Good review- am seriously considering a Freewheeler since my second right knee total replacement a few months ago. Love my '21 FLHR but it's been mostly collecting dust since the knee issues flared up. If it will keep my knees in the breeze .... Good on you for speaking up for family run dealerships- I don't know about Canada but in the U.S. they seem like they belong on an endangered species list.
Dont even need to use reverse unless your parked someplace you need it. Otherwise its surprising lighter than you think. Can push it with your legs. Ive got one. My grandpa gave me his before he passed away. Its a 16. Never been on a 2 wheel before. So its all i got. Thought about trading it for a street bob. I just cant bring myself to do it though. Sentimental value kinda thing. Me & my dad ride all over the state of TX. Says it reminds him of riding with grandpa. So ill ride it with him. He has a Street Glide. They arent that bad at all. You dont have to have some physical ailment to ride them. Riding wasnt my thing until i started riding. Id recommend them to everybody. Even if you can still ride a 2 wheel
I rode one in Daytona...I found them to have a choppy ride and tough to turn on tight city street turns...you have to steer it through turns rather than leaning through turns as on a regular motorcycle. I was thinking that an older person might have difficultly steering it as the steering seemed heavy at lower speeds.
We got our 23 vivid black Freewheeler last year, just before the RG3’s came out. It took a bit to get used to but that didn’t take long. As with any Harley there’s options and upgrades galore as usual. The only problem I saw was when spending that much, you don’t get LED’s. You can obviously get them from HD, where I got a couple but got most others from Custom Dynamics where LED’s are not only cheaper but come with a lifetime warranty. Not being able to two wheel it anymore because of knees and back problems the trike was the best thing for us. We can do day trips or weekenders which is nice. If you want to do longer trips then the Tri Glide can handle a lot more. Some people think they’re hard to steer but actually it’s easier than you think. You just can’t take the twisties as fast as on two wheels but you almost can just by learning how to set yourself up for the turns. They’re definitely better to ride when the rains come that’s for sure, specially when you get a windshield.
I was going to ask you how the lean angle is, but you covered that. Definitely would take me some getting used to. I'm 70, so something like this is on my radar. Great information you gave us here!! Thanks!! (Why can't they put a reverse on those heavy two wheelers) :P
I think Harley does a good job with the trikes. Never thought about the drifting but that makes sense. These are expensive for sure, but if my knees end up giving out and I can no longer hold a bike up, I definitely would consider one.
The exhaust sound is very muted. Much like all stock Harley models.

I’ve always thought they’re kinda cool, but I’d want that stripped down one, not the fancy version.
Yeah, I think the Freewheeler is the way to go.
Great for riders with mobility issues that still want to experience wind therapy.
