Man this hits home...
Last month my partner(of two years) and I ended things.
Those were the best two years of my life.
They were my first relationship too....
We didn't end things because of anything bad. I'm just in college now and they are leaving the state. We couldn't make each other happy like that. So we said its better to move on.
It was a choice between bad or worse, there was no right choice.
So we chose to be in less pain.
What sticks the most, well its everything, but especially that love that you still have for your partner.
It's still there.
It always will be.
Moving on won't be easy.
It'll be goddamn impossible.
But wallowing in the past gets you nowhere.
We talked about the fact that we made a promise to one another that we will end up getting married.
So it's just a break.
A long break.
Years.
We both saw it coming too.
And we just braced for impact.
And the song is right, it is nobody's fault.
And now the question I ask myself really is, where do we go?
I'm going through a lot of changes now.
I just recently discovered I'm transgender.
So the next time we will see each other, I'll be different.
A lot different.
And so will they.
Is that going to stop us from keeping our promise to each other?
I hope not.
I hope we made the right choice.
I hope this works.
