They changed their gender when they transformed or cross-dressed.

@@marcoantonioalvaradosalvad6429 Yeah it’s cross dressing. Since in most magical girl anime things, most of them are more feminine, it’s like it does that to them, unintentionally. They are still guys, just the transforming changes them to look a bit different. It also helps to conceal their identities better.
