    I use my iPad for taking screenshots. I’ve been frustrated when I want a screenshot shot on my Mac because it seemed so difficult. Just finding the app drove me nuts. After watching your presentation I couldn’t believe how easy it is on the Mac. Thanks so much. I’ve been a Microsoft user since DOS 2.1. Making the transition to the Mac has been challenging for me. Thanks for facilitating the transition for me.

    Hi Gary. As usual, I looked at the title of this video and thought “I know how to do this“, but as usual, you are able to teach me at least three extra things that I didn’t know. In my case, the use of the PDF file is brilliant, because I often annotate screenshots and want to change the annotations later. I have certainly been frustrated in the past when I saved the annotations with the picture as a photo, never to be able to undo the annotations. Now I know to save it as a PDF and it will always be changeable, thank you so much. Another great video!

      Wow, you gave ME an idea now.
      I’ve been using a third-party app for screenshots, but I don’t think it can save as PDF
      Wow. Thanks a lot

      @@chezchezchezchez Sure! (I used to use Adobe for PDFs, but since Gary taught me the extent of Apple's native PDF editor (Preview), I was able to cancel my Adobe subscription and use only Preview. It does anything Adobe does, but better and is included with Mac software.)

    Thank you for your very simple to understand teachings Gary. I have learnt two important things that will improve my workflow. One is using the sketch tool to draw cirlcles and other shaoes, and, very importantly, have a speech bubble. Another very important lesson was that I could save as PDF files to retain the ability to further edit annotations. In my workflow of making sketches, I first create a BMP document in Patina, open the document in Preview where I draw the outlines, and again open the document in Patina to fill colour/erase; I wish Preview is provided with a shape fill colour feature that Patina has. Regards and God bless you and your family.

      Not sure what you mean? The parts where it shows me at the bottom right corner? That's not new. But I use ScreenFlow which allows me to use a green screen and place me anywhere and resize. Then I have another layer that is a graphic under that.

    Amazing! I have been using the Paste App for years, and paying for it! One question…what I love about Paste is the ability to save my captures in order and refer to them over time. Would I be able to do that with viewer with a dedicated folder for the screen captures? Thank you so much!

    • @macmost
      @macmost  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sure. Save them all to a common folder and then it would be easy to see them by date. Rename as needed.

    Question: does anybody use the app Shottr for screenshots?
    I do, but as far as I know, you can’t save as a PDF, so every time you mark things up, if you go back to it, you can’t edit the annotations. Is there a way to do that?
    Thx!

    When you are talking about sharing/saving screen shots at 7:03 "Preview.app" is on the menu, but later at 9:13 "Preview" is again on the menu, but without the file extension. You make a point of saying it's the app and not a folder. Is this just a inconsistency from Apple in the way screenshots are saved?

    • @macmost
      @macmost  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      One is the Share menu and one is the Options menu for the screenshot utility. They refer to the same thing.

    If I use a block that whites out an area, then reprint to a new PDF. Can anybody move that white block because I experimented it looks like when I reprinted no one can move that white block that I hid some text underneath it. Kinda like redacting, but just Whiting something out.
