I love watching you two! My husband passed away 5 years ago and our dream was to travel the US when he retired. God had other plans and took him home before we could travel together. I am working now on buying a RV that I feel comfortable and safe driving and the number one thing on my liat is to see the Northern Lights!!! We both dreamed of this for many years and I hope I can fullfill this dream for the both of us.
I never imagined going on the road alone but he is always with me.
Thanks for your wisdom and hope to meet you two in person someday!!!

So blessed to say we are living our dream too. Sold the business and house and are now living full-time in our 42' CC fifth wheel. Just got back to home base (in FL) from a 5 month trip of the NE. Absolutely LOVED the New England states!! The best decision we have made! Love the simple, no stress lifestyle!!! Our country is beautiful! Get out and go see it!!!

We’re working through our bucket list as we still work in our career jobs, in which we’ll both retire from in 45 months (62.5 & 57 years old). One of the big items crossed off nine years ago walking on Antarctica for three days and visit Iguazu Falls, Argentina, knocking off our fifth and sixth continents over 2.5 weeks. In 2015 we visited beautiful Marrakech, Morocco, the country’s cultural center. In April 2022 we explores Peru’s Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca and Lima. Late July 2023 we’ll do a safari in Kenya and Tanzania! Oh, since Phil loves to eat, like us, we highly recommend San Sebastián, Spain, the epicurean center of Europe. The Basque Country is stunning in its beautiful landscapes and devotion to creating delicious and simple food. Three of our four last European vacations went through the Basque regions, since December 2015. Not yet accomplished, spending three months in Japan and eat our way from northern Hokkaido to the south, Nagasaki. We bought an Airstream and diesel Ford F-350 this year and have working remotely up and down the West Coast too!! Eventually we want to explore Alaska from May to September in our rig. Thank you for a great channel and thank you for encouraging others to live their dream.

Yes! I'm all about figuring out a way to do our bucket list NOW instead of waiting. This fall my husband and I checked off a bucket list item by celebrating our 25th anniversary with a trip to Shenandoah National Park and exploring Luray Caverns. We've seen the signs from the interstate for 25 years, and now we can say we've been there! I also decided when school started that we would include Adventure Friday in our homeschool plans. So, every Friday our youngest sons (7 & 9) and I head out for a local adventure. Highlights so far include touring a few historic mansions, visiting the zoo, a Revolutionary War reenactment, and getting lost in a corn maze. Nothing epic or expensive, but the point is to have fun, get out of our comfort zones, and learn/experience something new!

Top of our Bucket List is a summer in Alaska. Working toward it now. Totally agree with the Start Local advice. I have lived in the same county for 60 years and over the last year I have found so many amazing places that of course I knew existed but had never taken advantage of. We just got back from a 30 day road trip. We did get some good advice from locals along the way for things to do but many of them could only say "I've heard this is fun or I've heard this is a good hike", but they never took the time to experience them. We are usually looking for the non-touristy things to do, as I think a lot of RVers are.

Gliders are so awesome to ride in. We did a tail stall and then a full stall. I also fly remote control gliders and learning how to stay up there with what you can’t see keeps you thinking.
Also in memory of my best friend Jerry Snedden who was gliding up in the Sierra’s solo, working the slope lift and got caught on the backside and couldn’t pull it out. RIP

Never did the Glider flight, but did have my Single Engine Land with Instrument License and owned my own aircraft, so I understand the freedom of flight.

  • @BruceS42
    @BruceS42 2 ปีที่แล้ว

My dad always wanted to fly, but kept not doing it because "that's a rich man's sport". I similarly had the flight bug, but for my 30th birthday, my wife gave me ground school and some dual time. So I got to actually learn to fly, to spend some time in the left seat of Cessna 152s and 172s, doing not just level flight but takeoffs, landings, circling about a point, s turns along a road, etc. Unfortunately, I found that I have air-sickness bad enough to preclude becoming a pilot, but I *tried* it, and that was cathartic. When I gave up, I sent my headset and other gear to my dad, talked him into taking a few flights with a friend of his who's a pilot. IDK about a bucket list though. We mostly like to play it by feel, not make a lot of plans.

