- Cody Canada & The Departed's first public performance as a band was this rendition of "The Ballad of Rosalie" on The Texas Music Scene. This tune will be one of 16 on their upcoming tribute to Oklahoma songwriters called THIS IS INDIAN LAND.
Spread the word! These guys need everyone to come out to their live shows. That's where they really shine!!
This Band is Awesome!! I Love going to see them Live!
Many years ago when I was just a little pint size punk I met Seth James
playing at a small venue at New Braunfels Tx. I couldn't have been more
than 7 or 8. He is literally the inspiration of why I picked up guitar
and peruse music because of that spark he lit in this old soul.
I’ve been lookin for yall for more than 12 years! Heard this song on the radio and I found the song 🥹 fk yeah!
First time I ever saw them I journeyed from GA to TX and saw them at Gruene. They will be here in Ga in 3 weeks. Can't wait!
Many years ago when Ragweed split up.
At Rhymes and Vines that fall.
Seth and Cody played a set with just them on electric guitars.
I knew at that point what ever band they formed was going to be Bad Azz.
Cody Canada and The Departed do not disappoint.
If they are playing nearby, GO!
great place to see this band! Well done Danette.
I can see what you mean. These guys are just so good!!
Great video. Nice job, Cody...and the boys.
WE are also trying to get the TV show in the UK. So many fans of this music over there!
Just seen them tonight put on one hell of a show
Awesome band....awesome song
Love it.
awesome song and sound
Have you heard his stuff while with CCR? Amazing!!
No sorry I havent , but will check it out ,thanks
mp!
His new music is actually a huge disappointment compared to Cross Canadian Ragweed. This is one of the good songs most of the others I have listened to can't even compare to CCR. I wish CCR was still around. Still to this day my favorite Texas Music band.
We agree!
I'm a believer now.
keep on rockin!
@MusicByJesse Yep. Cody mentioned it in an interview in Fort Worth, then I listened to the lyrics, and it sure is.
If you havent heard the new CD ADVENTUS you really need to pick it up. It is amazing!!
Joseph, Nitco is correct. He is singing. If you dont here it's probably just your computer speakers. It is not overpowering as he is trying to blend as much as possible.
The bass player is definitely NOT lip synching. He is singing a harmony part
I got my autographed copy of ADVENTUS @ Gruene Hall ;) It's a Cold Hard Fact!
Randy Pease is my English professor at University of Southern Indiana
Awesome job of an awesome song! Check out other Randy Pease songs on his ReverbNation site.
Anyone else have a guy talking about big beans instead of call from skinner on their cd?
saw you guys in wichita, ks last april...F*#k yea Cody Canada and the Departed!!!! long live red dirt
I definitely think they should redo a cover of Copperhead Road like think song, he sounds like a modern Steve Earle
Of Course he still plays some lead guitar ! Together Slick and Hoss Jam so good together! check OUT staring DOWN THE SUN OR Hols on Christian or TULSA!
I’m not a hater. But I like it better when Cody is playing lead
@mountaindwarf123 i am pretty sure cody is singing lead in this
These boys kick some red dirt ass :)
@MusicByJesse That's more than just a theory. =]
THIS is why Red Dirt Rules!!!!
Necklace there, No necklace on Cody? What the he heck ?
+wooleyk1 multiple takes. something must've gone wrong in one, or one was better than the other in some way and not other. LoL :) that also means they are playing live on this, which is nice :))
Love Cody but CCR was a great band,.... just like JET and both bands just up and quit. I seem to be a curse for good bands.,.. I did get to see CCR "in the day" (and JET at House of Blues Chicago - hot show!!!) but sadly both bands disbanded..... I guess all we have now is The Departed... hopefully they will provide at least a sliver of the talent and quality music we all enjoyed with CCR.

I hope Cody takes the lead sometimes
Looks like hes borrowing Willy brauns acoustic guitar amp
I heard an interesting theory last night: This song is about a guitar!
@Iwanttoeatbabies Who's this Randy character?
He's not. He's pulling away from the mic to not overpower the song with backing harmonies. Old school recording trick.
Reminds me of Better Than Ezra's --Rosealia
@thealmtyb Should have specified, lead guitar. My b
You ever need another guitar player I’m your guy
Why is the bassist lipsynching that is stupid there is not even any background vocals!\
Grady would have played that better, and Randy would have been better on the drums, other than that...bring Ragweed back
