The difference between JJ Watt and Kap though is that JJ Watt is doing it on his own time, isn’t disrupting the locker room/his own team, and was actually still focused primarily on football. Every image/interview question during the time Kap starting kneeling was about the knee and even now when he had an opportunity to show teams his skills, he still found a way to talk about politics. I don’t always agree with SAS on stuff but I actually agree with him on Kap.
His cause was worth it. Millions already support his cause. I supported his cause well before he was born. Colin received the ire of NFL fan base because he knelt during the anthem. The NFL underestimated the patriotism of their fan base. This year, when the players dropped a knee again, I made the decision to never watch football again, at any level where players disrespect the anthem. I still give to social justice issues. I still counsel prison inmates and push for prisoner reentry programs. I still support blue lives matter and counsel for free the families of fallen police officers. When Colin attached his reputation to a kneeling of the anthem protest DURING his day job, at work, myself and hundreds of thousands of us walked away from the game. It wasn’t because of disagreeing that there are social justice problems. It wasn’t because he’s black. Not for me, anymore than Supporting JJ Watts causes because he’s white. That is way to simplistic. It was this rich, black NFL player thumbing his nose at something more beloved than the NFL. And that is our Republic. There is no forgiveness for treading there...ever. If you doubt it, check out social media related comments from then until now. You’ll see what I mean. The other major issue is the platform he used to protest. None of the rest of us are allowed to bring our causes to work with us. He had so many forums he could have used, but because he chose his day job where most of don’t want to think about work or problems in our Country for 3 hours, he blew it. That’s what I think. Because of what he started, fans started looking at some of Kap’s off field antics, and that, I believe, sealed his fate.

If it wasn't for the stance hes taking (and the amount of money hes asking) he would almost certainly be on an NFL roster. But its still not a right to play professional sports. I still counsel prison inmates and push for prisoner reentry programs. I still support blue lives matter and counsel for free the families of fallen police officers. When Colin attached his reputation to a kneeling of the anthem protest DURING his day job, at work, myself and hundreds of thousands of us walked away from the game. It wasn’t because of disagreeing that there are social justice problems. It wasn’t because he’s black. Not for me, anymore than Supporting JJ Watts causes because he’s white. That is way to simplistic. It was this rich, black NFL player thumbing his nose at something more beloved than the NFL. And that is our Republic. There is no forgiveness for treading there...ever. If you doubt it, check out social media related comments from then until now. You’ll see what I mean. The other major issue is the platform he used to protest. None of the rest of us are allowed to bring our causes to work with us. He had so many forums he could have used, but because he chose his day job where most of don’t want to think about work or problems in our Country for 3 hours, he blew it. That’s what I think. Much has happened in the history of the U.S. We all need to pray and work harder to promote peace, brotherhood, understanding and compassion. A big hinderance to peace and unity in America is our politics and the negative, divisive, mean spirited and racist speech we see and hear on social media, talk radio, t.v and talk shows. We can't keep sowing seeds of discord and division and wondering why there is so much division, animosity, resentment, tension and unrest. We need to expend our energies promoting peace and demonstrating love and unity toward all.
When people make a choice to stop using race to manipulate desire and social stance we might but people will use race because most hate being accused of race and will do anything to prove their not certainly in the public eye. It's sad we let skin ruin so much in our life
That's so true. I'm starting to believe it's been designed that way. We do need to stand together as citizens, because unfortunately we live in a world divided by countries, which therefore creates competition and envy. Our competition is waiting for us to fail.
