I'm just not coming on the the cricut scene and found this video. This is awesome!! I have two kids and now I can make all kinds of things for their school books and notebooks, name stickers etc and not free bad when they peel them off or pick at them all the time!!!
YESSSSS IT WORKS...too well! I am a 1st grade teacher and used it to put my students names on their desks....I THOUGHT it would be EASY to get off the desks...BOY WAS I WRONG! It took a LOT to get them OFF! They also have a BLUE ONE! It works MUCH BETTER than I thought it would! I have the Air 2 and I cut mine on the Paper - setting.
I'm going to Dollar tree as soon as they open. My cricut is being shipped now and I'm too excited. I'm going to make things with my grandchildren. With Christmas around the corner, I have lots to learn and I won't feel bad if it makes me waste while learning. I didn't think of Dollar Tree until I started learning all sorts of new crafts on TH-cam. Now, thanks to your wonderful videos, I'm learning, saving money, and going completely off my diet. I discovered my favorite candy. Russell Stover marshmallow caramel chocolates at Dollar tree. Hmm, maybe I just need to take someone with me for intervention!
You are the first person I've seen doing this. While I was looking at your video new ideals just start popping into my head. Thanks so much for posting this.
I bought about 25 rolls in different colors and patterns. I also purchased a similar product, used to decorate lockers. Do not cut on regular vinyl setting. Washi is a good choice. When I first bought this stuff and cut on the vinyl setting, the cut went right through to the mat. The product has held up great though- a year and a half and it has not moved!
Awesome idea...this give me an option to use this paper for practice since I'm new to the cricut and how to use it...thx for sharing this makes me feel a bit confident on trying out my cricut finally :)
Yes it is a awesome idea. I've had my Cricut 5 days. I'm definitely going searching for this. I used a file folder today just to do a image and it came out great.
I did buy this and used it as well. I also have used it as a stencil for signs. It works just about as well as other brands out there. Thank you for sharing.
I received a Cricut for Christmas from my cat. LOL, Your video is so easy to follow along. I am a retired teacher and I just love the way you teach. Thank you so much.
I got one of these with woodgrain design to cover a hole in my bedroom wall since it matches the texture on the paneling. It's a weak wall and an office chair punched through. Its difficult to un-peal the adhesive film. I may just spray some glue on the wall and stick it over it. It might be a bit thicker that way at least.
I have used these on my classroom walls. Using my Silhouette Cameo 3 I have to change the force for regular vinyl from 10 to a 5 or it cut the backing.
Kelly Towle hi! I was thinking of using these for bulletin board covers to to “create” bulletins because I don’t have enough in my room (only 1 inside the classroom and one outside) so I was hoping these would stick without ruining the wall. Was this your experience?
thanks for the video, i bought some of these but i haven't used them yet and i too was wondering how good they are. because my dollar tree sells these and con-tact paper brand just in smaller amounts and i was curious about the magic covers. so great job, thanks for the info. i found a awesome blue at my dollar tree so keep your eye out for that color, i also found green and the orange but couldn't find the hot pink and i think they carry black and white but they get nabbed up fast..thanks again.....hey just a little FYI... i used to work for dollar tree as an assistant manager. and the way it works is most dollar tree carry roughly the same items, but each dollar tree will have certain special items that are unique to that specific dollar tree that you will not likely find at any other dollar tree unless you search like 10 or more different stores. so you pretty much hit the nail on the head. searching other stores is a great way to find things you cant find at any other dollar tree. also we sold things seasonally and some things we received only one time and never again and other things we would get only once every 2 or 3 years. ive had to wait 2 sometimes 3 years for an item i really wanted to pop back up. so if you find something really unique and cool i would recommend buying them up or at least a good quantity because you never know when you will see them again. sometimes its a one time thing and it will take up to 5 years or more for it to come back. i know its really weird to run a store that way but its true. hope this helps ya.
I haven’t seen those vinyl at my dollar trees. I’m going to have to make multiple trips to different locations. Thank you for the demonstration!! I’m hopeful to find it and create cute stencils :D
I think this would probably work for a temporary template/stencil. I am trying to frost the glasses of my kitchen cabinets so can peel it back off leaving the design as being clear.
I use magic cover (the large rolls from Walmart are under $3) & I cut it on the Washi Sheet setting on my Cricut to make stencils all the time. I use contact paper as a transfer sheet & it's so affordable for stencils to use on my wood signs.
Thanks! That's an awesome idea. I can't afford a cutter yet but my library's maker space has a free vinyl cutter. So I'll have to check that out soon. It would be a great way to make designs to say whatever you want.
