    Great find in both cars... The 57-58 Plymouth brings me back to my younger years riding to Ohio to visit relatives... FUN build to come!!!

    Love the look of the '57 to '59 Plymouths. Good luck with them.

    I had two 1958 Plymouths ex Texas highway patrol four doors with the fins, around twenty five years ago, but I can’t remember if they were Savoys. They had the Commando V8 engine with three speed column shifts and dual spotlights with whip antennas. You could barely make out the State of Texas emblem on t(e doors and the words “Texas Highway Patrol”. Sold them years ago. Got them from an old man that had them parked since about 1966.

    You got a tiger by the tail with that one. Interesting to see the finished car. Good luck.

    Two door post car for me. Hardtops are as common as muck.

    • @QuickSpeedShop
      @QuickSpeedShop  ปีที่แล้ว

      The hardtop is 10 times more attractive and sleek compared to the post.

    I haven't priced 50s plymouths in probably 15 years, I knew they were going up and value but I didn't realize they were getting into the '57 Chevy two-door Bel Air hardtop territory.
    Cool cars But I am cheap I think I would just settle for its Dodge sibling lol

    • @QuickSpeedShop
      @QuickSpeedShop  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They're past '57 Chevys. A rusty '57 Chevy 4 door is $2500. A rusty Plymouth '4 door is $7000. There is a guy right now with a complete, but unrestored '57 Fury, with a lot of options, that wants $50k for it and will prob get close to that.

    • @AtomicReverend
      @AtomicReverend ปีที่แล้ว

      @@QuickSpeedShop it's got to be because of the movie.
      57/58 plymouths are great looking cars especially as hardtops but all Virgil Exner cars are good looking although I have a soft spot for just about all 1950s stuff so I guess my opinion is biased.
      I am looking forward to watching you fix this one up.

    If you didn't use the insulator do you think the GM rear axle could be used permanently? I have a 58 and a posi off a 79 trans am

    • @QuickSpeedShop
      @QuickSpeedShop  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it would work with the insulator. Without it the axle doesn't clamp tight to the springs. I have no idea if the pinion angle is correct though.

    Door height and length? Good luck. Any possible use of Dodge or DeSoto components?

    • @QuickSpeedShop
      @QuickSpeedShop  ปีที่แล้ว

      Doors are the same with minor surgery to swap from post to hardtop. Hardtop roof 1" lower and shorter, but a little surgery and it fits. Dodge, Desoto, Plymouth, Chrysler roof lines and basic cabins all the same '57-'59. None of the outer skins are the same.

    Wow shit these cars are getting expensive ive got a 58 savoy 4 dr sedan complete RHD im in new Zealand I paid 2k for it with engine and 3 speed manual rare here to I was hoping I could sorce some panel parts

    • @QuickSpeedShop

      They are very expensive. Big M Autoparts California is about the only place left that has body panels on mostly rust free cars.

    • @QuickSpeedShop
      @QuickSpeedShop  ปีที่แล้ว

      No way! The hardtop looks so much better. The designers missed the mark with the post roofline and post leaning forward when the rest of the car is leaning backward. The hardtop is 10 times better looking.
