    OK video but you missed out a lot of steps. For example how to remove the main board properly. Also, hoe to remove the cables properly too at the start. They are very specific and the sockets can be damaged if they are not open correctly. But thank you anyway.

    I can never remember how to get that LCD all the way out. Thanks for walking through all the catches that one needs to be aware of for that. The left one is hard to spot and It's tempting to just force it out lol.

    I am sure most electronics have a system memory. where is that on the motherboard? my psp is bricked and even a pandora battery and magic memory stick won't unbrick it. I can't force the console into recovery mode or anything. I want to completely remove the system memory and restart the thing

    • @sjm4306
      @sjm4306  ปีที่แล้ว

      What model number is it? Pandora method only works for 1k/2k. Last time I read it's now possible to unbrick every model, even serious hard bricks but you will need to solder a usb serial dongle and run an automated script to manually force a complete low level reflash of the firmware.

    • @sjm4306

      I have a few 2k's that do the same thing and also dont work with my pandora batt. In my case they have moisture damage to the components in the power supply section of the pcb. Are you absolutely sure there's no electrical or physical damage to the pcb or the chips on it? It could be that your recovery isn't working because your cpu can never boot due to power circuitry damage or any of the other number of circuitry the cpu needs to work correctly being damaged somehow.

    I have a psp 2000 with a brand new battery. It comes on with the ac adapter with no problems except it does not charge the battery. And yes it charged when I first bought it but now does not. It is beyond the return policy for the store I bought it from, but I do not think it is the battery. What can I do?

    • @sjm4306
      @sjm4306  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've found the middle contact, which tells the psp that a legit battery is plugged in, often is pretty flaky and can prevent the psp from recognizing and charging batteries. Try wiggling the battery a bit as you insert it to try and make better contact. If that doesn't work then you will need to open the battery, get access to the contacts and very carefully bend the fingers inwards so they grip the metal contacts in the psp better.

    • @darkdavid28
      @darkdavid28 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sjm4306 it's actually a snug fit for the battery and does not wiggle. Also the battery dinger connectors are in proper position for the pins in the console itself. I am at a loss as the old battery was oversized and was bad so I recycled it months ago.

    • @sjm4306
      @sjm4306  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      What I meant is that the metal contact pins inside the battery may be loose. I had the exact same problem with my 2000 and an after market chinese battery and opening the battery and pinching the metal fingers a little tighter fixed it.

      Probably two separate issues. Your battery might be near the end of its life whichwould explain the power and charging issues. Additionally, for the umd drive the laser lens might need cleaning or the laser itself could be burned out and need replacement.
