I got the 2017 demo with zero miles at Centennial Nissan in Las Vegas for $9,000 in 2018. Roll up windows manual locks, manual seats, analog stereo and ac knobs, nothing electronic to go wrong. Some tweakers tried to steal the engine in middle of the night, half the engine was disembled and I put it all back in 5 minutes and it started right up, and ran perfectly, it even ran out of antifreeze and never overheat lol. It's been keyed bad and I grinded that out with a drill as clearcoat is amazing. @@richard-sh1693 Still loving it. Taking it for my first road trip in about an hour, will be driving about 1200 miles round trip over the next week or so. Zero excuse for that, just because we want manual, does not mean we do not want other comforts.
I bought a 2024 manual in August. I just got home from my first road trip, put over 1200 miles on it on this trip. I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable and capable it was on the freeway. The only negative I can say was that when you are directly behind a semi, at highway speed, the car does get buffeted around a little bit - nothing scary. Just don't tailgate semis. After this trip, my overall average is 44.6 MPG. It was a very relaxing car to drive, even through construction zones. The small size and ease of maneuvering is much nicer than my F150 with an 8 ft bed. LOL Regarding the Android Auto - I was very disappointed I couldn't get it. I did buy an aftermarket portable screen. It connects to my phone via Bluetooth, and my phone still connects to the car via the USB charge cable. The Android screen sits reasonably securely right on top of the car's infotainment screen (there is a small groove along the top). It does partially block the center vents, but wasn't a problem for me. I was able to use the Android Auto and still receive phone calls via the car radio. Pleasantly surprised that they worked well together. Had to rely on the Android screen speakers for audible driving directions.

Does it have transmission fluid drain plug and stick to check the fluid, a spare tyre and temperature gauge in the dash board? Lot of these are gone from latest cars these days.
Great Job 👏 Appreciate the honest and sincere feedback. I’m glad you mentioned the extra costs because that can determine whether I could afford this or not. Hopefully your enjoying the vehicle well after a year of having it and that your keen on the reliability factor ❤
Hell no. 25k out the door??! That's the car I would pick, but would buy nothing else warranty wise and I'd pick the manual and love the port injection to prevent carbon build up, but 25k is way too much.
I'm going to hang on to my Golf GTI because of the manual transmission. I've spent $200 to get the gear oil changed and serviced. Automatics and CVTs are so complex, they're very expensive to maintain. Manuals are the most reliable and economical.
Thinking about purchasing a manual S to keep the miles off of my Volvos back and forth to work. Not sure if you ended up replacing the head unit, but I am having trouble finding a plastic trim piece to put a dual DIN aftermarket head unit. Definitely wanting to put a CarPlay unit in.
Hi! Nice video! I have a '24 manual on order. You mentioned having seat covers ordered. Can you share what covers you chose? I looked at some custom-fit fronts and to me they're expensive seat covers that look cheap. I'd like to know what you chose and how you like them.
what do you mean the last economical stick shift the new one starts at like $16k for 5-speed manual I mean everything is getting more expensive I’m considering leasing one after my current car gets too enough
What I mean by economical is for a fuel efficient, small stick shift car, it’s the last one you can get now. Toyota Corolla is only sold with an auto, ford focus is auto, every other auto company only has the option with a manual if you buy a “sports car” or a sport version of the car for astronomical prices
I have the 2021 versa s manual. It's not much but it's my first manual car so it has been fun to drive! Do you have any resources to learn how to install Android Auto/Apple Car Play on the vehicle?
The idea of losing $15,000 in depreciation (plus the immediate evaporation of anything you paid over msrp including tax) in the first 4 years alone is a deal breaker lol. Gonna be an $8000 car in 3-4 years.
True but any car I was looking to buy would have done the same. In less then 6 years, she’ll have over 200k miles on it but still have a lifetime engine warranty through the dealership. That alone is a peace of mind very few new cars will give you
@@zippyzappyz Agree. Resale value dont mean much when factoring long term ownership which is financially smarter than trading it in prematurely. That partly what lease is for.
