I love how calculators haven’t changed in design since they became handheld. They don’t need too!!! The one I’ve had for 15 years still works and will be replaced with one that looks exactly the same. Even the ones on your phone looks the same. It’s adorable.
Something like twenty five years ago, I went through high school with a TI-83 Plus calculator. Today, you can go to Texas Instruments and buy... a brand new TI-83 Plus calculator. With exactly the same slow CPU and ultra-low-resolution ultra-slow-response-time LCD display. And a quarter century later, it still costs just as much after all this time, getting relatively cheaper only due to inflation. It'll even survive the discontinuation of the Z80 processor, since it doesn't use a Zilog-made chip.
Small time Casio collector here. I bought my first calculator fx-68 in 1979 (still have it). Bought my last calculator SL-880 three months ago. Still use a Casio calculator at work.
My grandfather was an accountant in the seventies, and received a *really* old electronic calculator as a gift from his bosses Meanwhile, my other grandfather in the air force stuck with his mechanical slide-rule for doing maths
I still have a Texas Instrument TI-30 calculator in its original denim padded case back in 1975. I bought it for $27.00 at E J Korvettes in Paramus, NJ
So happy for you mate! I remember watching your videos probably about 10 years ago when I didn’t have a decent laptop to play games with friends. I watched a lot of your tutorials to improve my FPS without caring about the graphics quality 😅 Now I’m fortunate enough to afford a decent PC, started sim racing and created my own channel. Stumbled upon your channel again and saw that you’re almost at 1 million subs... congratulations! Keep it up, man. You’ve been helping people enjoy gaming on a budget for years, and it means a lot
It’s crazy to think technology has come so far that everything is on your phone, but it’s actually become worse in a way. For some reason it took forever for phones to follow PE(MD)(AS), even when they have enough power to edit videos on. I still primarily use a little TI calculator at my desk, because the battery is never dead, it doesn’t need to be unlocked, and it’s already in the “calculator app”. The Apple Watch Ultra is borderline usable as a calculator, until you put a screen protector on it and the button animations gaslight you. Then there’s cyber security. Times you can’t have any wireless or persistent memory devices on you, and the little TI and Casio is the only thing you can have.
That 6 digits and no decimal was a red light for me. Instead, I waited a couple months, and bought a Summit brand calculator with a full 8-digit LED display. It also ran on an inexpensive 9V battery. Back then, AA cells weren't nearly as commonplace as they are today, while the transistor radio craze of the '60s resulted in excess 9V battery production in the '70s.
Oh, Mr. Seiko, what have you done? Look at this terrible trend you've begun! You make me sick, you contemptible dog I blame you for the death of the cog! Clocks used to be such magnificent things Beautiful sprockets and dazzling springs But you gave the people your digital beast And in turn now all gears are deceased How things have changed from when I was a boy! Clockwork would tick and would bring me much joy But, with your advent, there's no need to wind-- Everything charming has been left behind! Oh, Mr. Seiko, you dirty fiend Your modern timepiece is cruel and obscene! I was a lover of gears great and small They all were my friends and you've murdered them all! How could a person commit such a crime-- To murder immaculate keepers of time? Why should a person so foul get away? Seiko, you're gonna pay! So, Mr. Seiko just watch your back Hide all those digital clocks on your rack They'll soon end up smashed to bits in a bog Because you, you, you, you, YOU Caused the DEATH OF THE COG! /The Death of the Cog
Good thing this happened or who knows how long it would have taken technology to become thin enough for modern cell phones. The innovators involved in this competition helped humanity much more then they ever expected.
I remember playing with my Dad's Casio calculator, evidently from the early 70's, because it sure was a collector's item. And breaking it. I was awfully good at breaking Dad's stuff. It's a wonder I'm still alive and am not even traumatized about it.
ProudProud Veteran of the Red LED versus Gray LCD wars. Calculators interestingly had a shocking price reduction they were around 50 dollars in present money ending at around 5 by the mid 80s.
Is there any chance of a book based on Linus Torvalds' Biography. I know the biography is 23 years old so doesn't include a LOT of Torvalds' story such as Git and the GPL wars. As well as nothing about the Linux juggernauts of Ubuntu and Android. But I feel like it has enough material for part 1 of a series.
5:055:04 though the video refers to relay calculators these are vacuum tubes and those were what were used before transistors. Relays are mechanical, vacuum tubes are electrical. My knowledge is obsolete and oh god so am i lol
Two calulator brands dominated the seventies: TI and HP. Texas Instruments using arabic notation and Hewlett Packard using reversed polish notation (RPN). I had an HP 32E scientific calculator during my study. Japanese brands did not enter this market until far later.
Go get yourself a G-Shock right now and appreciate the brilliance. My favorite is the GW-B5600-2 - The best ones that are made in Japan are all very expensive though.
Is TH-cam broken on me did you just upload 6 videos at the same time?
Might of got hacked
Yes
Yes, he did.
The tite of most of the videos says (remaster) so maybe they are old videos?
He remastered the old videos
yeah, what?? are these reuploads?

