7:47 in 3U there were a few Brachydios naturally living and thriving in the Tundra. Back then (and in this Gen) his weakness was Water, not Ice. Since World Iceborn, their new weakness changed to Ice, making it odd for them to be seen in cold areas but back then they just naturally lived there, or at least could naturally be found there, no frenzy required 🤷🏻♂️ That Dual G-Rank Brachydios quest in 3U makes it hard to forget they could also be found in the icy Tundra
I believe the change was made because, in World, you could wash off his slime with water-based weapons. So they made ice his primary weakness instead to force you to choose between maximum damage potential and the utility of negating the slime.
@@emperortethysusdacertified8175 That and maybe because of Raging Brachydios, since his weakness was always Ice since his first appearance, so maybe it was changed to be the same weakness for the "same" monster
For some reason even back when I was a young lad playing this, I always found frenzied deviljhos roar was by far the most haunting and epic sound I’ve ever heard at same time.
Interesting tidbit now that His Immenseness has been shown, there is actually a way to get unknowing players to admit they haven't finished the story without directly asking them. All you have to do is ask what the weather in the G-rank gathering hall is like. If you haven't beaten the Rusted Kushala, then it will be stormy as seen in the video. This can be relevant, as the solo story is important for unlocking certain necessary things for apex hunts, and if you haven't finished it then you likely haven't gone out of your way to do other supporting solo quests like completing the Wyceum to unlock the Drive wystone, get level 2 wystones, and get access to using a second wystone. Usually you can just ask the player directly if they have something important like this, and if they don't you let them know they need to get it and how, but some players are stubborn.
Brachydios being found in cold areas isn't really a normal thing anymore, ever since World his weakness that used to be water turned into ice, before that tho? yeah, them being on cold areas weren't too weird
MH4U Frenzied Deviljho was literally my first Deviljho encounter. No iconic surprises here, it was a straightforward hunt against a new monster. Also, gotta love that Frenzied Brachydios's slime puddles explode with random timings (slow/normal/fast).
It really annoys me that this Deviljho doesn't get an intro cutscene. Like, fucking Congalala gets 2 cutscenes, but Deviljho is straight-up one of, if not even the only unique monster in the entire game to just not get one, even though it's like a key quest and he's super iconic and all that jazz.
His Immenseness, armed with a Lance, in a siege fight. Him recharging is just him sitting in the back on a stool having a drink as he tries to cool down.
I’ve gotten to where there intros are just normal you know I don’t even blink any more but just listen to the intro and imagine some who doesn’t know them watching for the first time
I mean, you're joking about His Immenseness wrestling Monsters but I remember reading somewhere that he did just that to a Lao Shan Lung... This absolute UNIT of a man wrestles Lao Shan Lung for *fun*.
Fun fact this was the first Jho I ever killed I was like 11 at the time it being frenzied made it feel so much more accomplishing (even if it is one of the easiest instances of deviljho in the series)
I would have love to hear Bracadeos after hearing Josh "accidentally" used a Tigrex mating call and not a normal call. The betrayal, our poor big punchy man.
Hoist by its own petard; it's not impossible that Gore Magala's efforts to sustain its livelihood through the Frenzy killing prey and competitors results in an Apex that turns the tables against it. Whilst a Shagaru can be reasonably confident that it would still overpower an Apex, the juvenile is less so. Fitting that the concept is both reintegrated and defied (in a sense) in Rise; the Qurio affliction tends to kill all, but certain monsters forge power from the pain and become nigh indomitable, the prime example being Malzeno undermining Gaismagorm's encroachment, whilst the new brand of Apexes forged by Ibushi are too addled by a deep-rooted terror to dare confront the Serpent.