Crank handle windows, no? I would love a manual transmission! I would upgrade the wheels and definitely the interior lighting, it's dark in there!! The fuel economy is impressive. The headunit is integrated into the dashboard, not sticking up above it, very impressive. Is there a map? How is the clutch? Light or heavy? Heavy, good. Base cars are much better than they used to be.
Here's a situation no one online will admit to; you get into a vehicle accident and it's a total wreck and now you are tight on money. You need a cheap car quick that gets good gas mileage. The base model Nissan Versa saves the day. I'm not sure why the Nissan Versa is more affordable than the Mitsubishi Mirage but I will be looking into the Versa rather than the Mirage.
But a couch financed and buy pizza junk food and groceries with credit card and in a year and a half u sill have 750 …PAY ON TIME AND DINT USE UO SLL YOUR BALANCE
no one can steal a car with a manual and i do not have to put a steering lock on the car but it can be a problem if you want someone else to drive your car.
Holy Cr*p 25k for a 17k msrp. I am lucky to have picked mine up in '16 for 10k when the msrp was 14. Granted that's when they still came with the hand crank windows and none of the electronic doodads(mechanically they're the same car) but I'm talking about the crazy mark up instead of discounts on new cars.
One way to learn quick is to have a new car you are paying for that you can’t drive until you learn it. Take it to a parking lot and after a couple bucks and stalls maybe a few unintended first gear peel outs and gear grinding and before you know it you will be fine and so will the car.
You can still plug in your iPhone to the USB and it will still play your music through the radio, right? I mean, you might have to control it from your iPhone, but by plugging it in to what I am, assuming is a regular USB A input, can you indeed send music from your phone to your radio?
yes! and it has Bluetooth as well! I was just very used to all my cars having CarPlay so I'm a bit spoiled on that end. ITs about to get an Alpine Halo 9 CarPlay radio in it though. Ill make a video of it soon once I get the din installation kit!
@@zippyzappyz So you just use your iPhone screen as your Mabs and music screen, right? So I’m assuming you have it mounted somewhere so that you can see it? Which port do you plug-in to in the Nissan… USB-A or USB-C To use your phone and connected to the audio system? Thank you so much.
Aftermarket radio will not fit in that vehicle as many trying to get one to fit. You may have to cut the dash to properly fit a double din 7-10 inch screen.
There is no aftermarket dash kit for the 2023 & 2024. My friend got one & never noticed the rear seats do not fold down. No remote entry or key fob & you have to put an aftermarket alarm in to add it.
By the time I can buy a new car (I would be paying cash) they probably wont have anything except sport models with a manual left but I wonder if it’s easier to get one of those more bare bones and in the preferred color if you special order it custom configured and wait however long it takes whether that’s even 6+ months. I’ve got tens of thousands of dollars ahead of me because I’d wanna buy some land before I get a new car because I’m sentimentally attached to the two late 90s beaters that I have, I wanna build a house and also have a place to store my cars.
will there be a 2024 manual model because versa sales are very low probably the ones with the CVT transmission because for a little more money you can buy a sentra?
As a new 2023 Versa SV owner who could have gotten a Sentra, Altima, or even last years Hyundai Elantra hybrid for the gas mileage I will say, yes you can get a Sentra. HOWEVER, the mpg 45 average on highway you get with the Versa is impossible to achieve on the Sentra. Bare that in mind. This is why I love the Versa. It’s main selling point is the fuel economy which is also why after turning off the vehicle each time, a screen on dash pops up saying your gas mileage details for that entire ride in comparison to your best mpg record to date.
and tax, but it still should have been under $20k out the door. $25k for a base manual Versa is twice what it's fundamentally worth. That car's going to be worth $8,000 in 3 years.
