GATEWAY OF INDIA (VLOG

Our guide started out our tour by pointing out that Mumbai is a relatively young city (it's existed as a habitation since the Stone Age, but as a city, only since the days of the East India Company), and as such, doesn't have a lot of monuments. And then she promptly has us driven here, of all places.
We're wandering about the square in front of this massive arch, built in honor of the visit of Prince George (later King George V) to Mumbai in 1911. Right across from the square is a hotel built in a similarly Indian style, the Hotel Taj Mahal, built less than a decade before (and added to with a skyscraper in the 70s).
Beyond those basic descriptions, there's the realization that this is a somewhat awkward place to be recording, as there are people going about doing similar things as myself that I'm trying not to interfere with, and yet I can't help but comment upon…