Oh no, Frenzied Rajang is brutal but this, this is horrifying. How did this came to be?!?!?! No wonder Capcom has never added Jho with the Bloodlust, nothing would be safe.
I guess I'm in the same boat as Cotton when it comes to playing the older MH games, Iceborne and Sunbreak changed the movement, and by extension combat, of Hunters so much (for the better imo) that going back to experience what most people class as the best MH game, its like having to learn a whole new game, kudos to the players who mastered the older games, but its not to my taste at all, I might actually revisit 3U and 4U if they ever got ported to the Switch like GU, cause GU is my favorite old school MH game, but until then, I'll stick to the more fun games
Yeah me too, the older games are made in a very tedious way that it kinda explains why MH as a series was very niche before, everything about these games was tedious from gathering to crafting to build making to actually hunting, I really like GU but like halfway through high rank I just got bored, making builds was hard, making new weapons and armor is hard, using more than one weapon is just too much time investment. For the people who enjoyed these games good for you, for me MHW was actually fun to play while GU felt like irl work but I'm not getting paid.
1:11 other prehistoric animals did that too; like Plesiosaurs, Sauropods and Deinocheirus. 3:25 Demolisher, not "Destroyer". it's like calling the Dragonator the "Dragonslayer". (i remember that bad takes video) come now Josh, even *you* know what the thing's called. 4:26 you connected the dots *just now?* i thought Josh already told you of the Demolisher's debut in 4 Ultimate. 16:35-16:42 i honestly wouldn't mind that. i genuinely want to know how voice acting handles that kind of zaniness; every last sentence, down to the same one you hear from the same NPC that you accidentally talk to when you were headed to the shop right next to them. i genuinely would want that. *chuckles* Frenzied Joe? as the veterans who made it all the way to the end will tell you... *he'll get worse.*
I would like it if they added a feature where he will outright kill a monster on like 10% health and take a chunk so you have to down him to get the third carve from that monster
Wystones were the clutch claw for me. I HATED using them. Fiddling around in the inventory for a very temporary buff where openings themselves could be non-existant.
I could be wrong (and probably am) but it looks like His Immenseness is wearing a helmet, with those little flaps that cover the ears. It would explain his head appearing to be so oddly shaped.
You do remember tornados can pick up and throw houses, yes? Rip them apart? Kushala can do the same to His Immenseness, and the Dragonator would kill him too.
No clue I always look at the monster than my armour and that’s how I ended up using a level 1 low rank wiggler helmet all the way to arch tempered velkhana
That set is the EX version, the sets with EX are supposed to look like the armors from the older entries in the series. As for the shield, I don't remember, but in 4U it's colorable so it might've been added?
While all of Brachydios' intro cutscenes have been in volcanic regions (W.Iceborne low-key), it is actually fairly normal for Brachy to show up in cold areas, in fact, ever since 3U, his debut game
Its not relevant anymore , but after re-watching these. Josh... "This way i have both focus and handicraft" but you're using the seregios GS which isnt EVEN AFFECTED by sharpness+1 its completely wasted here.
Cottons perspective should be back to normal in 2 episodes time, apologies in the meantime team!
good glad that man finally got a 4090
PLZ NOTICE MEEEEEEEEEEEE
I need my Cotton vision back
RAGE PLZ NOTICE MEEEEEEEEE
HELLO ACTOR OF VIDEOGAME
By looking at the thumbnail, it was evident that Cotton was having a very difficult time with Frenzied Deviljho.
Imagine His Immenseness with a lance. It’s literally just a Dragonator, and the shield is the front door to the Guild headquarters.

