Lyrics:
shadows whisper secrets long untold
eyes that pierce the moon's cold glow
fangs ache by midnight's calling
lost in a hunger darkly crawling
echoes scream inside my hollow soul
crimson dreams where darkness roams
flesh and blood a twisted thirst
night's embrace, a curse, the thirst
give me life give me death give me endless night
taste of the sorrow drink your fright
never-ending hunger deep within
a dance with shadows let the curse begin
cemetery whispers ballad of the damned
fallen angels tears in their hands
blood red wine where desires flow
eternal midnight souls in tow
silent screams beneath the grave
candles flicker the shadows crave
eternal longing in these veins
moonlit passions endless chains
hollow winds serenade the void
dark romance where hearts destroyed
thirst that lingers never dies
eyes like daggers ancient ties
WHAT A
HORRIBLE
NIGHT TO
HAVE A
CURSE.

I've been DM'ed several times, so for those of you who are curious, the vocal effect we use here is called a Phase Shifter. You can use them for instruments and vocals, but they are rarely cranked the way we did on this song. I'm glad you all thought it was cool :)
Some guy joked about the pic, but I for one like it for one inparticular reason.
The eyes. Those eyes show pain and anger, a real kind. I know that pain even if the sources may differ.
It's a great picture beyond the superficial.
Song is nice, as well. I'm picture fixated because the other comment making like it was a joke at being unimpressed at the world.
gratidão
Is this gothic music? I've been looking to get into the genre but I'm not quite sure which elements to look for. I'm so used to metal I just kinda think everything sounds like metal lmao
"Trying to get into a genre" always seems weird to me, just enjoy the music lol, there is no way to do it wrong. Btw, gothic music is about as varied as metal, there are so many different sub-sub-genres that people on all corners will look at the others and say "not my gothic".
If you want to start traditionally, the most common suggestions are Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Sisters of Mercy. Though I feel like, nowadays younger people only know maybe 1 or 2 songs from them.
If you're into slightly more modern, melancholic rock, then Mono Inc is a must imo. For modern, female-fronted music, two of my personal favourites are The Birthday Massacre and Ladytron. But there are so many others of those sorts, who do indeed have significant overlaps with symphonic metal as you've already observed.
Going into a very different direction, DJs in goth clubs play a lot of music that would fall under Dark Electro, Darkwave, FuturePop, SynthPop, Synthwave, Aggrotech, ... just google those keywords and check what you might like :)
As I said, the gothic subculture is vast and diverse - there are so many great artists, I can't name them all in a TH-cam comment. But I hope I could provide a few helpful pointers to get your exploration started :)