@@boopeep9670 for me it has released really easy. I just slowly peel it off. If you're having problems though a tip may be to apply heat with a hairdryer, that may work.
Carly Kymer Figgins thanks for the tip. I don't have an electric cutter but I was thinking about maybe using it with my big shot die cutter. I'm new to using vinyl. Always looking for new ways to use my tools and supplies especially if I can save money along the way :) Thanks!
I didn't even know dollar tree had vinyl. Why are some people's dollar trees a goldmine for good stuff and mine isn't? I'm in Orlando too so maybe I just need to go to the other ones around town bc there are plenty of dollar trees around here.
I lived in Orlando and the dollar tree stores are the worst there. Since my move to Sarasota the dollar tree stores are a little more like the ones up north. The best one in Orlando is the one on Turkey Lake road by the Walmart.
Did you know you can order on line for the Dollar Tree? One issue is you have to order in quantity. But if you and a friend both need something you can split it. They'll delivery it to your store to hold for you.
Ughh! Finally...omg! Searched & searched for this info but everything described using contact paper as transfer tape not as a substitute for vinyl! Thank you for this!!
I used this for a Hot Mess Canvas. I had to cut multiple stencils. I use a cricut... I cut on the vinyl setting. It cut well! A little bit of an issue taking it off the mat.. Lots of cleaning off the backing paper. Beautiful to weed! Easy to attach to transfer paper... The only issue I had was it did not want to adhere to the canvas very well. I made an example and it adhered great. So I cut all the stencils the day before the class... I do not if it was because it stuck so well to the transfer paper or what?
I'mthinking of purchasing the Circut Maker to place Iron On Transfers on my face masks, t-shirts and to make my greeting cards I'm glad I saw your video. I'll check out Dollar Tree for that vinyl! Looks great!
i bought several rolls months ago with the same intent...I just never got around to trying them out! I'm glad I saw this and that it works the way I thought it would! definitely worth the $1 per roll compared to other vinyl for sale! thanks for making this video! I need to do something fun with 'em!
Thanks for doing this review. I use this for laser engraving masking, MUCH cheaper option than other vinyl masking. I only use the masking to prevent smoke staining so a dollar is the perfect cost!
Perfect video, it explains the material, shows us how to remove the transfer and apply the vinyl. As a beginner and just setting my Cricut up this is exactly what I was looking for, I tried my 1st cut and I think it cut correctly but I dont have any transfer paper/tape which I didnt know I needed so I'm not sure if that cut is no good or I can save it by just getting some transfer paper. Either way this video showed me some things I needed to know so thank you very much.
True. You could do holiday themes as well. Plus you're more likely to get your pan back if you include your phone number and possibly a death threat or two. Just for your favorite pan though.
love this . I have been checking out sites as my daughter just purchased a cricut and we are going to have craft night this will be great for practice and it will certainly save the good stuff for Good projects . So glad I found you .
I had the first cricut that ever came out and sold it years ago. Been thinking about getting another one and I'm amazed at how different they are now! This video is giving me cricut fever though! I'm learning so much! Thanks!
I made my childrens "First Day of School" boards using this and some black foam board also from the dollar tree. They turned out really cute. Only issue with the end result is using a dark board made the color less vibrant.
I recently snagged some glitter adhesive vinyl sheets from dollar tree. They had them in a 3 pack of 3 colors. Found 2 different packs with 3 different colors in each. Haven’t seen these yet. I’ll have to look for them. They also had printed magnet sheets that were advertised as locker wallpaper or something like that. Great video
I double checked my sheets and they are not made of vinyl but they are glitter adhesive paper sheets. Sorry, I was confused but they are still very cool to find in a dollar tree. Looked again for more of them and can’t find them in my store but a store worker stocking shelves told me they don’t get to pick their stock, it is shipped randomly from the warehouse. However they do still have them on their dollar tree website and come in 6 different packs of colors. They may get them at anytime. If you haven’t found them yet just keep checking or order in bulk online. They are by JOT and I found them in with the scrapbooking stickers. The magnet sheets I found during the back to school stock in with school supplies. Hope this helps and sorry for my confusion of vinyl vs. paper. I know there’s a huge difference.
Thanks so-much, I’m trying to get brave and use my Crichton . Now I won’t be wasting the high dollar materials. I’m fixing yo check and see if you have any more videos about using a circuit as I am just learning how to use mine. I have had it since November and I a.m Very intimidated by it,
My cousin uses regular contact paper from the .99 cents store. They have solid colors and prints. Another friend uses vinyl you buy off the bolt from the fabric store and makes earrings and such using the Cricut .
