India planned to focus on the speed of trains in the country due to its growing dependence on Railways as a transportation medium. Another reason for the same was the growing economy. Thereby, the Bullet Train Project in India was introduced.
It was in 2017 that the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe laid the foundation of the Mumbai to Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) Project.

There are about 300 Bullet trains in Japan. 55 Bullet trains in China. India is yet to start a Bullet train which is expected in 2026. Focus needs to be on maintaining time schedule of existing trains as in Japan.

Why such costly project?We have to pay back such loan in dollars.If time is the main factor,they may travel by air.Our external debt is increasing day by day.Export is not growing as import.Our external debt was around 33 lakh crores in 2014,increased to 43.32 lakh crores in'21.... will exceed 50 lakh crores by the end of '23.Without improving the railway infrastructure,it is worthless to spend 1.8 lakh crore of rupees (3 times of the yearly railway budget)after a project (spanning 500 km)for rich people.3rd or 4th biggest economy is not the big thing.Compare our external debt with our GDP which reflects our loan repayment capability.Slowly and slowly our country will become another Pakistan
