One of my favorite things about Tim's playing is that he will do TABs for us. It is incredibly kind, uncommon and really inspires you to try to learn these songs that sound impossible, and yet makes them feel accessible. Absolutely love anything that makes learning stuff and progressing less painful.
@@littlegreenpills6773 You have to differentiate between "a job" and a "side-gig" made out of thin air. Is it his job to provide us with tabs? Then i would say you are correct. But now? You need to rephrase yourself :D
There’s a video of Tim teaching how to play goat that he plays some stuff differently live to make things easier. It makes sense that the tabs seem harder than what he’s playing in the pov video
Nice to see that also someone like you is „human“ 😀 and has to learn stuff and struggles with the same things. But you learn it so quickly, awesome. Thank you!
The way Tim plays the ABC intro riff in his official YT video is quite different to their official tabs. I learned this the hard way, had to learn the riff twice lol.
This was awesome to see your process of working through a piece. It was also nice to see that it is not much different than everyone else's even though you are light years ahead of some of us.
Awesome really good to get it down in your time frame that you got it in. When I practice I always think that a song is more difficult to play I always think their is alot of trickery in the song. Once I play it, and once I get the tabs down as long as I'm slow it never seems correct playing the tabs. I always think the tabs are wrong, or their not giving a honest correct tabs to make it were I just want to quit sometimes. Amazing enough as I get faster, and I start hearing it sound correct and then I go back and play that riff again or note sequence that ended up sounding perfect I go back and try to figure out why that time it sounded correct trying to analyze why that time it sounded right and right on. Sometimes it because of cadence timing and sometimes it's because of technique on a specific note more of a hammer or pull off or vibrato or what ever. For sure the more practice you do on a piece your ear hears when it falls together. When I began never had a ear but now since I have a few years in I do have a better ear for music sure helps the more practice the better my hearing on being correct and discerning! I watch you play a lot and you are inspiring ! Takes me twice as long to learn pieces as you do. You got it going on.
Absolutely INCREDIBLE 🎸👏👏👏👏👏Total RESPECT RESPECT Yous are simply the best👌👌🤘🤘😎 Always it super super helpful to watch the artist play the song . Learn so so much Glad you managed to get the better of the horrible OCD and Anxiety Wishing you all my best
Here in Canada there was a band called Triumph. The guitar player Rik Emmett did an awesome guitar solo on a thin body classical guitar that blew me away. I never had the guts to do it live l have never played a gig with a classical guitar.
He moved the second F shape up an octave from the tabs!!! I could never ever hit the harmonics into F into doo do do doo at the 17th/19th frets, and now I see this and I guess he couldn’t hit it consistently enough either😂
Like your new place! Anxiety sucks - thank you for talking about it. Guitar is both a blessing and a curse when you have anxiety. I used to play acoustic gigs with a friend at bars and events but the last gig I had was a private party and since he was late I was crazy uncomfortable and ended up leaving. Keep it up - I enjoy your journey.
Your one of the most beautiful people in the world. I am here in Tennessee. Need more women like you. You make a bad day better. think your one of my favorite TH-camrs now.
7:09 This is exactly why I never use tabs. I just learn by ear; listen, practice, listen again, wash and repeat over and over and over until I get as close as possible
Actually the only videos I ever watch are the "Sophie Learns Polyphia" Videos, so I'd also like something like: Sophie Learns [Intervals, Chon, Periphery, Ichika, Yvette Young / Covet] However I also really enjoy watch people write music and their unique approaches, bc I feel like that's where I can take away the most for my current skill level, so I'd be super down for a video titled *Sophie writes her own Math Rock Song*
Love Polyphia 🤘🎸 Play some Dream Theater, Liquid Tension Experiment, or any John Petrucci Solo stuff next. 🙏 Please, I would love to see your process of learning one of his riffs or solos and apply your route between tabs and watching videos on my own learning process. As always very entertaining and informative, helpfull content, keep Rocking ✌️
Good on you for trying to learn this song...and on Tim's signature acoustic! Sadly, hybrid picking is my guitar kryptonite so all I can do is sit on the sidelines and cheer you on with your efforts to learn this incredibly difficult song.
This was mind blowing to me. I’ve recently been super interested in Tim’s songs, but they’re so damn hard to play! In the time it took you to play it full speed, I still was working on the first bar! It’s super humbling, to see, but I plan on saving for Tim’s guitar so I can actually reach the frets above 12 😅
Thank you for sharing part of your story. It was also great to watch how you learn a piece! Considering the acoustic nature of this video, is it inappropriate for me to renew my request for the Randy Rhodes live version of Paranoid?
What are your thoughts on the Warning? 3 young girls from Mexico rocking the socks off the world at the moment. I love these girls. It's not technically insane like Polyphia lol But it's great arena filling rock. Check em out! I just covered the latest single.
If anyone can learn this you surely can I am truly proud of you for getting through your OCD I have it but very mild I can’t stand to see anything that’s not straight or not in the right place even the soap at the kitchen sink or towels in the bathroom I wked on 9 million dollar yachts that has something to do with it I was always pressured of having everything perfectly in place I Fished for a living professionally for 35 years my hand hurt all the time so I didn’t spend enough time on the guitar I was pretty good but no where near you love ya my beauty Queen
I almost always would learn the music unplugged by ear then flip my headphones down when I plug in the electric and listen for string differences. Tabs was almost always disastrous because fingerings vary. Plus some weird sections may be in a different tuning that are not always blatantly obvious. Using just the music and you ears is often the fastest way thru.
Aye, you did a great job! Chimera is definitely not an easy song, it plays almost like The Worst's evil little cousin, but it sounds so nice! Do you have any intention on learning OD? I'm so close to finishing that one and I'd love to hear your take on it
Hey Sophie, I saw your video for Playing God and now Chimera. Bought the TOD10N lately too and hope, that this Nylon-Monster get's me back into creativity. Your videos are definitely helping. First Song that I've learned was Hell on Nylon by Unprocessed. Did you correct the action on your TOD?
its not as loud as a traditional nylon and the neck is overall not as wide as a classical nylon its an inbetween of electric and nylon so the string spacing feels pretty natural even if you never touched a classical nylon before it also sounds and plays phenomenal and looks beautiful aswell. if you have any interest in buying an electric nylon guitar the tod10n is probably the best choice
Loved watching your thought processes. Okay but fr, frm the time you posted this to the shorts you posted of chimera it was 2 months. How many million times did you have to practice it with the metronome to nail it like that? Send help haha

In addition, you can compare the OD riff, the old video and new one, he definitely change some things.

Greatly appreciated your mental health advocacy.
its just sad she did this in the context of promoting a scam company that takes advantage of mentally ill people in order to profit.
