yeah giving something that strong to water when misty already exists would be broken. the discard 3 energy is to balance such an op move. 20 splash damage is crazy value. up to 210 damage potential to all of the opponents pokemon’s collective hp in one turn which is more than dragonite’s 200 damage. palkia’s attack isn’t rng reliant either to get it’s full damage potential and it’s a basic so getting this attack off is a lot easier. it’s not spamable without lucky misty flips but you really just need to get off one or two of these to win you a game
Dialga is an awesome early ramp card for steel/colorless attackers with late game potential to pick off a weakened EX Pokémon. It feels like moltres EX with a little more range
I could see a Palkia Deck with luminion. Palkia stalls the first turns dealing pressure with a consisant 30 attack, then eventually gets 2 prices when activated with misty. Then luminion snipes the damaged bench for the final price.
I doubt they would exclude any pokemon besides maybe mythicals like they did with mew, genetic apex had ALL gen1 pokemon except a secret mew, and pokemon from other gens on top of that. I'd be pissy if they exclude any gen4 pokemon and then have pokemon from any other gen.

Mankey will deal 70 damage on turn 1 (and 10 to itself, assuming you have both Lucario out already and they stack), and then 140 when evolved to Primeape, meaning it'll do 150 damage with a Gio for only 2 energy.
I think Leafeon’s attack rule is you attack one turn, but you can’t attack in the next one. If the only drawback is not being able to retreat the following turn, then it’s pretty much a grass-type Starmie ex with only 1 point deduction.

I'm pretty glad we're getting two packs instead of the three people were expecting. A huge number of cards on launch was important so there's a solid foundation, but since old sets are meant to stay around, less new cards means they can be more interesting and easier to collect.
@@Danny_Deleto I don't know, I hadn't thought about starter division between the packs. But since they've shown two packs, one dialga themed and the other palkia, it'd be crazy if they'd kept a third one secret for now.
For Palkia, I don’t think they’ll add something that supports water because Misty exists already. Rather, I think they’ll add something that supports pokemon that discard energy. Maybe a tool that says discard 1 less energy. That way, you don’t buff other water types, but you can also impact fire types and mewtwo
Since serperior was a support started for grass and piplup has nap, I'm guessing empoleon will be a support mon too, in order to ramp water energy and make mysty nothing more than a meme, and to make palkia more consistent. That's my prediction.

I think it's safe to say Dialga is another Moltres. You're really only going to use the second ability if you have one/two of them and nothing else. You definitely want to be putting all the extra energy on a Melmetal or new card.
I don't see many people talking about this, but notice how none of the cards already showcased has a coinflip effect. I hope this is true for most of the cards in this expansion, since we already have sooo much rng in the game.

im hyped for the lucario card thats gonna go crazy with machamp edit: i think it will go well with kabutops as well since he heals the amount of damage he does and kabutops is only a stage 2 evolution
That cynthia is gonna make the garchomp deck broken(maybe) We see that gobble is fighting, meaning the deck works with lucario, meaning before we even consider garchomp's attack, it can possibly do a minimum of 70 damage.
I hope they absolutely do not give water any energy ramping. Water has SO much already with Misty and Vaporean, and adding more is just going to break water even further.
Leafeon's attack definitely is "During your next turn, this pokemon can't ATTACK". That's definitely has more sense than can't retreat. Imagine, you have Leafeon and can deal 180 damage in two turns with only two energies and not as an ex pokemon, that's busted. Whereas it is balanced if it can't attack next turn after dealing 90 dmg with only two energies.
Metallic Turbo feels slow if you are going first against quick setup decks like Pikachu EX and Stormy EX. If you are going first and pikachu EX can hit you for 90 damage by turn 2 you find yourself in a position where Dialga is at 60 HP before you can even use Metallic Turbo once and you find yourself in a position where you may need to retreat him without using it once or give your opponent 2 points for 2 metal energy.
@@sanjuichi7053naah, its busted if that was the case. With only two energies, it can dish out 180 dmg in two turns. Its definitely can't attack next turn.