CrystalAnn Crystal, try also in wedding depts like in Walmart. They always have white, silver and gold. Ppl use it to decorate a lot of items for weddings. (Also try the paper depts/stores for parties and baby showers.) Items are not always where you might expect too. I once went to get chocolate syrup and it wasn't with the ice cream or milk. Manager told me they shelve it with the ketchup.? Oh, of course, everyone puts chocolate syrup on their hamburgers. Good luck. Hope you find what you want.
@@grandmalovesmebest HAHAHA feel you there, the weirdest thing i've seen in a store, laxatives with the paper plates and cups.... it'd have been funny if it was with the cleaning supplies, but the picnic stuff?? they've since changed it to pharmacy where its with the AD meds lol
Could you please do a video on the same exact vinyl to see if it will work just as well as a stencil? I’m thinking about purchasing this for my cricket to make stencils but I want to make sure it’s going to stick down to the wood well so the paint won’t bleed underneath or through the vinyl thank you
I got the exact same colors a while back and tried it. It works rather well. I use that or contact paper for temporary things, opposed to using my Oracle 351/651.
Is this similar to 631? I want to make a removable decal for my daughters dorm room bathroom wall and this is the perfect color for the peach in the design.
I want to use this vinyl and my cricut the make a decal for the outside of my Chromebook. I would just use my cricut brand vinyl but dollar tree has some really cute patterns!
Awesome! I've seen them at my local DT, of course had no idea they would go in my cricut lol . I'm new to my cricut maker still learning. Your videos are awesome. Ty!
Thanks so much for this video. I've looked on Amazon anf found lots of adhesive vinyl for very reasonable prices. We don't have DollarTree over here in the UK but we do have Pound Shops. So, it may be worth me having a look in them but I doubt they will have any. Plenty online.
I wrote this because my first comment had disappeared but I see it further down! So, sorry for the duplication. I got the price wrong for the pack of vinyl sheets! They are £19.99. Twice as much but still good value.
Maybe you don't realise it but if you put foil (like Deco Foil) over the top, this cheap vinyl should actually get foiled if you run it through a laminator - just need to experiment with the weight of carrier and heat. Let the laminator get good and hot first!
Can someone give me a quick explanation of how the whole process works? I would love to start making my own monograms, but most videos aren’t very detail oriented and gives the assumption that the viewer already knows the basics. A good machine, how to create your monogram formats, the type of papers needed, etc. would be helpful to know. Thanks in advance 😊
hi crystal sorry my last comment may have been not 100% accurate..the dollar tree vinly is 3mil thick but thats measuring with the adhesive on it..the oracal 651 is 2.5mil not including the adhesive film..so they are proabably both about the same thickness....:) either way the dollar tree stuff is a goode value in your tool box and if you goof up who cares its cheap enough...:) i made my friend a bunch of dog foot prints using the dollar tree vinyl and she put them all over her fridge :)
Omg! I just found your channel and I’m thrilled to see this video! I’m a beginner with Cricut and have already ruined some expensive vinyl, so I’m grabbing some of this today!
Just wanted to point out that the thickness doesn't actually have anything to do with being permanent or not. In fact, 751 (which is often used for marine vinyl) is thinner and has a longer outdoor durability rating than 651 (permanent vinyl). In fact, they both have the same exact adhesive! By being thinner it actually lasts longer. The less of the vinyl that is raised off the surface the easier it is to not catch and lift. It also doesn't fade as easy (which has nothing to do with the thickness, just mentioning the differences). I would imagine that the dollar store vinyl being thin is actually an asset to it lasting longer. Although, since it is meant for text books and to be removed I'd imagine the adhesive is not meant to be "permanent". Thank you for this video, though! I loved it and picked up some tonight for my kids to play with without secretly wishing they wouldn't use my vinyl, haha! Great video!
Man how I wish I had a cricut. Maybe once I go back to work I'll get one. I've been furloughed since march 15th. I'm a server. I was supposed to go back today to clean but cant. My FIL visited parents on Sunday & they both tested positive yesterday. So because my husband works with him, and I live with my husband, we have to be tested. So hopefully we're negative and I can get back to making money and imma save for a cricut!
I was given U-ZM Heat Transfer Vinyl for Christmas with my Cricut. I used the Iron On and the Vinyl settings on my cricut to cut the material, but neither cut was all the way through the vinyl. It is pretty heavy. I wanted to make a t-shirt iron on. Any suggestions on material or settings would be helpful.
