  • In this video I traveled to Blue Diamond, Nevada which is just about 35 mins from my home in Henderson Nevada or about 25 mins from the Las Vegas strip. The city of Blue Diamond has only about 260 residents, but it lies right in the middle of over 70 of the best mountain bike trails in the Las Vegas area. This trail region is called the Cottonwood Valley Trail System.
    LANDMINE LOOP TRAIL: The trail I road during this video is called The Landmine Loop Trail. This trail offers the main access to the rest of Blue Diamond/Cottonwood Valley trails. It's a pretty decent climb and a fun and challenging downhill when you're headed back in. Don't forget to look up and look around.. you can get some great views of the red hills of the canyon. This trail is mainly dirt and rock but it can get technical at times. You can split off this trail at any time to find some more fun dirt or use it to do laps around the mountain. This trail is 7.2 miles long with 511 ft of climbing. There is really nothing to technical about this trail. There are a lot of large boulders on the backside of the trail which might make beginner riders nervous. The boulders are how Landmine Loop got its name actually. The average time to complete the trail is 1 hour but on an eMTB you can do it in 45 mins or less easily.
    Finding the trailhead is a little tricky. You will need to ride from the parking area through some residential streets to get to the starting point. Use Trailforks as a guide and she should have no problem. There is also full cellphone service through most of the Cottonwood Valley region.
    NOTE: You can also connect from this trail to make a large loop of 9.5 miles. That trail is called "The Blue Diamond Loop".
    TRAIL INFO: www.trailforks... & www.trailforks...
    PARKING TIP: There is a Trek bike repair and bike rental shop in Blue Diamond with a lot of parking spots. This is a great spot to park and socialize with other MTB riders. This parking area fills up quick on good weather weekends so if you can't find a spot there, park near the baseball field/community park.
    BIKE SHOP: There is a Trek bike repair and bike rental shop in Blue Diamond. They rent MTB's, EMTBS, Road Cycling bikes, as well as carry a decent amount of the common parts. They also do repairs on site and have tools, water, air, and bike washing stations. This shop is not open every day so check their site for more info: www.trekbikes....
    RESTAURANT: There is a bike friendly restaurant right next to the Trek bike shop. Cottonwood Station is a local scenic eatery which attracts many hikers, mountain bike riders, road cyclists from around the world. See their website for more info: cottonwoodstat...
    If you have questions about this trip/ride please feel free to ask them in the comments.

    FOR VIDEO NERDS: I tested shooting this video with my Insta 360 One R in Log mode (or flat color mode). Unfortunately, my drone does not have a flat color mode. Thus trying to color grade the videos from both cameras turned out to be a challenge. I find it easier to leave the Insta 360 One R in Vivid Color mode instead of Log mode because the color closely matches the drone footage with only some minor adjustments. I just ordered another One R with a 1" lens mod. I will be testing that later this week. I hope to have a wider prespective, with better dynamic range, and better clarity in sunset/low light conditions.

    THE BIKE RIDEZ STORY & MISSION :
    We are e-bike explorers! This channel is continuing to evolve. The current focus is the scenic beauty and peaceful landscape of the trails we ride, not the actual mountain bike riding or e-bikes we are ridding. Although we thoroughly love riding our eMTBs for exercise and adventure, bike riding is our primary form of meditation and stress relief. Our bike rides allow for a few hours without our phones where we can stay focused on being in the moment. Best of all we get to share with you some of the best and most spectacular scenic bike trails in the United States. At BikeRidez, it's not always about the ride, it's about the view!

    Blue diamond sure is a gem, once I had a pack of burros come and run beside me on a bike trail and hurded them off into the distance,there's also real petroglyphs and tons of scenic backdrops to explore. Also my potisi is beautiful.

    Cool video. Its amazing how many riders you came across. Back in the early 2000s you could ride all day out there and never see anyone. Thanks for the video!

      So that was an unusual amount of people on the trail, although it is a popular trail. It was a Saturday morning, and there was a large group of people on a guided tour. I try not to film on weekends when the trails are more crowded but sometimes if the temp is good, the clouds in the sky are right, and there is low wind for the drone... i take advantage when I can.

      Yes that area has the most rattle snakes in the region. I've only seen one snake, a couple of turtles and a lot of burrows!

    I think I've seen every video on your channel. I'm pretty sure I haven't seen 7 Magic Mountains or the Ivanpah Solar Station in the background on any of your adventures.

      Hi! First, I truly would love to thank you for watching my videos! Secondly, your comments about locations to make further videos is well appreciated as I've been researching different video ideas for the last several weeks. As for the Ivanpah Solar Station, I've driven past it on my way to California but I'm really not too informed yet on whether their is a trail(s) around there that are worth doing a video about. I will do some research. As for the 7 Magic Mountains. That is not too far from my house in Henderson. I will research it a bit more today and see if I can shoot out there on Friday to take a gander! If you have any other ideas, please feel free to mention them. Again, thank you for your support!

      @@BikeRidez: Even if there were trails around Ivanpah, it's verrry doubtful that they would allow a drone, but if they did, that would be cool to see! Same with 7 Magic Mountains.
      Keep up the awesome work you're doing!

    Great video. Do you know if Cottonwood system includes Cowboy trails or is Cowboy its own region?

    • @BikeRidez
      @BikeRidez  ปีที่แล้ว

      I checked Trailforks. Cowboy and Cottonwood are considered different trail regions but they are next to each other.

    The color on your gopro looks a little off on this video. did you change settings or cameras?

    • @BikeRidez
      @BikeRidez  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching! Yes you are correct. I tried putting insta 360 one r in log mode (flat color panel). I thought it would make it easier to color grade the footage from the drone, the action camera and iPhone. But, it was very hard for me to match the drone footage. I tried dozens of LUTS and custom adjustments but it’s still is off. After a long comparison, leaving the one r in vivid color mode seems to match the drone footage with only a little correction. Note the drone doesn’t have a flat color panel mode. I just got a second one r today with the 1” sensor mod. The 1” lens is huge next to the 4k mod I’ve been using. I did a quick test ride around my neighborhood today and the footage looks pretty good. Def more dynamic range and sharper. Hopefully I can’t test it out on some trails this weekend.

    Is he riding an E bike on a 7 mile trail....🙄

    • @BikeRidez
      @BikeRidez  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      LOL! I feel you. I said the same thing for several years when I saw people on e-bikes when I was pedaling my butt off. But, yes, Evan I'm riding an EMTB. 40+ years of riding a non-electric bike and I can tell you the EMTB is probably the best toy I have bought in 20 years. I can now ride 16-20 miles every day, 4 to 5 days per week, even after working a 12 hour day. And.. you can get what you want out of an e-bike... if you want to work, lower your pedal assist. If you need the help, increase it.
