I think there's probably more young boys back then who had a crush on soldiers. The media always show women being inlove with soldiers but not young boys or closeted gay kids back in those days.

I was one of the very few people who actually saw this movie when it came to American theatres in 1994 ( exactly 11 of them) it was showing at the Tempe Arts Theatre on Mill Ave &.my friend took me to see it...when it was over, I really was really half expecting the Vice Squad to be waiting in the lobby to arrest all of us...but by the next day, I really appreciated it and loved it...

Idk why people find it weird? When I was a 8 year old boy, my cousin had joined the army. He used to introduce me to his friends and show off his trainings. I used to find it hot and sexualize it. I even thought, I would have married him if only a boy could marry a boy.
