Grew up in the mid 60's thru the 80's in Chicago's South Side, a few blocks from Marquette Park and about a mile from Midway Airport. The BEST place to grow up - a million kids in the neighborhood and tons of awesome memories. Went back and lived on the North side after living out-of-state for some years but the city hadn't lost any of it's charm. It'll always be my home even though I'm not living there any more.

A large number of the neighborhoods outside of the Loop were originally their own towns before incorporating into the city, giving basically all of the neighborhoods outside of downtown a hometown feel. Which is why we sometimes call it a town.
