It's just the DEX windows app, not the actual DEX on your phone where you can connect it to a screen/keyboard/mouse etc. Only the windows store app that no one uses, because of flow.
I find that Samsung is abandoning its identity day after day😢. It has removed the curved screen and now the sharp corners. This is not limited to the hardware, but has extended to the device’s software, as the edge panel and the DeX feature are one of Samsung’s identities.

To me it seemed that Dex wasn't going anywhere, just the pc dex app. You can still use it on a TV or other screen, actually I bet you could use a pc screen if you hook up through an hdmi port

It gives me quick access to multitasking by just dragging any apps I want to use ( double split screen flottimg Windows etc...) with a simple gesture, without having to minimize the app I m in. Its very useful and Samsung should reconsider their thoughts.
Edge panels are very important for me. Just recently Samsung removed the panel to select parts of the screen (incl. GIF generation) without any notice. It's simply gone. So bad news, I fear they ll remove the panel completely in the next year

Certain edge panels were included with my phone, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. Those downloaded from the Galaxy Store are primarily third-party applications. Google and Samsung are actively working to enhance the security of the Android operating system.
Listen again. If you have them already, they will be in your galaxy store in my apps, meaning you'll be able to use them, you won't be able to get anymore though
I use the edge panels everyday, not sure why they would get rid of them. The basic edge lighting does need a fix, had to resort to edge plus when it quit working.

I am a big fan of the edge panel feature and use it daily. I hope they continue to offer this feature in the next update, as its absence would be disappointing.
I see many thinking Dex is going away, but it's just the Dex PC app , I bet you can still use Dex through an hdmi connection even on a PC. I'm going off his description in the video , as I haven't looked it up myself. Also there are 3rd party edge apps,i assume they wouldn't be as fast/fluid as official Samsungs edge panels, but there are way more types made by 3rd parties. I hope that helps some.

Its a poor decision for removing Dex for PCs/Laptops. I used it frequently. Also if somebody buys new phone which has One UI 7 (eg S25 series) will they be able to use Edge panels if they login from same Samsung account?
One Hand Operation+ made edge panels redundant. It's good that edge panels are there but I admit I don't use them as much as I could. One Hand Operation+'s widget panels also delivers edge panels' functionality with better customization options, thus better reachability. The only time I use edge panels is when I want to invoke saved split screen setups that I have but one could save them on the Home Screen too, I guess
I haven't used the Edge Panel since the S7, but I feel sorry for the people who do still use it. Maybe they will update it. One Hand Operation + from Good Lock has replaced it for me.

If not for "smart select", which is only found on the edge panel (correct me if I am wrong), and the smart select future is only on the flagship series, not on the midrange series and below. I have never had a reason to turn on the edge panel on my phone, but, I was looking forward to using the "smart select" via edge panel on the S 25 ultra since I am planning to upgrade; I hope it stays on, though.
Removing what made the Galaxy unique and functional is su h a bad idea. I use edge panels every day because they are convenient and keeps my phones home screen uncluttered. Taking this and DEX makes the Galaxy more generic. Maybe the S24 Ultra is my last Samsung? I pay a premium for these abilities.
One thing I don't understand is why don't companies like samsung keep all the old features and add more and more on top. There is a reason my s23 ultra is still on 5.1.1 and my tab s8 is on 6.1.1 and I'll probably buy the s25 ultra next year separately for corning glass , one ui 7 , lighter weight at 219 grams and round edges more comfortable to hold
I hope this comes with battery and camera improvements for the s24 series. That's much needed. Also, people! they are not going to remove the edge panels. You just can't download new ones. The old ones will be there. Just listen already!
Hi Salian, I think the video title and the way Samsung's misleading statement was presented has created confusion. Actually, there is no bad news there. Maybe you can create another video and state a few things in a clearer way. Edge panels are not removed. Just 3rd party panels won't be there anymore, and most of them have been crap anyways. This has been the sase on Z Fold series and no problem at all. I know that you said it, too, but maybe not clearly enough. I don't know why many people misunderstood this. And Samsung DeX can still run on your PC through Windows' own "wireless display" with less restrictions than the "Dex for Windows App" which always needs the deactivation of multi-control and windows Phone link (link to Windows). The "wireless display" feature together with multi-control allows also copy&paste as well as drag&drop. It is just a bit slower than the App. Not sure why Samsung has ditched it completely, but as i said, nothing is lost, just consolidated.

