something new! Thanks for being extremely easy to follow in your tutorials.
I came here with no clue 7 month ago and this guy has helped me reach with a lot of things keep up the good work man.... Your videos are straight to the point
I think this is the first video of his that I haven't fallen asleep. I'm not knocking the guy... he's really great! His soothing voice just puts me out when I'm watching tutorials at 4 am. Super fun following along on this one! Thanks for your videos.
I've got a really tough uni assignment at the moment, and I've been watching so many tutorials panicking trying to make synthesis make sense, but this is the only tutorial I've seen that I've come out feeling confident in what I'm doing! thanks so much
Hey! I'm from Argentina, and I started watching your videos a few days ago.. I really appreciate the way you teach Sound Design, and I hope to see more videos like this. My best wishes for you!
Your hammer noise technique is amazing. I've never thought about using the noise like that. I'll probably should get this pack for learning purposes alone haha.
Have to say, Serum Essentials really is a great pack - bass presets especially. All sound great on their own and quite amazing when layered with other synths. Look forward to future packs and thanks for all of the work you put into the channel! Invaluable resource for people like me.
In The Mix, Sonance sounds, Mystic Alankar, Multiplier and Echo Sound Works - The best 5 TH-cam channels for serum tutorials and serum presets! Who agrees?
serum sounds so crisp, and is a powerhouse of features. the gui (idk if that’s the right term) is very practical. i’ve been using the synth Helm there’s not many great tutorials on it, definitely some limitations but it’s free. you’d be the perfect person to make a tutorial for it. watching people use serum tho it’s just clear that’s one hell of a synth. i may have to invest.
But how are you this good Michael?😯.. Lol I've been on your channel for a little over 3 hours straight now. I can't get enough of how you just simplify EVERYTHING gard damnit!* lol wow.👏👏👏👏👏
Amazing video as always! Now, I would suggest that you should make a series of videos, teaching the whole song production process from scratch! That would be amazing, we, as an audience would also love to participate, produce and share our songs.
HOLY SH*T!!! This guy does the best music prod. tutorial videos of ALL TIME on TH-cam; people on the comments section are appreciating him; everyone is FRIENDLY here, are we in heaven YET?
Thanks Mike, love those sound design videos...keep them up. It will be great if u had a video about all the effects that are stock in fl studio, like explain quick an easy about what most of them do, when will you use them and for what..and what u would use out of all stock plugins before buying expensive effects.... thank you for everything again :)
Tried to tweak on stock rhodes piano, still couldn't get the filter & LFO settings tho... Thanks to you I could experiment much more with just stock synths! Still a lot to catch on ur level tho, thanks mate!

Hands down one of the best music production tutorial channels on TH-cam.
Wow thanks, I'd definitely recommend checking out Synth Hacker for more detailed sound design videos than myself!

Take Keyscape from Spectrasonics and you will have hundreds of realistic patches for life to use without all this patos 😂

Honestly he still is! The preset bank gets lifetime free updates. The first update has already been released.

You might like the more basic sound design videos he made then!