Can't beat a good ol' fx82ms clone.
That explains why Steve Jobs refused to put a simple calculator app on ipad

Pay more for bullshit is what you mean.
This electronics videos partially inspired me to start a masters degree in electronic engineering, great videos
Same. I was already eyeing with electrical engineering, but these videos made me specialize in microelectronics
For me it has given me further passion and vindication to expand my EESE (“”easy””) [electrical, electronics and software engineering] knowledge.
I miss the budget builds this channel used to do, there's plenty of budget parts, and the shortage is long over
Glad to see you back king!!!
New Beta64 AND LowSpecGamer videos in the same week. A feast.
bro really nuked his whole fanbase instead of creating a dedicated channel to pursue his tech fantasies
What a pleasant surprise! Welcome back.
THE KING HAS RETURNED WITH 6 VIDS LIKE WHAT?!?!
Small time Casio collector here. I bought my first calculator fx-68 in 1979 (still have it). Bought my last calculator SL-880 three months ago. Still use a Casio calculator at work.
10:00 Mechanical clocks use an escapement to keep track of time. The spring is just the power source.

bro dipped for a year and uploaded 6 videos at once
What happened to this channel? It was good to see games running in very limited hardware.
A new LowSpecGamer episode is exactly the pleasant surprise my weekend needed.
You missed an opportunity to close on a shot of the Casio calculator watch! Lol
I love how all the videos of this channel connect and the way you tell the stories
Very informative and professional video, as always!

You have no idea how happy I am to see all of these vids in my notification on a Sunday.
Gonna be relaxing to all of these for the next few hours.

spamming videos like this is so bad for analytics its crazy
Right? I’ve been trying to figure out why they all dropped at once. I have a theory or two but I hope I’m wrong
Thank you for uploading! Love your content. Please don't make us wait another year! Lol
I still prefer my Casio watch to those bloody smart watches!
Call those dumb watches.
Great video. However I'm a bit surprised, I really thought the watch intro would lead into Casio Calculator Watch lineup which is iconic.
Oh, Mr. Seiko, what have you done?