@zippyzappyz thanks for clarifying. I realized that after I watched your other video where you go deeper into the breakdown. From this video it wasn't quite clear. Btw I had the same experience as you when I went in to buy this car (in the process of buying one currently) and the sales rep is telling me there is no such car and I had to tell them I already talked to their manager about the car. No wonder sales figures for this car (not just the manual but the automatic) are way down. They advertise it to lure people in and the minute you walk in they have no versas in stocks at all and they want to upsell you to a sentra or Altima etc.
@@7subaru897 of course! Honestly, it’s really grown on me. Got a free lifetime warranty on the motor, lifetime oil changes (both with zero catches) and the peace of mind that it’ll get me from a to b without any problems
The europen version has a renault 0,9 litre 3 cylinder turbo. 100hp. It gets 5,7 litres fuel per 100 kilometers of driving. What ever that converts to mpg.
Dan, the 2021 S had start button and keyless fob. 2022 S had key in ignition, no starter button but had keyless fobs for lock/ unlock. 2023 Versa S has key only no remote fobs to lock/unlock !!!! There has to be a way to add a Nissan remote, I’m betting the receiver is in place. I’m getting same model next week. Did you know this is the last year of the 5 speed manual tranny?
@@victorferguson5713 is it really? it's sad. The only country that prefers slush boxes over stick shift cars :/ Drivers would have way more attention here if automatics were banned (in my opinion of course)
I had to rewind it to make sure I heard "$25k for a $17k car" right. If "with a $2000 down payment" means $27k total, that's even crazier. That makes absolutely no sense, for $27k one can buy a new, better built and engineered car from Toyota, Honda, or Mazda that'll last longer and have better resale value. That price wouldn't include an extended warranty, but then again, you wouldn't need one with proper maintenance. If I were buying this car I wouldn't pay them a cent over MRSP, just the tax and nothing else.
Can't speak about elsewhere, but asking price at a local SoCal Toyota dealership for a Corolla is just over $30K. Unless you just absolutely have to have wheels, now is a bad time to buy a car.
@@svenmorgenstern9506 Call a Toyota dealership and told them X dealership agreed to sell you the Corolla you for closer to MSRP and see if they'll beat their price. I wouldn't think twice about lying to a dealership, they can all collectively eat it.
Everyone situation is different…for better or worse. Cars are getting more expensive every year regardless. Now if buying one at MSRP, then it is not so bad in current era. Gone are the days where discounts are easily attainable. Good car OP esp with the stick.
Yes, I agree it sounded very high. But he said he purchased gap insurance and extended warranty. I don't know how much gap costs, but the extended warranty at the dealership I purchased my car was expensive. I think it was close to $4,000.00 more. I didn't buy it, and he didn't try to sell it to me. The car price also does not include transportation fees, which are not negotiable, and taxes and title and plates, and their fee to prepare all that for you. The transportation fee adds about $1,300.00 more. And yes, when I purchased my car, it was an absolutely horrific time to buy a car. It is a little better now, a better supply. However, I saw a Versa listed this morning at the dealership I purchased my car, and I looked a half an hour later and it was gone. Someone had already purchased it. They don't get many in, and they go fast. Nissan Kicks are selling like hotcakes too, and I suspect Rogues, too, although I haven't been watching those as closely. Nissan is one of the few dealers with some low-priced cars. So I'm concerned about the CVT, but I paid a reasonable price, and I can get 43.4 MPG on the expressway.
I bought a 2016 s+ payed $14,200 out the door then got a new coworker with the same car asked him how much he paid and I'm not kidding you $23,000 he said what an idiot he thought that's normal I don't think he believes me how much I payed people are so gullible anyways 7 years and 140k Miles later car still like new no problems
The automatic does not get better economy in my experience. My 2014 5speed at 65mph averages 43mpg on the highway, 38 on its absolute worst day. It might have a better city economy, but it isn't by much when it comes to real world numbers.

