Thanks Cathy! Oh, I loved seeing Madge go past in that beautiful vintage car. Two centurions! The dragon was amazing wasn’t it? I was in awe of the person walking with it and moving it. It’s a couple of miles I would think from one end of the route to the other. Must have been so uncomfortable!
Bless Madge! She’s AMAZING! Love this ! How lucky are you to have this in Wellington! So much light and colour to brighten up Autumn. Lovely video Louise !
Thank you Alex! Madge really is amazing, like the Queen of Wellington 🤗 I agree, we are so lucky to have this in Wellington. I accidentally out where I thanked all those who were involved in making it happen. It really did brighten up an autumn day.
Great to see the first of the South Somerset carnival circuit Louise in Wellington. You captured the atmosphere really well and the twilight lighting looked fantastic. Wonderful to see Madge go through in that vintage car, she looks a lovely character. You worked really hard on this. Great video Louise!
Ah thank you Paul! Haha! Yes, 6 hours from start to finish on editing this one and bed at 4:20am 🤣 I loved doing it though! Thanks for your kind comments.
Thanks Jesse! Really pleased that the atmosphere came across! I loved the Harlequin one. I am in awe of the amazing amount of work that goes into these things throughout the year.
Oh this was so much fun Louise. When I was growing up I used to go to Southend on Sea carnival a lot. Also I participated in Rochford carnival once as a member of the group 3 Degrees. We got in the newspaper 🤣! The floats at Wellington carnival were amazing especially the Hollywood one. Must have taken ages to put together! Really nice atmosphere! The 100 year old lady fundraising for 40 years, wow! What a treat to go. Thank you for sharing with us. 🤗
Thanks Amanda! Oh lovely memories of your involvement with carnival too! Thanks for sharing them! Yes, Madge is amazing still fundraising at 100 and so fitting that she could travel in a 100 year old car that was purchased in Wellington. The atmosphere was fantastic!
That was a great carnival, you did a great job adding the music! Sadly we no longer have a carnival where I live so was great to see the procession... wasn't Madge great 😃
Thank you Caroline! Oh, Madge was brilliant! Such a fantastic character! Really pleased that you enjoyed it! That’s sad that you no longer have a carnival.
Hello! Ah that’s cool! If you email me at southwestsundays@gmail.com I can send you the little bits of footage that I have. I was really impressed with how the situation was dealt with so quickly and cheerfully.
Hi Louise, Looks like a fun event and really well staged as well. Shame you were unable to use the music from the floats. I'm wondering what the origins of these carnivals are there are quite a few in the somerset region. I can remember seeing a clip of the synchronised swimmers in the Bridgewater one some time ago now. From what I can see a lot of carnivals are staged pre-lent February March time, perhaps not a good time in the UK for it. There are lots out here in Spain, perhaps the best known ones are in Tenerife, Cadiz or Aguilas but most towns stage something or other. I wasnt quite sure where Wellington was I guessed it was quite small so I had a quick look and spotted that it became the home of The Duke of Wellington after Waterloo but not named after him. The Duke (and his descendants) were awarded a mansion and lands by the Spanish government follow his help in the Peninsular war. Its in a place called Illora about 30 minutes drive from me, small world!! Great video, well done!!
Thanks so much David and thank you for sharing all that really interesting information. I will do a bit of research about the West Country carnivals and try to incorporate it into a video or post. I believe it started in Bridgwater with the spontaneous celebrations of the failed gunpowder plot and it spread out to other West Country towns as the area was very Protestant.
A very good Saturday morning to you all from Wellington Somerset
I went to the carnival it was so cool.
Happy and fun event. Thanks Louise. Well done Madge !! 🎈🎉. I especially liked the dragon and the Harlequins. 🙂🙂

Hello the club being towed I'm involved in. Do you send out separate clips?
