@@B_bang22 Jokes or similar lighthearted stuff like this scene are hard to translate even at the best of times. At the worst of times they are a nightmare, especially if they are in a context you need to keep and not by themselves. That's my experience at least.
I'm surprised that there are no Guy scenes in this. I think his dub is one of the best in the entire show. For me, it's probably the only one that definitively beats sub. In dub, he's more energetic and goofy, but I think it suits him very well. And it just hits different when he gets serious before opening the Eight Gate against Madara. When he says, "And I assure you that this is no bluff." to Kakashi, I get chills every time. Same thing with Might Duy, since he and Adult Guy are voiced by the same actors. With how similarly goofy Duy is in dub, when he says, "The self-rule..." to Guy before fighting the Seven Ninja Swordsmen, he sounds incredibly badass.
Guy and lee are the only two voices that make me question watching shippuden in Sub. I usually do dub for OG and Sub shippuden but I miss guys voice every time 😭
Guy's English voice is definitely equal to the Japanese version at the very least, if not better. I'd say him and Madara are better in English. That, along with Pain's "DO YOU HATE ME NOW?" are my favorite parts of the English dub. Naruto seems to sound pretty equal across both versions, and Orochimaru is definitely better in Japanese.
I'm a sub > dub kind of guy but I can't hate on the dub in Naruto after giving it a more honest try. The English voice actors are really good, even Madara has grown on me over the years after I used to hate it for some reason. And Sasuke's English VA just nails it
A lot of people are high on Madara's dub voice, I think it's good, but to me, the original is another level. The one that compares very well, in my opinion, is Pain
I feel like Naruto's voice in the sub has matured really well to make him sound like an adult, meanwhile Naruto in the dub still sound like he did when he was a teenager
agreed Naruto's dub voice was very goofy and accurate when he was a teen but grown up Naruto sounding like that , nah I wouldn't take the guy seriously even if he is the Strongest Shinobi
They're both so good! And you really gotta appreciate how the dub actors nailed both the overall tone and personality, as well as the pronunciation of names. Listen to the way Pain's English VA just nails all the Akatsuki members names. Beautiful
Troy Baker is a top tier VA for sure. He's also Joel from The Last of Us and when you hear that character's voice with the Southern accent you wouldn't think of him saying these names like that. lol

There's definitely times where both subbed and dubbed were better. It's so cool to see some of the best lines read next to each other. I know this video came out awhile ago but i love this stuff.
I appreciate that the changed timing on the Sasuke clip to give the English VA a chance to properly express Sasuke's emotion by letting him get a few more in. You can hear the exhaustion, anger, madding turing to insanity, and despair.
0:03 In Japanese it’s very very very common to repeat a word twice to really emphasize what your talking about so him doing it this many times is extremely meaningful for a character like him to say if you speak Japanese…
One scene that I would've loved to see compared is from Shippuden ep 30, when Naruto cries over Gaara's corpse yelling about what the Sand did to him. I feel like the sub and dub voice actors did such a heartfelt performance, and I'd love to see what the general consensus is on that scene. I feel like when it comes to sub vs dub, that emotion is so much more palpable when I don't have that language barrier, and can just immerse myself in the setting fully, so unless it is just overall a standout one being better than the other, I feel like I'm always gonna prefer a dubbed scene.

@@TheRefiper Watching it in your native language maybe your cup of tea, but for many, it isn't the case. I prefer watching content in the language it is actually produced and dubbed in. Let's say, you are a native Japanese and you want to watch a Disney Movie in Japanese, it sounds terrible because the Disney Movies are meant to be watched in English and not Japanese. And similar is the case with Anime produced in Japan and not in America.
I honestly believe that naruto may have some of the best dub voice acting in all of anime across the entire show, sure there are some that could be better but literally every important character has an amazing voice actor behind them
compared to other anime, naruto has one of the best dubbed voice acting casting. the VAs dont always give as good of a performance compared to Sub but there are so many iconic moments from both
At first I disagreed with your comments, but because I misread it, instead of understanding that you are talking about the whole casting for the VA i thought you were talking only about Naruto (the character) which in my opinion isn't the worst of all, but damn he doesn't sound good compared to the SUB, in the DUB Naruto sounds like he be smokin' cigatettes his whole life
Honestly the dub is really good. Like, really good. Madara, Jiraya, Pain, not to mention Orochimaru. Their voices are all so iconic and fit the character really well. Even Deidara's voice is really fitting.
Japanese voices make scenes sound incredibly intense and emotional without sounding cringe. English voices have a way of sounding poetic and charismatic. So cool to get different interpretations. Take the Sasuke scene for example. The Japanese voice sounds so intense off the bat. Then take every scene Madara is in, his Japanese voice sounds so cool using Jutsu. But most of his dialogue is just kind of eh. Where the English Madara every single thing he says sounds so rich and quotable like a philosopher.
I don't know man I think Naruto's Sub is one of the best of anime that I've come across but it still can be really cringy... It's amazing at its best but still better than other anime at its worst.
The more emotional the scene, the better the sub. I get shivers from how much emotion japanese voice actors are able to deliver. But I have to admit that the dub did sound alright in this one.
It's really hard to choose between the two. And I usually prefer the one I watch first, which in this case is the sub. I like Naruto's Japanese voice more. Jiraiya's English voice is perfect.
Sub is great, cuz it gives originality to the characters shown. 👍 But admit this... Both jiraya and madara sound lit 🔥in dub... Specially jiraya's voice ❤ It feels like someone familiar is talking to me. 🥺
Well, yes but actually no. Bcs if only 2 char. sounds good, then its not better :D I watched Naruto with sub, and then with dub, and i think that dub is worse then sub
I really think that I prefer the dub voices overall because as a English speaker, it is easy for me to pick up on the tone and emotion and depth of the voice; and also to the outcome of what is about to go down like with the Madara scene when he said what he said and then conjured his Susanoo. Just epic. Im amazed!
I'm also an English speaker, but I prefer the talent on the Japanese side. Not to mention that dubs haven't improved in any measure since the 80s, whilst Japanese audio and dialogue have evolved with the times. Also, Maile Flanagan as Naruto seemed wrong after I got used to Junko Takeuchi's voice... anything else sounds wrong.
@@theperson8539 they’re both fine. Naruto in sub or dub is fine to me, but my preference still remains. I happen to don’t mind the Japanese voices it’s just very difficult for me to relate to it.

