Thursday the 2nd of May 2024 I’m flying from LHR to Newark International Airport in New York. Now I knew I was flying Business Class both ways, so I did some research into airlines and their premium cabin perks and cons. Very quickly I realised I won’t bother flying British Airways, and have settled with United and their, in my opinion, superior Business Class product. Genuinely excited as i’m only 19 years old and saved up since December to buy this ticket…
Good for you! Hopefully you'll have a great trip. Btw, if you have an Amex card, there's an offer going around with £350 discount on United when you spend £700 there (but I guess you must have already bought your ticket, so prob not useful)
BA First is definitely more comfortable than Club World (which is really old, not very comfortable and with poor storage) but it doesn't seem to be a big step up from the new Business Club Suites except for being a bit bigger. Best perk of First is the Concorde Room. Very good video.
Agree with almost everything you say here, bar one thing: my experience of CW service has been that it can't be faulted and is, therefore, extremely difficult to improve upon. So, as you concluded, the difference between the two is very small. I think what you're really paying for might just be the exclusivity and privacy. Happy to say I now have four GUFs which I'll use next year to do this upgrade for a minimal charge.
I do like BA's CW but wouldn't go as far as saying it can't be faulted. I guess it very much depends on your bar / expectations for this product. E.g. on the one hand, you could say that not offering dine on demand is a fault. On the other hand, you could say that dine on demand shouldn't even be expected of a business class product. Anyway, congrats on the vouchers and enjoy the upgrades!
I enjoyed your video, you have a calm and relaxed presentation style and I think you covered most of the salient points. However, I would have liked to have seen a scan of the menu, a view of the 1st class bathroom, a comment on the WiFi speed and maybe less pre-boarding activity before the Concorde lounge.
I certainly hope they have improved their attitude towards passengers flying first class, I flew first class on their 787 in 2016 ( LHR to KLIA return)and there was no personalised greeting nor priority boarding at Heathrow airport...got access to that first class lounge in Heathrow and got treated like an outcast as a woman asked to check my boarding pass again AFTER I got into the lounge. They privided a "cabana" which was awful and no service offered....left for dead in there. I even got brushed off by the stewardess when I asked re fast track on arrival in Kuala Lumpur. Return flight was even worse when my call for service was ignored....had to call again after one hour before a stewardess appeared and said " breakfast is served from the othet side" like travelling in economy! The only positive aspect was the first class lounge in KLIA and that was thanks to Malaysia Airlines as BA used their first class lounge! When I gave them feedback I was given a rather curt phone call from a condescending woman who closed the case. Honestly I have had better service with Ryanair cabin crew than BA's so called first class service😢
Sounds like a pretty poor experience, sorry you went through it! Hopefully the service has improved significantly since 2016 (can't compare really as I didn't travel with BA back then) but even now it can still be a hit and miss.
Especially surprised to hear they didn't follow up properly on your complaint. I was under the impression they give out Avios as compensation left and right to unhappy F passengers.
@@LoyaltyLlama I've received a voucher recently rather than Avios, but I was happy with that. I was travelling Business class and it was a lounge issue.
Good point. E.g. Qatar asks you when you want to eat and their menus say something along the lines of "you can have any dishes from the menu at any time"
@@LoyaltyLlama Yeah BA are supposed to ask you as well. When I flew LH F last month they just started laying my table with everyone else in the cabin, I stopped them in their tracks and reminded them it's dine-on-demand, and I will eat later (it was a 14.5H flight and I wanted to enjoy a few drinks of their cheap champagne first).
The increase over business was marginal (~£100), that's why I went for First. Increase over economy was susbtantial but overall a very good fare, found it cause people were talking about it on Flyertalk.
Hi, Some things you can improve are: I am being nit picky btw 1. I think your intro needs to be more fast paced, it took a while before you even got into the actual video. 2. The camera resolution was quite choppy and laggy. Especially when you were in the lounge, it might have been the fast motion. (It is not that bad tho.) 3. Your thumbnail was ok, but not great, try include some photo of the seat with a caption to intrigue the viewers. Other than that, you deserve way more subscribers and your are surely punching above your weight here, and the video is amazing. I would even go to the extent of saying that your video is better that some other 'famous' reviewers. You were confident and critical at the things you felt were wrong. And your conclusion at the end of the video was a really good garnish to end an amazing video. I am definitely subscribing and turning on the notifications. Well Done!
Mostly agree with the critique, I also think the seat tour wasn't stabilized and that didn't feel good; maybe if you stood up during the seat tour to show the things from a bit further away? Also a higher resolution camera would make a pretty big difference. Otherwise, incredible video for an account with 1k subs!
I've generally been quite disappointed by the food on BA Club, recently had a Wiltshire pork fillet as my main and it was the driest meat I ever had. Shame that it doesn't seem like First is that much better
Yeah, I've heard Club can be hit and miss as well. Maybe I got lucky with the food on my flights in Club which to be fair I've had 4 of, so not a huge sample size.

I couldn’t really tell the difference between first class and the new business class

Nice! Voucher sounds even better
A big difference is supposed to be the 'dine-on-demand' service, but this doesn't always happen and many people don't realise it's a thing.

Hey thanks for the video. What was the price increase over economy/business?

Worth for long haul flight by ba
BA is good in everything except food!
Haha, idk, I feel like food generally is on par with the rest of their service.
I will be staying at the Raddison in July 2025 I'm staying in Chicago for week I'm staying at Raddison for one night
I thought Radisson no longer operated in the US? They sold their hotels to Choice.
The most annoying thing happening when flying first is when you have your movie disrupted by the announcements
To be fair, happens regardless of your travel class :)

Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to provide the feedback! I'll definitely take these into account for future videos.
@@LoyaltyLlama I sent you the email as well. I forgot to lol.

Good tip about standing up to film the seat. Will try next time, thank you!

Just fly Qatar Q Suite, far better and cheaper than BA 1st class
If only Qatar had direct routes out of London, I'd definitely do that every time! But I already pick Qatar when going to the middle east / Asia.
why are you filming in 720p, its not 2001!
😮 I didn't notice it! My GoPro just have been set to 720p for whatever reason. Normally I post in 1080.