I agree with dex matter but having an app on PC and cable connection is much better in higher resolution.. few people do use it.. removing a basic app is not really needed I felt. So for me and for some it’s bad news.

Hmm kinda disappointing to see Samsung removing features that are clearly used by a lot of people. eg. Edge & Dex. I use Edge constantly and some people are gonna be real mad about losing Dex. I know Samsung are having some financial difficulties recently but I can't imagine this is a way to improve that.
Removing dex is the best thing I've ever heard. Samsung always wants to allow Chromebook users to connect to larger screens/tvs. My new s24 ultra is hacked and my neighbors use dex all the damn time. Only at 6:04. Next they need to remove connect to windows app.
for the nav bar like home , back. so you have the option to completely remove that long line at bottom and completely remove all nav bar home, back icons from bottom? I like my screen real estate don't like any bottoms on screen asking because my wife has 6.1 and she has no choice now to use nav icons or that long line nav at bottom.
I hope that they will include the frosted glass effect into more menu elements in the future to make the whole software look different, i am really excited for the new update❤

Losing the Edge panels and DEX is going backwards IMO! I use both of these features daily, especially DEX for PC via USB cable at work as are work PC's do NOT have WiFi witch makes "Link to Windows" useless using my phones data connection.
Why is nobody talking about round elements on square screens not looking so good. I mean, it's clear that One UI 7 is S25 series "feature"/selling point but what will happen with S23/24U interface ? Samsung is trying to copy Apple with basically everything but fails at the most important thing - proper support for "old" devices
You already cant download any edge panel on 6.1.1 tried to do so on the fold and was upset about it, they ruining it by dexing dex its way better than link to windows by so many miles.

I use the Edge Panels on a daily basis. Especially for SmartSelect & paired apps for split screen
it could be more useful if we could use it as sort of a active copy paste bar that is more interactive like the one on oneplus

the problem with link to windows is it only works with windows pro versions... dex was really useful...

Removing dex is the best thing I've ever heard. Samsung always wants to allow Chromebook users to connect to larger screens/tvs.
My new s24 ultra is hacked and my neighbors use dex all the damn time. Only at 6:04. Next they need to remove connect to windows app.
Use edge panels for quick tools and quick access to apps I need to find quickly

for the nav bar like home , back. so you have the option to completely remove that long line at bottom and completely remove all nav bar home, back icons from bottom? I like my screen real estate don't like any bottoms on screen asking because my wife has 6.1 and she has no choice now to use nav icons or that long line nav at bottom.
I tried edge panel but to be it felt slightly useless because most of the functions were already a swipe or tap away
Left Samsung when i had the moisture detect problem on multiple devices. Switch to Pixel phones and tablet.
I use the edge panel as a quick launcher for certain apps
What about battery icon...thats my while concern
One of the reasons I continue to use Samsung is edge panels

I was thinking the same I might just stay wit the Note 20 ultra n the S24 Ultra n not upgrade. I don't care for the animations
I hope that they will include the frosted glass effect into more menu elements in the future to make the whole software look different, i am really excited for the new update❤

I am missing many things that samsung removed! Sd card, AOD not bright enough and no colered icons. Led light when receiving notifications and now this? 😢

Using Samsung since Samsung Wave 1. Inever used and never will use edge panels. Dex for windows? What's the point? You can just use Windows!

Samsung is abandoning great solutions by creating copies of the iPhone, but why?? Samsung's policy of withdrawing from DeX and other features that set them apart from the competition makes me think about whether to upgrade my S24 Ultra to the S25 Ultra or switch to another brand!

It's all good news, never use edge panel neither use dex on of fully working computer.. it didn't make sense for me in the first place

Losing the Edge panels and DEX is going backwards IMO! I use both of these features daily, especially DEX for PC via USB cable at work as are work PC's do NOT have WiFi witch makes "Link to Windows" useless using my phones data connection.
Why is nobody talking about round elements on square screens not looking so good. I mean, it's clear that One UI 7 is S25 series "feature"/selling point but what will happen with S23/24U interface ? Samsung is trying to copy Apple with basically everything but fails at the most important thing - proper support for "old" devices

You already cant download any edge panel on 6.1.1 tried to do so on the fold and was upset about it, they ruining it by dexing dex its way better than link to windows by so many miles.