Wow that is amazing! I love your idea of using it for stencils! Would you ever consider doing a video testing it out as a stencil? What other things would you use removable vinyl for?
Thank you so much and yes I will do a video on this. I would also use it for window cling as long as it was temporary and it could be used for stickers on cards, scrapbooking so many ideas
I used this vinyl to decorate plastic folders in my Kindergarten School Supplies video. I just cut it into shapes with scissors and stuck them down. It worked great!
I went to 3 dollar tree stores today. No luck and none of the employees were aware. I even tried searching for it on their website. Not listed or I'm using the wrong search words.
Its only available in store and I have had a few employees comment on here saying its only available during school supplies season so Jun-Oct Maybe. Hope this helps
I don' t know where you're getting your vinyl at removable vinyl comes in just about any finish you can think of. I've got a lot of it in matte, gloss satin, chrome, carbon fiber, matte metallic, gloss metallic etc. You just have to know how to look. most of the high quality vinyls or not going to be made in the U.S.
Have you tried Dollar tree Vinyl?
This is great for a beginner like myself. I won't feel so bad with messing up $1 vinyl. Thank you!
You are so welcome and I agree great practice material I seen where others are putting it on washi tape settings to cut
Exactly!

Did you try using a blow dryer on high heat setting or a heat gun ? either of the two should have removed it easily.
You should have used printable vinyl instead of permanent
A good option possibly for the epoxied tumblers since they would be sealed in place

I left the vinyl on the scrapper tool so we can see how long it last I seen alot of comments of people using it for test cuts as well
Cool. Looking forward to an update.
I have seen that and am very new to cricut. Hope I can find some again. Think the green and orange are great for Halloween
draw on the back and the kids can use them for stickers. If they stick it on stuff like tv or your phone screen, you can peel it off.
Great to know! I'm a beginner and will definitely use this idea to practice. Thanks
When I used this I found that it was much thinner than other vinyl . I would like to know it would hold up long term.
Great tips i'm getting a Cricut as a gift from my son, so excited.
Thank you and thank is awesome way to go mom
I love mine. I have the Air 2❤
Is this similar to 631? I want to make a removable decal for my daughters dorm room bathroom wall and this is the perfect color for the peach in the design.
yes its is and that would be awesome
I want to use this vinyl and my cricut the make a decal for the outside of my Chromebook. I would just use my cricut brand vinyl but dollar tree has some really cute patterns!
Awesome! I just saw this stuff at my dollar store the other day and wondered about it. Thank you so much. Such good info.
Thank you and your welcome
Awesome! I've seen them at my local DT, of course had no idea they would go in my cricut lol . I'm new to my cricut maker still learning. Your videos are awesome. Ty!
Thank you I almost passed them up and decided to stop and look it over :)
Crystal is the best if you are new to the cricut maker family. I've learned so much from her!
Crystal is the best if you are just getting started on the cricut maker
It would be good for projects like cups and things with a epoxy coat
Its crazy how you can weave in the air!!! You are a true pro!
awww thank you so much
Crafting Queens:I have the very old Cricut cutter... Like the 1st one made, what setting should I use? It doesn't have all the fancy stuff. 💜🤔😊
oh lord I can't even think of what setting that has lol i would do some small test cuts like a square
@@YouCanTotallyMakeThat I actually found a very old video explaining how to do it! Crazy, huh!
Bubbles n Lipgloss - how do I use vinyl on the old Cricut?
I have the first circut I used setting 2 and 2 cut it out perfectly!
I also use contact paper for practice cut to see how it weeds
super smart
Thanks so much for this video. I've looked on Amazon anf found lots of adhesive vinyl for very reasonable prices. We don't have DollarTree over here in the UK but we do have Pound Shops. So, it may be worth me having a look in them but I doubt they will have any. Plenty online.
I wrote this because my first comment had disappeared but I see it further down! So, sorry for the duplication. I got the price wrong for the pack of vinyl sheets! They are £19.99. Twice as much but still good value.
@@lunasmum6869 I wonder if you can order from their site. Just a thought😊
I bought it last year to try but haven't. Guess I will have to use it and buy some more !
Maybe you don't realise it but if you put foil (like Deco Foil) over the top, this cheap vinyl should actually get foiled if you run it through a laminator - just need to experiment with the weight of carrier and heat. Let the laminator get good and hot first!
