So after a STEM degree, you have 1 more year for OPT and 2 more years for STEM to work in the USA after graduation. Thanks waiting for your kind response

Hello! Currently I am in J1(trainee)visa and i am doing my internship in hotel. I would like to know how can i change my visa status to F1. As i have already completed my bachelors degree in Hotel Management with good marks(Fir div with Distinction) in the year 2015. I want to do my masters in Hotel management or I want to go for IT. Is there any one who was in J1 visa moved to F1 visa or the one who has good knowledge about this can help me out. After how many months i can start my F1 visa process and what are requirements i need to go through. PLEASE give me the best suggestions and ideas. Thank you in advance.
Hi! Thanks for the informative video! I am wondering if there is a way for F1 visa student to start a business here? I am just planning to sell some handcrafted stuff on etsy😅
Any business you engage in before your F-1 studies is completed and without approval from your DSO is regarded as unauthorized employment and is ground for you getting into immigration trouble.
I want to pursue my masters and phd there in the usa .I want a scholarship and also want a job which visa i should apply for? I'm from India .kindly reply
The F1 visa is ideal for you. We've developed the best training program for international students seeking funding to the USA in form of scholarships and jobs, check out our mentorship program here: sojourningscholar.com/fmc/ Let me know if you have any questions about this training program.
Are you already an active F1 international student. If not to work on a summer internship, you would need to be authorized for curricular practical training (CPT). You won't be eligible for CPT until you've been enrolled for 1 academic year.
Most pay around minimum wage in your state but that also depends on the type of job. Let me know if you're interested in learning about on-campus jobs and pay, I can make a video.
That's very rare. Under most circumstances, you'll need to be a full-time employee for a US company to sponsor the Green Card application. And as an F1 student you're only allowed to work part-time during your course of studies. What is more common is a US company filing the H1B after you've accepted an offer to work with them but before you officially graduate. Search for our video on how to go from F1 to H1B where we talk about this.
Hi, I recently got an PhD offer in USA with teaching assistantship stipend that covers tution fees and expenses. Am I eligible for J1 visa as my spouse want to work in the US or I am eligible for only F1 visa? Please help me with this query. Thanks in advance.
Thankyou so much. I am yet to accept my offer as I have a doubt whether the university will provide me an option for both F1 and J1 visas. I want to go with only J1 visa. What should I do in this situation?
No. The STEM OPT is only for F-1 visa holders already completing a 12 month OPT. J1 visa holders don't get any extension after their Academic Training is complete.
I am planning on j1 for my PHD program. If I join off-campus internship during the program (or before graduation), would my Academic training period after graduate be shortened by the length of the internship?
In terms of how easily you can find an internship job, it does not matter that type of visa you are on. But in terms of how many years you have to work in the U.S, the F1 visa is clearly the winner. What happens if F1 visa for only a 3 month university certification. Would I be able to work after the course has completed?
Hi! Thanks for the informative video! I am wondering if there is a way for F1 visa student to start a business here? I am just planning to sell some handcrafted stuff on etsy😅

What if the f1 student is not finding any job on campus upon several attempts of applications. Would they still be able to attain the ssn?
Not without proof of work.
Thank you

Sir I’m physically outside the us and taking classes online. If I work outside us, is the work authorization needed?
Work authorization is only needed for any kind of work you do while you're physically in the United States.
Hi, I would like to do a summer internship before starting the fall semester I’m outside the USA. Is this possible?

F1 visa is the better option for most students.
can j1 visas apply for stem extension?
No. The STEM OPT is only for F-1 visa holders already completing a 12 month OPT. J1 visa holders don't get any extension after their Academic Training is complete.
@@SojourningScholar okay but can j1 visa holders not subjected to the 2 years home requirement be eligible for h1b visa?
@@ppyaw Yes. The H1B visa would be the way to go for a J1 visa holder who wants to work after completing the J1 Academic Training.
So over the summer I can work more than 40 hours a week ?
Yeah you can! Assuming you were enrolled full time in the Spring and Fall terms.
If I were to ask in my interview during the summer break what is my plan? can I tell them I want to find a job in campus and focus on my studies