Did you write that? That's really good!
Good to see you back man
Thank you for sharing on this content on TH-cam. You make awesome and interesting videos!
I didn't expect this to be a video about Casio 😅
I love you these videos are SOOOO INTERESTING
“Twowereculosis” is all you need to know about the authenticity of this channel.
Welcome back Alex 🎉🎉
It would be nice if you added date stamps to your video. At least years when every step happens
Good thing this happened or who knows how long it would have taken technology to become thin enough for modern cell phones.
The innovators involved in this competition helped humanity much more then they ever expected.
A family so famous, even the afterlife uses their products.
At least that's what a scene in the movie Defending Your Life had me believing.
I like the new 3D style, works very well for showing off so many devices one after another!
This concatenated with the LGR documentary on the Calculator Wars is gourmet.
I remember playing with my Dad's Casio calculator, evidently from the early 70's, because it sure was a collector's item. And breaking it. I was awfully good at breaking Dad's stuff. It's a wonder I'm still alive and am not even traumatized about it.
Criminally underrated channel
Great video, fills in some of my knowlege gaps . This link things together nicely :)
ProudProud Veteran of the Red LED versus Gray LCD wars. Calculators interestingly had a shocking price reduction they were around 50 dollars in present money ending at around 5 by the mid 80s.
while this content is good, I would love to see lowspec gaming related videos again
I remember when Casio watches were cheap enough that most kids I knew had one.
On pocket calculators no mention of the UK company Sinclair?
I remembered you yesterday and was worried...
Take care and have a great new year.
What happened to your old videos with optimization guide for low-end GPUs?
The fact that you didnt incorporate Casio's calcuator watch really really hurt me.
Is there any chance, you can comeback and make a video on Marvel Rivals just like the old times??
Happy MF Christmas 6 uploads one day
Brilliant video!
hey glad to see you back :) glad i stayed subbed :)
integrated sir quits but best kolkelater video ever
THE KING HAS RETURNED!!!!!!!!
I wish we could go back to the time when the point was making technology cheaper, not expensive.
Video's a good watch by the end... 🙂
Great remakes!
HE IS BACK PEOPLE
Excellent video
If it was using relays, it was an electromechanical calculator
Big green numbers and little rubber feet.
bro deleted all of his videos and started making slop well played masterful gambit bro
Casio F-91W-1 FTW!
Also G-Shock. I don't know why Timex and all the rest even stay in business at all when the 'shock exists - they should give up and go home.
Hey Alex, i have a question, what lead you to remaster so many videos? did the originals have too many errors? anyways, hope you are having a nice day

As well as nothing about the Linux juggernauts of Ubuntu and Android. But I feel like it has enough material for part 1 of a series.
I've got a Casio on my wrist right now!
Was tmhat Bernie Koppel on the calculator piano?
i dont think uploading 6 video at once isn't a good strategy for algorithm optimization or stmn lol
VERY INTERESTING! Reminds me of TODAY! The AI Chip wars begun, they have.
And now, IMHO they're phased out by phone and PC. Unless, for fashion or tactility.
I mean, both the watch and the calculator.
The watch I am wearing today is a Casio.
0:30 are they dancing in the background? Or is that a farming technique? Lol
3:06 I don't think American soldiers were wearing camo in 1949.
Yeah, there are inaccuracies and over-dramatization in the video as well. Like showing a complex printed circuit board inside those relay calculators.
5:055:04 though the video refers to relay calculators these are vacuum tubes and those were what were used before transistors. Relays are mechanical, vacuum tubes are electrical. My knowledge is obsolete and oh god so am i lol
damn will you ever make a video about the Digitron DB 800 ? it was a pretty cool European calculator.
Two calulator brands dominated the seventies: TI and HP. Texas Instruments using arabic notation and Hewlett Packard using reversed polish notation (RPN). I had an HP 32E scientific calculator during my study. Japanese brands did not enter this market until far later.
I had two HP-41. They were great
new lowspec video after a year, wow..
Like they werent big in the keyboard market
6 videos???
wait 6 videos at the same time
I love Casio.
You alive!
Is that ai in the thumbnail?? Knew you were cheap but not THAT cheap.
Casio FTW.
You need to go back.
did he kept saying casio?
Did bro by mistake dropped 6 videos?
Glad to see start publishing again.
On one hand, bit sad being "only" refresh/remix of older videos, on the other hand... it's been a while.
These are from nebula.
They used to be on TH-cam too, at least some of them.
Y u deleted bf1 optimization video?
I like my Texas Instruments glow calculators much better. Examples: 2500, 2550.
Really? No mention of the Casio watch calculator? lol
I had no idea Casio was a Japanese company
A Japanese watch, calculator, and keyboard/Digital Piano company mind you
Go get yourself a G-Shock right now and appreciate the brilliance. My favorite is the GW-B5600-2 - The best ones that are made in Japan are all very expensive though.
i always thought i had an american calculator, apparentely all this time i was using japanese tech once again
@@mateuspires7282 Japanese tech is superior to Under-Engineered American Rubbish - especially when it comes to electronics and cars.
sitting here with a G shock on my wrist :-)
The sound is not good. Can't make out the words.
Sounds fine to me
Kashio ranger
What is happening ?
My fastest click ever
what happen to lowspecgaming? i came back here because another channel "low end gaming" is a ripoff
The answer is three