Love this. Such an inexpensive way to do vinyl projects with kiddos too!
Great video! Even if it doesn't work as well as other brands, it's great for beginners or practice.
They also have glitter too, and they work fine the glitter come three in a pack for a dollar very few colors.
Oh my goodness thank you for sharing
Loretta do you remember what section?
I know this is an older video, but it is still relevant; thanks for the info! You do a great job of explaining!!
I am so excited to try this as a stencil... Thank you 🤗
Let's hope the dollar trees in Michigan have them 🤞🏼
I love this! I feel so thick for not knowing you can use contact paper to pull off vinyl🙃. I'm going tomorrow to my DT to see if they have any vinyl
You are awesome Crystal! Always looking for ways tu explains our knowledge and save some money!
awww Thank you so much. I really enjoy it fills my heart and you guys make it so worth it. The best subscribers ever!
Where do you find the clear one at dollar tree is it in the kitchen section or in the arts and crafts or the school supplies
l bought glitter sheets at the dollar tree.. I will try them here soon
I have been using this for a long time. It is not the same as vinyl, but is still a nice replacement.
hi crystal sorry my last comment may have been not 100% accurate..the dollar tree vinly is 3mil thick but thats measuring with the adhesive on it..the oracal 651 is 2.5mil not including the adhesive film..so they are proabably both about the same thickness....:) either way the dollar tree stuff is a goode value in your tool box and if you goof up who cares its cheap enough...:) i made my friend a bunch of dog foot prints using the dollar tree vinyl and she put them all over her fridge :)
Omg! I just found your channel and I’m thrilled to see this video! I’m a beginner with Cricut and have already ruined some expensive vinyl, so I’m grabbing some of this today!
Oh wow, I didn't know that.. I see this video was done in 2018. Does anybody know, if they still sell them?
My local dollar has them
Just wanted to point out that the thickness doesn't actually have anything to do with being permanent or not.
I used this stuff on my car! It worked great to make cute designs and peel off later
I have the pink one I haven't found other 2 colors
Man how I wish I had a cricut.
Maybe once I go back to work I'll get one.
I've been furloughed since march 15th. I'm a server.
I was supposed to go back today to clean but cant. My FIL visited parents on Sunday & they both tested positive yesterday. So because my husband works with him, and I live with my husband, we have to be tested.
So hopefully we're negative and I can get back to making money and imma save for a cricut!
Can you use it as permanent if you cover the surface with epoxy?
You always think of the coolest things, Crystal. Thank you!
awww thank you so much and your welcome
I was given U-ZM Heat Transfer Vinyl for Christmas with my Cricut. I used the Iron On and the Vinyl settings on my cricut to cut the material, but neither cut was all the way through the vinyl. It is pretty heavy. I wanted to make a t-shirt iron on. Any suggestions on material or settings would be helpful.
Amazing, thank you! I love these types of videos with tips and tricks.
Practice cuts to see how something weeds
Also anything that's not handled much indoors...
Planner stickers, scrapbooking, frames aka glass
Jessica Cockerell great ideas! 😄
I used this vinyl to decorate plastic folders in my Kindergarten School Supplies video. I just cut it into shapes with scissors and stuck them down. It worked great!
Had no idea DT had that! Thank you!
What section do you find them in the Dollar tree because I looked.
Im so so glad you did this im new to it so if i mess up ..its not costing me and arm and leg ...thank you
I went to 3 dollar tree stores today. No luck and none of the employees were aware. I even tried searching for it on their website. Not listed or I'm using the wrong search words.
Its only available in store and I have had a few employees comment on here saying its only available during school supplies season so Jun-Oct Maybe. Hope this helps
Never would have thought about that!
They have a blue color as well. I bought them but had not used yet because of my computer deciding to take a time out.
awww come on computer no time out!! lol thank you fo the info
There are many different colors and patterns.
I picked up the Last 2 at my DT yesterday. I have a feeling they only come out For back to school sales.
Thats what another subscriber said they only sale them during school sales
I don' t know where you're getting your vinyl at removable vinyl comes in just about any finish you can think of. I've got a lot of it in matte, gloss satin, chrome, carbon fiber, matte metallic, gloss metallic etc. You just have to know how to look. most of the high quality vinyls or not going to be made in the U.S.
Vapors_Allegiance So kind of you to let us know where you got yours. 😠
How do you use a small piece of vinyl? Does it automatically know the size or do you change it in the settings?
You change it to the size you have
my local dollar tree doesn't sell this and I cant find it on the website .
Where did u get your contact paper 😊
