    Sarah, with wire connector ends that have the "Creepy Green Death" on them, soak the ends in straight CLR. It eats it away down to clean metal. When you pull it out of the CLR, spray them off with CRC quick dry electric spray. I've done this for years while restoring old motorcycles and it works great.
    Keep doing what you do! I've always been impressed with how detailed and in depth you are with all your projects.

      @@TbsDltn Hydrogen Peroxide may make the plastic brittle.
      Chemical resistance of plastics to Hydrogen peroxide @ 30%, 60°C is depending on their ability to keep properties when exposed to this reagent. Traditional chemical degradations encompass aesthetic defects, decomposition, swelling, crazing, cracking, and/or change in mechanical properties such as impact strength, tensile strength and elongation. Learned that one from AvE.

    I tried to see if anyone commented this already about the fuel pump relay: It wont work as you have drawn it. a 12V relay needs a minimum of 4 wires to work, a switched trigger to the coil (positive or ground) with the other side either being positive or ground (the opposite of the switched side). Those are the terminals you said you were leaving disconnected. Then you need the 15A feed to one side of the switched terminals, and the normally open terminal to the fuel pump. Coming from me with an automotive electrical backround, your work looks great, better than many "pros" I have seen.

    • @SarahnTuned

      The Aux outputs from the ECU default to ground which would trigger the relay.

    Just a tip. PWM control of a solid state relay is the go for fuel pump speed control. Works great with Walbro 460's and other E85 rated pumps. It really helps keep your fuel cooler too. You configure the PWM table based on injector duty, and the normal fuel pump running signals.

    • @theangrymarmot8336
      @theangrymarmot8336 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just for comparison - I do a lot of complete re-wires on classic cars, customs, and race applications. . Typically I use American Autowire "Highway" universal update kits for the more "normal" stuff. I charge (and this varies by vehicle obviously) 40 hours @ $100 an hour for more complex jobs at 25 hours for simple jobs (for example a stock '69 camaro.) I have done hundreds at this point, but you have to remember these videos aren't an accurate representation of hours spent as she has to also spend a lot of time narrating and videoing. I recently completed a wiring update on a show truck (ridler great 8 build) and with the rather ridiculous custom EFI setup I installed, as well as the myriad of other electrics (door poppers, stereo, gauges, etc) and the visual requirements - it was a several hundred hour job. Cost of wiring varies greatly depending on the skill of the tech, and the materials used. I can guarantee someone who quotes wiring work super cheap will deliver a result far from the quality of someone who quotes a price that many would consider "expensive."

      @@theangrymarmot8336 The astonishing difference between the complexity of a 60s car compared to a 90s car means that Mr. Dos would be totaled by an insurance company if the wiring harness melted and the whole car needed this sort of wiring job. A hundred hours of labor is probably more than almost all 90s sports cars are worth at this point (unless meticulously restored). I'm amazed that Sarah took on this task. I'll bet there aren't more than a few hundred people in the whole country that do work like this anymore.

      @@PetrolJunkie Exactly. I always laugh at people who are cost/value/investment based when it comes to value. I have spent the last twenty years building customs and hot-rods. People will dump 650k-1+ mil into a build and know if they sold they would be lucky to get back 1/4 of the cost invested. IMO the only time "how much is it worth" is a valid topic of conversation is if we are talking about investment quality cars.

    Considering how hot it's been in Tucson, I'd say that ensuring a functioning AC sensor is required in order to not die while driving during the day.

    Really enjoy your vids. Your MR2 is coming along so nice. Take all the time you need to make it as awesome as you want it to be, especially the wiring as I know that takes time to get it right.

    Your attention to detail is _amazing_. I don't get how some people just think this is something you can whip up in a day. I guess they just want instant gratification or something. I'm glad you're doing it carefully and meticulously - makes that care so much more unique and completely "yours".
