Adam Barr’s narration really brings this story to life!! Really enjoy his voice and the way he differentiates each character.
Crazy how realistic this series is and even more crazy that in time something like this will happen to America. Just an example of how people should be prepared for situations like this
Actually, the scenario is a little too far fetched. If China unleashed such a virus on the USA, what do you think the boomers (nuclear submarines in the Pacific) would do.. or the men in the missiles silos... basically, as "we" died, we would turn China into a glowing nuclear waist land.... a few Chinese would male it to America, and then the "off grid" survivalist and preppers would unite, and fight to the death..... no, this isn't super realistic...

I'm really enjoying this story and the narration. I've always enjoyed stories of apocalypse hahaha.
I keep catching myself rooting for these kids. I am definitely emotionally invested. I wonder if anyone in China, any kid ...any adult.... ANYONE, has been able to read this.?? I mean surely all of their reading materials via the Internet and school and periodicals such and such are monitored by the government but that's a LOTTA folks to monitor....

These would make great movies! Brilliant! I have been hooked and this is my second time through. Isaac and indigo! Such an amazing story. Love it. Not to leave out all the other brilliance of storytelling and a very well written saga. Look forward to following all your work. I will be sharing. This is awesome.

Loving this series! Somewhat like a mix of Red Dawn and a book I read in middle school that I can't remember the name of.. its about Russia having taken over America, follows a kid who escapes a prison camp and goes on the offense against the Russians.

It’s a very good book, however, there are so many commercials that it’s hard to get lost in the book. It seems like every time you start to let go a commercial pops up.
That's why I got TH-cam premium. No commercials. That's how things are paid for. Got tired of hearing commercials during meditation tapes.

I can't stop listening. I normally watch the only thing I watch on TV, The Handmaid's Tale at midnight the day it comes on, and I forgot there was one until this evening.
My only complaint is that the voice actor changes his voice track to track in a way that despite expecting Isaac and being told its Isaac it's like old man Isaac. Plus why does Brooke sound more like a man than Ben? Regardless, I love how Luke is Jeff Spicoli and it's a excellent story! 💙

why didn't they inspect the destroyed patrol for functional weapons and ammo. You can figure the dead officer had a modern pistol ..time to ditch the 38 revolves and at this point they should have at least three fully functional type 95 rifes and one qsz-92 pistol
I’m enjoying this audiobook very much but. But certain things are driving me crazy like not prioritizing getting weapons and tactical gear at least scavenging for semi-auto handguns and shotguns. The group is Woefully undergunned. For a generation brought up on Call of Duty in which gamers are constantly picking up weapons in various places this should have been ingrained. And the notion it’s okay to kill folks with a crossbow but not a gun. I’m just at Sonny’s love interest doing away with five soldiers and the humvee. I would be immediately picking up their weapons, etc. They seem to ignore common sense in survival situations I hope they start evolving.

So Luke has some ideological views of swearing off guns as those around him are shot at and enemies are carrying guns. Only a person of privilege can think that’s a good idea. He values his own ideological views than the lives of his fellow group. In what world does that work in a war.
Fascinating point, that said what if someone is actually better with a bow? Like real war "hero" Jack Churchill and his sword or even Roy Benavidez using practically anything he could find? 🤔🙂
IDK, ask John Malcolm Thorpe Fleming Churchill. He fought WW2 with a bow and arrow, a broadsword, and a bagpipe.
May I add, bow 1 shot.... Load! Gun multiple shots....load! Better chance you and yours will live!
Quiet kills draw less attention. You're also less likely to run out of ammunition in the long run.

@scottmedbury. The series s great, the narration is great, YET, please put adverts at chapter break. To have conversations interrupted mid sentence is infuriating. Please let your prose flow unimpeded without reducing the passive income stream.