Makes a nice nod to regional variation.

His Immenseness is amazing. I wonder if there are any other legendary Wyverians at all that are also similarly giant.
For some reason even back when I was a young lad playing this, I always found frenzied deviljhos roar was by far the most haunting and epic sound I’ve ever heard at same time.

7:45 Josh says Brach is in the frozen seaway because of Frenzy. But we fight him in the Tundra in MH3U explain that.
I actually appreciate the random fish dino fact, thanks Josh 👌
Still the BEST intro scene of any game ever. Wish they did a frame for frame remake for the MH movie
The Frenzy Monster is in Coma at first, but not death.
8:00 ne hes actually quiet frequently seen in cold Areas, like the 3U Tundra.
Brachydios being found in cold areas isn't really a normal thing anymore, ever since World his weakness that used to be water turned into ice, before that tho? yeah, them being on cold areas weren't too weird

His Immenseness, armed with a Lance, in a siege fight. Him recharging is just him sitting in the back on a stool having a drink as he tries to cool down.
I’ve gotten to where there intros are just normal you know I don’t even blink any more but just listen to the intro and imagine some who doesn’t know them watching for the first time
"It has to be something other than shaguru with the frenzy."
Little does cotton know. Little does he know. 😂
"Its just a Kushala" yeah... an apocalyptic force of Nature that can easily level the entire City if not repelled :P
this game brings me alot of memories
I mean, you're joking about His Immenseness wrestling Monsters but I remember reading somewhere that he did just that to a Lao Shan Lung... This absolute UNIT of a man wrestles Lao Shan Lung for *fun*.

God the Tigrex bit actually got me good
😂 Their commentary about random ethical dilemmas is too much!! 😂
Boy is it usefull to use sharpness with seregious weapons. Joshes skills as an hunter never fail to amaze me
Cotton roasting the story of 4 is how a New World hunter sounds when people try to say 4 has the best story.
the stygian zinogre materials were for the ammo, not the weapon itself
I would have love to hear Bracadeos after hearing Josh "accidentally" used a Tigrex mating call and not a normal call. The betrayal, our poor big punchy man.
If we never get to see His Immenseness suplex a Deviljho I will die very angry.
1:34 Tigrex: "Hello nurse!"

Wot
Can you imagine Seregios sliding in with an Afro? Perfect monster for the 70’s😭
I'm sure it's been said but I imagine his Immensness dual wields two great swords like dual blades
Nah he just Hercules vs nemean lion’s them

Now I want to see His Immenseness in a boxing match with a Brachydios!!!
The Amount of dead cottons in the thumbnails recently is really worrying, someone should place him on the endangered species list
17:42 the world ends with you: Monster hunter edition.
Ah, finally, my favourite monster: Scorned Kushala Daora
The Stygian Zinogre was to fuel the weapon, not exactly to make the weapon.
1:11 other prehistoric animals did that too; like Plesiosaurs, Sauropods and Deinocheirus.
3:25 Demolisher, not "Destroyer". it's like calling the Dragonator the "Dragonslayer". (i remember that bad takes video)

Cant wait for the whole APEX part to surface. Its boutta be confusing as hell for them.
@@josephhaak4804 and fun for us >:)
I want Deviljho back in MH6. He needs more Monsters to pick up and throw at me.
I would like it if they added a feature where he will outright kill a monster on like 10% health and take a chunk so you have to down him to get the third carve from that monster
Definitely needs a throwdown against Magnamalo at some point, see which hypercarnivore has the mettle to keep up their metabolism.
That and I miss Savage Jho’s sexy SEXY armor for the lady hunter.
Did... Cotton actually think frenzied monsters were zombies?
Wystones were the clutch claw for me. I HATED using them. Fiddling around in the inventory for a very temporary buff where openings themselves could be non-existant.

"And then you laugh maniacally as you pull out the bag!" Josh, 2023 (I don't know why this was so funny to me)
I want a fan fiction of the 2 hour tigrex mating
Ahh yeah, frenzied Jho, just as I remember it
T R A U M A
12:07 He said the thing!
Wha...wha...what happened with that tigrex again!?!?!?
Wasnt cotton gonna get better hardware or is the lag from something else
I think the real life parallel you are looking for for the Frenzy is rabies.
Ichtyosaurs, despite their name, were not actually dinosaurs!
Did the Rathalos helmet always had this shield symbol on it?

indeed
i wish he had been in Rise :(

Capcom, will you please put this on the switch, I can’t stand playing it on the 2DS! 🙏