I love this message and agree 100%. I didn’t have this realization until my husband died at the young age of 49. At the time I was only 43 and wondering what to do with the rest of my life. What a great message!! You're absolutely right. Our family has been checking things off our "bucket list" together for awhile. I am like you guys, I love to make a list...but you know, I haven't really written down those things I want to do (they live in my head) or want to go see. We are not full-timers, but we are blessed with a work schedule that's the same as our kids because we are teachers. We like to take all the opportunities we can to live life to the fullest. We have always loved to travel and experience places, but when we bought our travel trailer in 2019...WOW...we have been able to see and do so much more. Thank you for this great video and great reminder to us all! ~Kelli P.S. Gonna get on making that list. :)

I've wanted to travel across the US for years. We are finally retired and now have the time, but NOT the money to do it. As you know it takes money to travel. We put money away, but my husband is afraid that something is going to happen, and we'll need that money in the future for other things, so we can't touch it. As you know, trying to travel on SS retirement won't let you travel very far from home. I've also wanted to go to Scotland too, but that's never going to happen either, so I live vicariously through all these travel RV podcasts, and at least I get to see places I would most likely go if I could. Thanks for being my travel partners.

We went full time Aug. 29. We are calling this our friends family and fun tour. We have put 4,000 miles as we zigzagged across the Southern Canada and northern U.S. we have seen many old friends made several new ones. We saw in a surprise day, a detailed tour abour Laura Ingall Wilder , the shipwreck museum in MI, the badlands, Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, learned about Crazy Horse and his monument, spent 4 days exploring Yellowstone, spent days in several locations where hubby lived as a PK, seeing where he grew up. Now we will soend several weeks with his brother including enjoying Thanksgiving together before we head south to spend Christmas in CA with our oldest daughter and family. We enjoyed many interesting Harvest Hosts, some great boondockers welcome, some moochdocking at family and friends, one Cracker Barrel night and a couple of churches not affiliated with HH. We also interspersed some decent campgrounds to do laundry and have hook,-ups. JOY, our 29 ft. Class C, no slides has run well in all that. Step motor having an issue and we are taking it in Wednesday. But truly has been joy. We want to continue to travel spending the summer in NH with the youngest daughter and family there for as long as we can. We also geocache along the way. We are 75 and 74 and hope for several years. Our bucket list see all our old friends across the country, see the Petrified forest, Yosemite, the Redwoods, Sequoia National Park, Grand Tetons, Glacier, and more.

Technically a "glider" is different than a "sailplane". Us kids grew up around them... it was soooo cool. Gliders go up and just come down and were used in the war ... sailplanes can gain altitudes and play in lift. ... I know culturally people use both terms...

This was a really special video. As Leonardo Da Vinci said: "When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward. For there you have been, and there you will always long to return." Getting my private pilot's license was a bucket list item for me. Flying a plane down the VFR corridor over the Hudson River in New York City and circling the Statue of Liberty was something I did a thousand times on a flight simulator, and in 2005, I got to do it for real. Unfortunately, flying became too expensive, but this video really made me itch to go back and fly more.

Glider ride over the Rockies, check, Bi-plane ride over the Hudson River, check, and the check marks go on. We added Presidential homes to our list last year and have 7 now. Last week we rented 3 wheel motorbikes and toured the Gettysburg Battlefield. Another check. Even our Grandkids have lists. Our 12 yo grandson now has over 150 different roller coasters he has ridden. The best goal is to add more than you check off each year. Keeps you going. BTW we know some of the best farm fresh ice cream shops in South Central PA. Stop by and we will take you to some of them. 🍨Of course everything else you eat afterwards will be measured against them. Safe travels.

Flying while full-time RVing is the best! Can’t wait to see you guys on the road! You can check out toad. Or more specifically what’s in my road. Hint: it flys.

Great video guys. Thanks for taking us along with you. I envy you on thus trip.
Tell Phil to put on his big boy pants. Can't believe a certified Squid gets sweaty palms just flying. LOL
Just kidding you sir. If you were nervous and did it anyway, kudos for you. You deserve a double scoop cone for that !
Really enjoy ya'll taking us with you on your travels and sharing you time with us.
Two thumbs up for your efforts to help veterans.
Graduated in 72, had several family members that were in Viet Nam and remember how they were treated. Glad to see that attitude towards veterans has changed and so many good folks like ya'll are trying to help.
God bless ya'll and stay safe on your travels.

I am surprised your pilot did not loop that fine airplane. 5G's would give you some excitement ! Flying a glider is much more rewarding than flying a powered airplane. The plane you flew has a 40 mile glide ratio for every 5000 feet of elevation. You can fly all day with no engine !!!

  • @josephrobichaud5198

That's real flying, all pilots should be required to do this, loose an engine, I've got It!

The most famous story is the Gimli Glider. Had the Air Canada pilot not also been an experienced glider pilot it would have most likely ended in a tragedy.