I think palkia is more like raichu (the 1st one) you use it more like a finisher, is like a nuke, or use it in the beginning and then no more. I don’t think is a bad card, but I don’t think there would be a deck just around palkia, but with palkia (meaning palkia is not the “protagonist” or the “star” of the deck, like mew ex kinda, but less versatile)
Palkia is unfortunately a worst vesion of mewtwo, discarding 3 energies instead of 2 just to deal 20 extra damage for each benched pokemon is not worth it at all, they need to buff the amount of damage to 30 or maybe even 40 to actually be worth it.
Not when paired with vaporeon and misty, its a better gyarados, on top of the 1 energy 30 damage with 150 hp, you likely only need the 150 attack once.
@@Zonose The fact that you can only attack once is the problem, with mewtwo you can attack every turn with his main attack once you get gardevoir, even if you pulled both palkia and misty from your deck at the same turn, you are not guaranteed to get any energy from misty.
@@AdamMattar-f6b sadly misty and vaporeon are already op and people complain about them enough, if we had an exact copy of mewtwo PLUS 20 damage to the entire opposing bench, I think there would be a riot against water types. It's just one more energy discarded for that extra bench damage, so I think misty and vaporeon make up for it.
I don't think Palkia is that bad. Not saying that it's better than Dialga either. I see him in the context of a game finisher. Does massive damage with spread not only KOs the active bit finishes off any low bench. You can go from 0 to 3 prize points if you play your cards right.
I agree. People are way to focused on palkia second attack like it’s supposed to be a sweeper but I see the first attack and think I can use this as my wall for gyarados or starmie and it won’t be completely useless late game combine it with vaporeon and you can chip the enemy and potentially finish them off if they play it wrong
@B-C_Bourrasque105 I think It's bulky enough to start with it for a couple of turn while powering up your sweeper than Leaf out and come in later to deal finishing blow via Vaporeon.
Lucarios ability must stack from multiple Lucarios since it doesn't say otherwise. Pokemon with passive effects like that from set 1 specify that they don't stack.
I must be too old because once I seen gen 4 and cresselia you have to know Darkrai is cooking they are a pair. There are a lot of gen 1 pokemon who got 3rd forms in gen 4. Which means you can have togekiss without the prior forms. Can’t introduce Magmortar who electivire without the first forms.
I think people are hating on palkia too early yes if you focus on its second attack it may not look great but as a wall in front of others like gyarados it is great currently people use drud which has 100 hp and does 20 if hit but palkia has 150 and does 30 with one energy if you make a deck with gyarados Vaporeon and palkia you put a energy on palkia to chip and set up on bench then leaf it out and move the energy to gyarados when ready to sweep also if say you chip a basic to 20 hp and they swap to a ex move all energy to palkia and kill active and bench to win it’s basically a more useful drud I think it is a Wall for water that can benefit from misty but likely won’t be your main misty target
Dialga giving 2 steel energy to ANY Pokémon in the bench is huge for Mew and other colorless cards.

Just roll 10 heads with misty and do the attack thrice in a row
That Dialga-Melmetal relationship is gonna be kinda like Moltres-Charizard
I don't think Palkia is that bad. Not saying that it's better than Dialga either. I see him in the context of a game finisher. Does massive damage with spread not only KOs the active bit finishes off any low bench. You can go from 0 to 3 prize points if you play your cards right.
I agree. People are way to focused on palkia second attack like it’s supposed to be a sweeper but I see the first attack and think I can use this as my wall for gyarados or starmie and it won’t be completely useless late game combine it with vaporeon and you can chip the enemy and potentially finish them off if they play it wrong
It's a water type Raichu that can 1 shot Mewtwo.
@@metha9987
That is worth 2 points though
@B-C_Bourrasque105 I think It's bulky enough to start with it for a couple of turn while powering up your sweeper than Leaf out and come in later to deal finishing blow via Vaporeon.
@@metha9987 Yeah ofc

Lucarios ability must stack from multiple Lucarios since it doesn't say otherwise. Pokemon with passive effects like that from set 1 specify that they don't stack.
exactly
Bro 90 damage with one energy with prime ape is crazy pair that with gio will be 100 and weakness to electric type will be 120 for just one energy
Primeape with 1 energy and lucario hit for 70. Thats so good
I bet one of the starters will buff palkia
I must be too old because once I seen gen 4 and cresselia you have to know Darkrai is cooking they are a pair. There are a lot of gen 1 pokemon who got 3rd forms in gen 4. Which means you can have togekiss without the prior forms. Can’t introduce Magmortar who electivire without the first forms.
1:44 Pocket Monsters is the original name so boss monster isn't wrong
IM SOOO EXITED FOR DARKRAI !!!!!
Lucario with machamp will be sick
Yoooo Garchomp and Cynthia Supporter card + more Metal support 😊 let's gooo!
Please let garchomp be fighting Energy and normal hh
@@ironically2009nah, Gibble is shown to be dragon type. Garchomp will definitely use dual type energy, maybe fighting/fire?
Open up with Palkia as a 1st hand is busted! Even without Misty, a 150HP Pkmn with one cost energy 30 Atk is super strong.
LETS GOOO POKÉMON TOOLS
I think people are hating on palkia too early yes if you focus on its second attack it may not look great but as a wall in front of others like gyarados it is great currently people use drud which has 100 hp and does 20 if hit but palkia has 150 and does 30 with one energy
if you make a deck with gyarados Vaporeon and palkia you put a energy on palkia to chip and set up on bench then leaf it out and move the energy to gyarados when ready to sweep also if say you chip a basic to 20 hp and they swap to a ex move all energy to palkia and kill active and bench to win it’s basically a more useful drud I think it is a Wall for water that can benefit from misty but likely won’t be your main misty target
Lmao ur so real for immediately recognizing that palkia ex is gonna be a huge misty target that’s exactly what I thought 😭😂
Any water Pokémon is a misty target what are you on
@ I meant a good misty target what r u on

I would be so happy if they do a beautiful driblim EX or yanmega EX
I feel like Darkrai will have an ability to put Pokemon to sleep, and then he will do more damage to asleep Pokemon
Darkrai+Hypno deck?
So excited 😁😁😁😁
