I agree with, Mr Jeff (refer above). I'm trusting that KOC will exhort the team NOT to ignore the fact that the Bears -- their record notwithstanding -- can beat the Vikes if the breaks & the officiating go the Bears' way.
Jesus can we stop with this one score game narrative. 80% of all games played this season have been decided by eight or fewer points. Detroit has just as many one score victories as Minnesota this year.
The Vikes preferred starting offence is finally in place with Addison and Jones fully healthy now, Hockenson almost off his pitch count, LT Cam Robinson has had 5 or 6 games with the team now, and the playbook has now become instinctive for Darnold. The Vikes have also integrated some legit speed into the defensive rotation - LB Jamin Davis (4.4s), DT Jalen Redmond, Fabian Moreau (4.35). I could see the Vikes win this quite comfortably, but as a Vikes fan, I want the Bears to play spoiler vs the Lions next week at Soldier Field, like they did last season. I don't know whether a Vikes beat down would hurt or help with that.
Chicago didn't really execute a comeback - the Vikes were exceptionally sloppy in closing out the game. The Vikes had executed the exact same situation vs the 49ers and Packers where neither team were ever within one score and had the ball and a chance to win, despite what the scoreboard said. It was like the Rams v Bills. From the moment the Bills took that time out on the goal line - the game was effectively over. The Vikes conceded the last TD just a few seconds too quickly, did not defend the 2 point try, and messed up the on side kick. Just very sloppy. That game should never have reached OT. It was not close, and it wasn't close in OT.
They take the Vikings to OT but didn’t execute a comeback. Do you know how stupid you sound? How you close a game is part of the game and Minnesota wasn’t able to protect that lead. Full stop. Caleb lit them up in the second half whether you want to acknowledge it or not.
@Teengenerate77 vikes got sloppy at the end which gave them life. Let's me real. No way they hang the whole game. Also week 18, Vikings will be full strength, so you can pop all that if you think these Lions are locked in a SB ... heart gonna be broke...lol..lol.. don't forget to come back to this post 🤣🤣🤣
Exactly. There is a difference between losing a close game and letting the game get close in garbage time. The Packers and 49ers game we let get close but never really gave them a chance to win and the Bears game took multiple low percentage plays to tie so it really should have been that way.
The breakdown of Caleb's stats for the 49ers game lacks some context. That game was a historic disaster for Chicago in the first half. They had 4 yards TOTAL in the first half of the game and quickly found themselves down 4 scores. The second half was effectively all garbage time football for the Bears because the 49ers simply didn't have to sweat anything defensively. All of his stats came in the second half after they had already lost the game.
Just a reminder on that Rams game, that was the one where the refs missed a blatant facemask on Darnold which turned into a safety. I think the Vikings could have made a drive and scored if they didn't get screwed. At the very least, it would have been a much closer game.
That and lost CD for the last half the game (after a dumb decision to play and not take it to the half). The Rams found some pass rush and short week against Nacua and Kupp fresh was just a bad recipe. The fact we were within striking distance says more than people will give us credit for
We win the rams game if the ref doesn’t miss that no call on face ask , you’ve seen Darnold run so many 4th qtr clutch drives bring his team right down the feild and score you can’t tell me there wasn’t a good chance he does it there as well
I absolutely hate the Monday night doubleheader. I especially hate the fact that they call it a “doubleheader”. Let’s be clear: this is NOT a doubleheader. If they wanted to call it that, it needs to be one game played and then a new one starts shortly after the first game is finished. All this does is make me have to choose between two games or be constantly flipping channels. Conveniently I’m a Vikings fan, so this decision is easy, but I still hate it. Also, the last time the Bears and Vikings played, it was ugly until the final minute. At home, I expect that last minute to not matter. 31-17 Minnesota.
Detroit has 3 big wins…the rest were one score games. Eagles should have lost to Carolina last week…why does the National media act like it’s only the Vikings that win some close games… Not a single team consistently is blowing out teams in the NFL. It’s so weird how they want to downgrade the Vikings for winning close games, more than they downgrade teams for losing close games lol.
Probably due to the Vikings leading the league in winning 1 score games 2 seasons ago only to be booted out of the playoffs round 1, much like many recent Steelers teams
@ ya…but that was obviously a totally different team, handicapped by the worst defense in the league (worst D coordinator of all time), and a Kirk Cousins who is limited and has only one playoff win his whole career. This team is top 5 in both scoring offense and defense. And Darnold has just hit an Elite level. We’ll see if he can stay hot. Best QB in the league last 4 games with 12 tds 0 ints and a 126 QB rating.