This character Issac just brings death to new people he meets smh. I’m going to need Sonny to get back leadership at this rate it’ll just be Issac, Indigo and Luke alive and they are hardly that interesting by themselves.
I was scrolling specifically to find someone as pissed at issaic as I am. This whole mess is his fault, and he either doesn't recognize that or care that much. I'm having a hard time continuing to like him. Why the hell did he and Luke go with them to get the truck in the middle of the tigers turf?? Isaiah isn't even a good shot so basically they just brought along a moving target. It didn't even occur to them to at least try and disguise themselves or hide their heads with hoodies at least? Luke even wore the same stupid jacket, getting them immediately recognized. There are a lot of dumb things. Issaic thought he'd warm up the truck before they escaped...dumb. sitting around flirting with a huge truck in plain site while they could have been loading up the truck..all.dumb. Their "evasion tactics" while being followed were childish, at best. Teenagers aren't actually this stupid, and girls aren't actually this useless
I really like this story but if the intention of the writer wasn't to make these people doofuses, many mistakes were made.
Most teens i know are way worse, my sister and her freinds would have starved by now

Lookee lookee... a bunch of people who'd last maybe a week in an apocalypse. It's easy to take shots from safety. Not everyone likes Mary Sue (or the male equivalent) characters. Flaws are a welcome change from the invincible, infallible "heroes" that everyone is vomiting out recently.

The dialogue is KILLING me -- every character thinks, speaks and behaves like a middle aged man.
Also, how old is Sonny supposed to be? 15, 16? And his Deus Ex Machina ex-girlfriend is a MAJOR in Chinese special ops?
Dude... c'mon. You've got these framework for a truly decent series here, but giving a character an accent isn't the same thing as giving them a Voice

This garbage is one of the top 3 worst SHTF or EOTW apocalypse novels/series i have ever had to suffer through. The writing is amateurish at best and paints a portrait of a wanna be author that has no concept of survival and the longterm effects of sustained civil unrest. Let alone total societal collapse. He does not understand how armed combat, small unit tactics, military operations in urban environments, combat veterans vs untrained civilian combatants, & foreign troops killing your kin and occupying your homeland/nation all combined to create stagnate slaughterhouse wars like Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. I spent 5 yrs fighting and contracting in Iraq as a Marine and contractor after my enlistment was up. This whole scenario is simplistic and so far from actuality, it should have never been published. His main character is the weakest, most sensitive and most cowardly individual i have ever read about in this genre. It is pure garbage. I found better writings on the walls of public restrooms.
You are just like my husband who is a Vietnam vet. When we watch a war picture he is analyzing it. No troops would be that close together, no one carries their weapon like that etc. I just look at him because I am just enjoying the movie. I am thoroughly enjoying this book series because I have no preconceived ideas of what is bullshit or not.😉
@colette coates ha ha ha, seriously, you made me laugh. Its the first grin of the day. Im happy you enjoy it. Its just hard living 13 yrs as a Marine and hunting terrorist in third world countries and knowing that what America would regress to if or when we lose our handle on technology and our infrastructure. When people write these books they write for the majority whom have no idea of what would really happen in such dire situations and how they portray their special forces turned freedom fighter or zombie slayer or well, you get the idea. How the authors portray them as more action than thinker and in reality its the opposite. We think long and hard before we act. I feel it as an insult when they portray us as less than we are or more bloodthirsty than we actually are. Or how their characters refuse to act in dangerous situations because the character is afraid he might cause someones death or injury. But in reality, lets say im in a gas station and a robber comes in and pulls a gun. The clerk refuses to give him the $$. In desperation the crook takes a mother hostage and puts a pistol to her head. Suddenly im in a situation where im armed but do i have a right to stop this from escalating? The only required for evil to win is for good men (or women) to do nothing. I know i can draw my sidearm from 25ft or closer and easily put a single round through the hostage takers head right through his nose so the round separates the spinal cord and brain stem. That way the body can not make any twitching or the nerves causing his weapon to fire and harming his hostage or anyone caught up around the situation. To not resolve the situation would go against what took an oath to do and protect. And if that crook ended up killing one or more people and knowing i could have ended it, feels like we had a part in the killing of an innocent even though logic says we did not. It frustrates me to read stories where the good guy refuses to act because he afraid he might cause others to get hurt. Inaction hurts worse than action every time.
Great writing....very cool story. But, unlike most of the commenters on here apparently, I’m annoyed as hell by the narrator. He could do very well I believe if he would just quit with the wispy, wimpy little voice he has for the main character. Trying a little too hard maybe idk. Or maybe he just chose the wrong douchey voice to use as the main narrator of the story. Luke’s voice would’ve done well.....for ME at least.

Great story and well narrated, and while I appreciate the need to monetise the channel the timing of the adds is irritating to the point of being a distraction. One biggy at the beginning or at the chapter ends would be less intrusive.
