I wont have nothing bad said about them, they both saved my life one night. After they both set about me for not offering to buy them a drink, they beat the shit out of me and used blades to cut me, after they'd finished they got one of there men to wrap me up in a carpet and dropped me outside the london hospital, when i eventually came out of a coma I was told by the doctor if I never got to hospital when i did I would of died.
    Both gentlemen.

@dylhemsley9458 Yes I agree, I've brought many men to tears with this story, you probably had a few tears in your eyes reading it. They were great guys, hearts of gold, wouldn't hurt a fly and loved their mother, they hated having to dish out violence, but it was only against the people that deserved it, like myself, we needed to be taught a lesson for our own sakes.

I am highly sceptical based on what I knew of the Readings at that time. There were a few people who simply could not be controlled by anyone, even for profits and the Readings were one of them. Anti authority didn’t capture how they felt about “bosses”, it was a deep hatred of bullies, if you want my sixpence.

Always remember my dad mentioning Alberts name as a kid as my dad wasn’t no pushover who could look after his self if push come to shove, so I do believe even today that Albert reading was a force on he’s own who was a gentleman and no bully but if you cross him you will pay in some way, and probably in them days a good hiding or end up in a brown box, luckily enough I had my life with my dad who see 80 years of age and passed away 14 yr ago but he had a story to tell about gangsters , mushes, villains , or what ever you wanted to call them as my father grew up with these cronies and if you don’t take liberties you can be friends with who ever the name maybe, but I do believe Albert was a name face not to fuck with. Shame all the old school are gone now and as a 58 yr old I feel like we are the older generation .

I would be wary of the highly fictional account of ‘Judas Pig’. I knew Uncle El well, as a kid and admired him: hated in injustice and bullying, with a keen intellect. There’s is no way, particularly in his youthful pomp, that he and his brothers could have been done by apparitions the Krays sent. Thats malarkey at its most silly.
I grew up in a block of flats, by the Bow flyover in the early 1970’s and many of the children I went to school with had parents in the business. Let me tell you that as much as that lifestyle is glamorised, if you had to live it, you would hate it. Doing bad things affects you. Means that no matter how many duvets your piled under, your still freezing cold.

Albert Reading always reminded a little bit of Harry Starbuck in that when he ran the Horn of Plenty in Stepney he was a very respectful approachable charismatic guy though extremely nasty if crossed , i always thought his brother Bobby was the better fighter of the two...neither of them are alive ..Bobby Reading died about 10 years ago (perhaps more) and Albert was ill with a neurological disease (Parkinsons?) before he passed RIP

Albert had an altercation in the Ordanance Arms in Canning Town this is where i think people may hay have thought he got his arm broke in-fact he was stabbed in the arm and kicked senseless outside only to save by the Guv.nor Big J.Murphy of the Royal Oak Pub almost opposite where in later yrs Terry Lawless would open his gym above it..😊

Having read Judas Pig and using common sense..it’s a great read but filled with a lot of bollocks. Examples being:
    * Holmes with his crew beat up a off duty coppers rugby team in a London club including stabbing them broken glasses.
    * Killing a whole South London crew in their headquarters.
    * burning alive a black guy in a field after torturing him for 7 days.
    * running over a copper and then throwing acid in his face
Point is, underworld is obviously violent and deadly, but certain crimes are so deadly that would have ended up in almost immediate arrest and made the news

Limehouse Willy run the Stow Club for the Krays in Walthamstow Market NOT the Chequers pub..there was rooms above that pub which was used as a meeting place same as the Cock Tavern...the stall holders were being taxed by Eric Horse aka Eric Horst he would walk up the market from Coppermill Lane..the stall holders had to put a 10 shilling note in the brown leather open case he held he.d walk back down..then go into the Stow Club one saturday he refused to pay his bill and a fight ensued with Willy Eric cut n slashed his face...he was being looked for when he found in the Crooked Billet he was a big man and very game he decked big Tommy the Bear Brown but was overcome by big Albert and the 2 Tony n Chris brothers.plus Reg used a tool and Eric was left seriousely injured it was the end of his reign in Walthamstow and would stick to drinking in the Tatler Cinema and the Bell Pub Hoe St before moving over to Tottenham...😊

@@SE16Proud yes Willy was drinking in the Chequers I meant he mentioned the club this was late 90s there was a big function room upstairs, there a lady called Sue who worked there she said she worked at the club when she was 16.
This Eric guy was tough then, what did the Krays take over his action ? was quite away from their manor.
Do remember someone called Jimmy Newman ?
he was very old then in the late 90s she told me he was tough.
I believe she said that Jimmy Nash used to get in there this was 98-99 I can’t remember if she said the Teale brothers
So that is why Limehouse Willy had the massive mars bar then

The readings and the krays were very different. Ronnie and reggie liked to fight. Both boxers but ronnie was on a different level mentally. Ronnie really was a phycopath on heavy medication for it. They had a large firm around them that made them almost untouchable. Bobby and albert were hard barstards. They loved a good fight but were both more into finishing a fight quick as poss. Albert was never worried to use his hands or a weapon. He was a one man wreaking ball. He always looked for a quick finish which made him very dangerous. Very different familys and ways of doing things. The readings were no match for the krays many numbers but the krays werent a match for them on their own. I just cant see albert letting it go if it did happen. He would have got revenge as he didnt let things like that go. Just my opinion.

Albert Reading strikes me as one of those guys who, at some point in his life, has decided that he's taking a back seat from absolutely nobody! The reputation and everybody you hear speak of him backs that up! So I don't believe this.. but it's good click bait!

Nothing click bait about it peoole sleep on the krays as if they were nothing. They were the main guys in East London. I have many stories direct from people involved about the readings war with Johnny Davies and his mob. Albert's brother had his eye shot out in that one. Got some other mental stories of Albert when he was running a certain pub, crazy story. The Krays wud dish out punishment beatings to many hardmen who didn't toe the line. Albert was a seriously dangerous man who had no fear of anyone.
I’ve seen an interview with him and he didn’t seem like he’d be the type to have suffered an attack at the hands of the krays
To be fair their legend is far greater than they were, those in the know describe them as big fish in a little pond, nothing really special, and as for mad frank was just a guy who’d take a weapon to guy who was tied to a chair and not a hard man at all…. Albert however was a truly chilling man, he’d have no problem to blind you with ammonia and kick your teeth down your throat.
Foreman however was a seriously dangerous man, he was one of the reason the Keats have the legend that they do, yet he never gets a mention in any of the movies, they always play the krays as the guys who did all the dangerous work which apparently wasn’t the case.
Foreman was the guy who would go and talk to ppl and collect monies etc as ppl were really more scared of him than either of the brothers.
Obviously I only know what I’ve heard and wasn’t even born until these guys were already behind bars, so it’s all conjecture, the Albert reading interview is fantastic.