I fixed the front end myself, meaning, the front bumper cover, grill and hood latch. Also have overheated it a few times, and it refuses to die 🥵💀 Too bad they don't offer the Hatchback for the 2020-2024 model years!
Hopefully your enjoying the vehicle well after a year of having it and that your keen on the reliability factor ❤
wonder if theyll still make these in a couple years
They better😤 I love ‘em
Hell no. 25k out the door??! That's the car I would pick, but would buy nothing else warranty wise and I'd pick the manual and love the port injection to prevent carbon build up, but 25k is way too much.
12:02 how did you get your dash to light up blue? Fixing to get a manual versa that's blue and would love to have it like your dash
Mine came like that
I'm going to hang on to my Golf GTI because of the manual transmission.
About to buy the adapter, I will make a video on all of it once I install it!
Hi!
What was the total cost?
My dealer wants 19300$ for the base model manual and I think that’s WAYYYYY too much but idk
I guess this video is a couple of months old now. Do you still like the car? Have you had any mechanical problems?
0... its been very reliable. Free oil changes for life with the deal I made with the dealership
It was a week after I just got this Altima that I found out they still make a manual Versa, I just assumed they were all cvt.
Is the steering wheel both tilt and telescopic? My Mirage lack one of them. Curious to hear the answer.
Almost positive it is both. Haven’t needed to move it in a while
It does tilt and telescope.
Ontario dealers don't seem to want to sell this car at all. I tried 3 locations and all tried pushing Sentra .
I'm in the dmv area , looking for the same exact model but a 2024. I doing a test drive and checking out one later this week
Good luck with your new car. I have been thinking about a versa.
That is an exhausting intro
bro I bought a 2020 Versa 5 speed right before the pandemic in August for $11,500. I drive this thing 24/7 my truck sees zero road time now
APR is almost 8 percent now for well qualified buyers....so for me it would be like 20%....so I couldn't even afford one of these.
I've got a 745 credit score and yeah it's about that
But a couch financed and buy pizza junk food and groceries with credit card and in a year and a half u sill have 750 …PAY ON TIME AND DINT USE UO SLL YOUR BALANCE
Thx for the msrp run great review
The worst thing I hear about Nissan is the CVT transmission... so it obviously won't have that problem.
It's not a problem as long as you change the fluid.
Sweet ride 😎
Your fired haha, thank you Geoffroy!
In Arizona you can get the stick shift. Not uncommon at all. Good choice by the way. 😊
Can you post a breakdown of the prices of each extra(Gap, extended warranty)?
Of course! I’ll make a video about it so I can in depth with it
I would try plugging ur phone into usb first before being sure it doesn’t have CarPlay, might just not be showing up!
no one can steal a car with a manual and i do not have to put a steering lock on the car but it can be a problem if you want someone else to drive your car.
I’m thinking about getting one but don’t know how to drive manual do you think this would be too expensive to learn on? Could I damage the car?
Nah send it
Not at all
Just get someone to show you, it's pretty easy and enjoyable. With a manual you'll actually feel like your driving the car instead of riding in it.
One way to learn quick is to have a new car you are paying for that you can’t drive until you learn it. Take it to a parking lot and after a couple bucks and stalls maybe a few unintended first gear peel outs and gear grinding and before you know it you will be fine and so will the car.
You'll be fine. Practice on a rental first haha
Smart
The cvts are the biggest problem for reliability
@@VocalVirgo yes usb a only controlled from your phone
Aftermarket radio will not fit in that vehicle as many trying to get one to fit. You may have to cut the dash to properly fit a double din 7-10 inch screen.
I have an alpine "floating" screen din ready to go in.
@@zippyzappyz Wont fit you have to cut the dash & make a bracket.
Why don't they make more of these manual five speed cars when they're CVT transmissions are so bad
Nobody wants a manual anymore 😒
@@zippyzappyz its so hard to find! i bet because they dont have any problems lol
Hey Dan where did you get that shirt? It’s dope.
