It took me a moment to realize why The Doctor wanted to save The Bogeyman, it had never actually harmed anyone or showed any intent to harm, it could easily have hurt Eric if it wanted too. It was just made to be scary.
Yep, I love that. It's not evil, and it was made by the same machine that made the babies. Any other show would've killed it for daring to look scary.
THIS. I've seen people give it flak for not killing it, when it isn't an actual threat. It's designed to be scary for the children and that is it, it's not an actual threat or adversary, it never actually attacks anyone, it just makes them run away like it would for a kids story.
People seem to forget how wacky Russel T. Davies does things. Doesn't anyone remember the recurring fart monsters from Eccleston's era?

Fun fact.. the baby talking effect is not AI. They scanned and created virtual vfx baby faces with points of articulation that they mapped onto the faces of older child actors giving the voice performances, then using those visual references animated the vfx baby faces.

The difference in your responses to baby Eric showing up for the first time made me cry with laughter. I had to rewatch it over and over. Jay is so filled with glee that he’s clapping, and Adam leans forward thinking “What the deuce?!”
Ncuti Gatwa is already growing on me, his energy is just so infectious and i LOVE IT. Also space babies, TOO FREAKING CUTE!!!!!
I see a lot of his character as Eric from Sec Education in his doctor, but it’s also the first doctor that I knew from something else first, so it could have an effect. I really love his energy as The Doctor

The goblin king is different because Ruby's disappearance genuinely made the doctor angry and he knew killing it would bring her back (though he could have found a way without murder, so I think it was mostly anger. Whereas the bogeymen hadn't actually hurt anyone)
He also wasn’t trying to just flat out impale him he was probably trying to just wreck the ship

The documentary that went with this shows that the young actors who voiced the space babies were cgi onto the babies. Wild. Snowflakes could be like Bad Wolf.

The babies were real babies, the lines were recorded by a group of 6 year olds whose faces were filmed. They then replaced the babies mouths with the other ones.
And it was not only disgusting to look at, the regressive ideology terrible, but the CGI was horrific too

The Season 1 thing isn’t just a rebranding/new “Issue #1” thing. It’s also a legal thing to allow Disney to save the show with the co-funding deal.
Legally speaking, (HBO) Max still has exclusive streaming rights to NuWho for a fucking while. No word on when that exclusivity deal ends. If Disney and The BBC wanted to make more, legally they had to make it a third distinct Doctor Who TV series with another Season/Series 1.

Thank you. I’m 56 and watched Everything on PBS on my little Black and White tv when young. Everything But Dr. Who seems a bit confusing. But this was great. Loved the Space Babies, Jay, take all the love can and receive now, time is going to fly, mine just reached 30.

Reference, this Doctor knows martial arts because Pertwee’s Doctor knew martial arts. He keeps saying no one is like him in this universe, the Master isn’t in this universe but he will be back, Donna’s kid is sort of like him, his daughter was made from him so she’s exactly like him and Susan is partially like him but we don’t know if she is still alive but he’s not the last technically and he was married to someone other than Riversong when his memory was locked away, did they have kids 🤔. “Tell your mom not to slap me”, history of companion’s mothers smacking him, like Donna’s mom did it. Lots of great stuff coming, Ruby is the new Clara I think, she’s more than she appears and I don’t think that scan was exactly right.

Jay it's nothing to do with the 'last doctor' it's only in the US where it's Disney+'s way of saying we're the new people showing it, even though they don't make it or have say in how it's made. And it's you guys who say things differently from how they actually were originally.

I like how many people I've seen who are surprised by "how quick" 15 gave Ruby a Tardis key, as if they've completely forgotten 11 giving Victorian Clara a key on day 1 😆
Plus, a much-missed detail in this ep: Ruby and the Doctor met at Christmas 2023 in her time, but in this episode she says she thinks she’s in June 2024 or so. So they’ve been together something like 6 months, she thinks. At least, that was how I interpreted it.

We say "bogeys", because "bogey" and "bogeyman" are British English terms for evil spirits, sprites or the Devil, but American English corrupted these to "boogey" and "boogeyman" at some point. It's kind of odd that this pronunciation/spelling has survived into modern times, because "boogey/boogie" was once also derogatory US slang for a black person.

Gotta admit I was hoping for another bluey reaction, but can not deny seeing you react to dr who makes me incredibly happy as well. The first couple episodes of every new dr is always a little awkward on purpose. As each dr is pulling from the acting of the dr that came before. Hence why there's a lot of David Tennant in ncutie's portrayal (atleast in my opinion). But that will fade usually by episode 3 or 4 and will become the true 15th dr.

This was a very fun and silly episode. I worry about it being a jumping on point for new viewers, because of the silliness, but Doctor Who always has some silly episodes.

actually, jay is forgetting this is the second reboot so last season was called season 13 but was actually season 39. if you want to be pedantic this is season 40.
