What an excellent project!!! By the way, another benefit that wasn't mentioned here is that they can reduce the urban heat island effect, and further cool down surroundings through evapotranspiration.
Wow. I'm from that area over by the Bronx River and the Hutch. I've always just admired how pretty these areas often are. It's nice to know that they serve another much needed purpose.
Ever wonder about #GreenInfrastructure in #NYC? This video gives an overview of the NYC DEP's Green Infrastructure Program. In addition to a brief explanation of some of the environmental challenges faced by NYC, the video features technologies such as #bioswales, green and blue roofs, rain gardens, and permeable pavers. There are also key interviews with experts on the Green Infrastructure Task force, including an engineer, a project manager and DEP's Commissioner. This video was made by the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP)
it's now 2017 did they work and did people leave them alone or treat them like places to dump rubbish? they are a fantastic idea if people understand the idea and let them do their job?
Yes great but what about Maintenance? I have one in front of my house and I have to clean it myself. That’s just a dump for some dummies and I’m sick of cleaning it.
Better lighting is needed to prevent crime and led lights need double head lights on street poles led bright lighting at night to weaken crime and feel safer at night .
Speed bumps not speed cams I seen speed bumps work 100% speed cans waste of tax pays money. At least on long block in the middle slow down a vehicle power, it works well .