BIG shoutouts to Sasuke's line from Storm 4 like "What's wRonG with you!?" Like Sasuke was legit tired of Naruto. XD
2:02 is the best😂

Both are so good bro!!
I honestly believe that naruto may have some of the best dub voice acting in all of anime across the entire show, sure there are some that could be better but literally every important character has an amazing voice actor behind them
I would say dragon ball has the best dub voicing
no
u have bad taste
noob
the dub for the character naruto not the whole show sounded too American
compared to other anime, naruto has one of the best dubbed voice acting casting. the VAs dont always give as good of a performance compared to Sub but there are so many iconic moments from both
Yup...every voice actor in English sounds great...Sasuke , Gaara , Madara ...one of the best English dubbed animes.
Some good dubs imo are hxh, dbz, and death note
I think naruto sounds fine, he sounds exactly like his sub counterpart just sans accent *IMO*
At first I disagreed with your comments, but because I misread it, instead of understanding that you are talking about the whole casting for the VA i thought you were talking only about Naruto (the character) which in my opinion isn't the worst of all, but damn he doesn't sound good compared to the SUB, in the DUB Naruto sounds like he be smokin' cigatettes his whole life
Nandamo is iconic and Over and over was kinda heartfelt
3:26
Troy Baker gives Pain that commanding voice that just fits perfectly
Honestly the dub is really good. Like, really good. Madara, Jiraya, Pain, not to mention Orochimaru. Their voices are all so iconic and fit the character really well. Even Deidara's voice is really fitting.
Agreed 100%
Keith David is a top 10 Black Actor Period!
2:22 MAN HIS SHARINGAN SWITCHED FROM SHIN MS TO NORMAL SHARINGAN
Personally I'm not into dub version.. but the dubbed one with madara is just freaking insane.!!
Dub Madara is just a thousand times more intimidating.
0:54 THE BEST!!! EVERRRR
It's amazing at its best but still better than other anime at its worst.
we're blessed to have English voice for Madara so good , he sounds like his age with his wordings and use of phrases
It's probably just depends on your first language. I think both were cast perfectly
@@monkeydgoofy8074The Original dub is Japanese!
And is 3 times better in the 90% of the moments.
Anyone with some sense of Art, will notice this.

I’ve had “Nandomo nandomo” stuck in my head for years without knowing why. This video reminded me of where it came from damn
"Just leave it to Tobi, okey dokey" 🤣🤣🤣
The more emotional the scene, the better the sub. I get shivers from how much emotion japanese voice actors are able to deliver. But I have to admit that the dub did sound alright in this one.
You are absolutely correct. Yelling or crying or whatever the sub hits different. And yes the dub is good but it's not on that level

well they’re both very similar, so that’s why.

It's really hard to choose between the two. And I usually prefer the one I watch first, which in this case is the sub. I like Naruto's Japanese voice more. Jiraiya's English voice is perfect.
That's why i like the japanese dub better. There so much emotion on the voice actor. The english version just look like he's reading a script.
Sub is great, cuz it gives originality to the characters shown. 👍
But admit this...
Both jiraya and madara sound lit 🔥in dub...
Specially jiraya's voice ❤
It feels like someone familiar is talking to me. 🥺
yeah 😢
Jirayas voice in dub sounds like a narrator to me. Of course it sounds familiar if you watched the dub

@@Drakdodare Yessir.