I don't remember haha
So how did you get from 17 to 25 with just a warranty. WTF.
and tax, but it still should have been under $20k out the door. $25k for a base manual Versa is twice what it's fundamentally worth. That car's going to be worth $8,000 in 3 years.
Do they have 144 month financing?
Not through Nissan that I am aware of
Can you upgrade the key to remote opening ?
I haven't tried yet but don't doubt you could
I wish I'd known this last year...
I wish I could find it for that price. Dealers around my area are all charging a 3k markup on the 17k not 15k "msrp"
my loan was on $23k
@zippyzappyz thanks for clarifying. I realized that after I watched your other video where you go deeper into the breakdown. From this video it wasn't quite clear. Btw I had the same experience as you when I went in to buy this car (in the process of buying one currently) and the sales rep is telling me there is no such car and I had to tell them I already talked to their manager about the car. No wonder sales figures for this car (not just the manual but the automatic) are way down. They advertise it to lure people in and the minute you walk in they have no versas in stocks at all and they want to upsell you to a sentra or Altima etc.
Does the SR come in a manual?
No
Nope 😒
Did they delete the smart key system? It was the basic option until last year..
As far as I know yes. Just a basic key, no key fob either
@@zippyzappyz I see. Then, is it possible to lock or unlock all doors by the driver side key hole?
@@7subaru897 that’s the only way to lock and unlock it but it does have the lock/unlock button inside as well
@@zippyzappyz Thanks for your comment! I'm going to buy one soon, so it was very helpful.
@@7subaru897 of course! Honestly, it’s really grown on me. Got a free lifetime warranty on the motor, lifetime oil changes (both with zero catches) and the peace of mind that it’ll get me from a to b without any problems
I have little doubt you can get 43mpg in that.
I have 2022 Nissan Micra. Same car, same interior, exterior. here europe its a hatch back only.
The europen version has a renault 0,9 litre 3 cylinder turbo. 100hp. It gets 5,7 litres fuel per 100 kilometers of driving. What ever that converts to mpg.
25k omg… why would you pay for a warranty when it comes with a new car warranty? 😅 goodness
No remote keyless entry? for the basic cvt
No remote, key only
Dan, the 2021 S had start button and keyless fob.
I agree, they may change it to 6 speed (doubtful) if I figure out a solution for the keyless I’ll report back
Around only 5% of these Versa S are manual 5 speed. A lot of buyers ONLY want manual.
The stock radio works fine with my Apple device 🤷🏻♂️.
Wow a manual. Great job. This is perfect for a daily
Minute 15:48
Wow in total the “”cheap”” car is over 25K !! 🤯 is 8k over the original price 17K , wow that is a overpriced for me 😢
My friend just bought a brand new Camry LE for 27k
Honda, Toyota, and Mazda no longer make manual transmissions , which is a huge factor in the long term reliability.
Car prices are ridiculous right now but considering how many miles I drive a year, it’ll be at 200k miles in 8 years max
So I needed something simple reliable and new with low miles
Never get extended warranty and avoid gap
May I ask what the out the door price was? I'm looking at the same model. Great video. Thanks
24k, and with financing 27.5k
You Got Ripped it should have cost you with tax 19,000 waranty is a costly never will need it. I had four never they broke ever, very well made.
THE PEANUTS MOVIE-car!
Got 24 for 19k out the door
The click bait price online is total B.S.
Asked and answered. Sorry. Should of finished the video! 🙄
The automatic does not get better economy in my experience. My 2014 5speed at 65mph averages 43mpg on the highway, 38 on its absolute worst day. It might have a better city economy, but it isn't by much when it comes to real world numbers.
You spent too much man!
Its easy to think that but considering how much I was spending on my older "cheap cars" it is way cheaper. Simplicity is nice
I just picked up my Versa last month SR trim for $21,340, brand new.
You could have done this review in the day time, not smart to do it at night
