I've been building plastic models for around 35 years and after watching your videos for the last few months feel inspired to try building a wooden ship. I just ordered the Beagle and plan on building alongside you. :)
It's gonna be a masterpiece and a precious gift. Let's keep it a secret who is the lucky man. I look forward to its turn. Let's make this video a viral! Thanks pal!
Just ordered this today arriving on Monday can't wait to start a new project. Glad I found your channel because I will need a little help from time to time. Keep up the great work your doing... ( Wales, UK ).
John. I am in the middle of this build and it coming along quite nicely. Really good quality kit. Be sure to be careful with the bulwarks (parts C) as the thin bow section is very fragile. I had to request new ones from Occre because the were broken on arrival. I'd love to send you some of my build pics!
Hi John love your ship build 👌 I’m about to start a Modellers Shipyard Colonial Schooner Port Jackson 1803 in 1:50 scale ,but I’ve got to finish my Billings Cux 87 Krabbencutter 😉
Sounds great! It will take me some months before i start the Beagle because now i am building Montanes. You are welcome to watch the playlist here : th-cam.com/video/K_KVMiSyBxU/w-d-xo.html
I’ve been watching every single video of your Montanes a very beautiful ship . Looking at buying the 1300mm Hms Victory myself in the near future Greetings from Australia
This is going to be a bit harder to do because it is half the size which means very tight areas to work in. When you get done you will know how hard you worked for this one. This will be a lot of fun, she looks great . I will be watching to see this being built.
For one more time you are correct my friend! Because of the size it will be harder to build , probably that's why it has 2 layers for the keel. I will talk to you after i come back from work :)
Thank you very much John for this unboxing, now I'm sure that I want that model too🙂 by the way my friend I have a question, do you varnish cannons or just painting?
Hi John, I’ve never built a wooden ship model but would very much like to get into this hobby. May I ask what you might recommend from the OcCre product line for someone wanting to make their first attempt? Thanks for all your videos as well! - Peter
Welcome aboard to this beautiful ,stress free hobby Peter!!! I believe that this one is a nice model to begin with : www.occre.com/model-ship/ships/albatros.html
It will take me some months to complete Montanes before i start building Beagle. I think it's easy enough but it is not appropriate for your first ever model if you have never made another one of this type.
Candelaria is easier but if you expect to finish her on one month then you probably won't get any sleep :) These wooden models require time and precision, even with every day work it will still be a couple of months or more.
I have a Mamoli MV20, HMS Beagle. I purchased it in 1984 and then I had to take 35 years off to raise a family and solidify my career. Now with the freedom of the empty nest and a retirement offramp in place, I've opened the box. Although I do not speak Italian I can figure out much of the broken English instructions BUT, all of the small strip material (planking, etc.) was in a single bag, all mixed together. I sorted them out but I cannot tell where each strip type is used. Did the newer versions of the MV20 have upgraded instructions and a way to identify the strip pieces? HELP, if you can. I'm willing to communicate by email if needed. John
@@JohnsWoodenShips Thank you for your response, John. I hope that there will be someone out there who can help me figure this out. What glue do you use for the laying the deck and planking the hull? It seems to be an instant contact cement because it sticks tight so quickly. I enjoy your videos because they give me confidence as I attempt my first plank on frame model.

@@JohnsWoodenShips Thanks. Incredible that a company that claims to be the best decides to make half models for amateurs. At least they don't lie. The age mentioned on the box says '14' and up... I really do not the Mamoli version, i have build the OcCre one. The pieces - strips that are the most are definitely for the hull.
