What an adorable children's journal. I have always loved those little golden book's as a kid. you have added such cute art to your darling creation. I love all of Sue's works of art.
Wonderful as usual! I can picture a 'tween' girl snuggled in her room on a rainy afternoon sharing her secrets with this little journal. So sweet and nostalgic. Thank you for sharing your creativity.
I love what you did with this Little Golden book. I collect them and make journals. The large cat tag at the beginning made my heart skip a beat, lol! That is so cute!
Hey Sue love your journal. My name is Sue too. Just saw you were from Glencoe MN. I live in Paynesville Mn. about 60 miles from you. Small world. I'm also a paper crafter. I've been watching your channel for awhile now. Love your creations. The temperature got to 60 today I hope it's finally spring. It's been along winter. I'll be crafting in the garden now and save inside crafting for rainy days. But will be creating either way. Happy crafting to you. I'll be waiting for your creations.
So cute & I am so happy to see the full page size, I always wondered why everyone didn't do that. I have a couple of these Little Golden Books that I couldn't give away lol so this has inspired me to go ahead and make journals with them myself. Thx dear for another very interesting video.
Sue you are right. I was thinking the same thing that this journal is different than your vintage journals. But this was such a fun journal. I love the bee and what a huge butterfly. Remembering good ole childhood days. Thank you for sharing. I'm glad you were able to upload the video. :)
Wow Sue I can’t believe it. I too have made some little golden books into journals but have never shown them & of course I am in ‘limbo’ with all my stuff packed away. But this is awesome. Mine are nowhere as lovely as yours though. Love 💕 😊
You are the first person or video I have seen that keeps the right size of the original book. Do you have a video showing how you took apart and made the spine.. ❤️♥️🙌🙌🙌
I really appreciate all the unique and special papers and ephemera you put into your Little Golden Books. This one is just precious! What did you use to build up the hinges on the cover? I do that too and I use a large bead of glue on both sides of the cover. When it hardens, it’s pretty sturdy. Do you mind telling me what you use?
You are a genius. I have made some LGB journals but mine are a long way from being as wonderful as yours. I am curious how you save that spine however. I would love it if you would show us how you did that. I have been rebuilding the spines and saving the pages intact but those staples they used to make them are really tough so I am curious how you managed to get the spine apart and save that 1/2 inch. Thank you for sharing. I LOVE LGBs and their graphics. Have all my own, my husband's and my kid's but I don't use them for the journals. All of mine and my husband's are from the late 40's to early 50's. Shows our age! Our grandchildren have their mother's and have been enjoying them. I think these journals are a wonderful way to resurrect them.
Thanks Julie, I am hoping to someday have time to make tutorials. I also have some of the older golden books. I find it almost impossible for me to disassemble the old, old, books. They would have to be in really rough shape and destined for the trash, then I would use them. :)
I am not able to successfully fill custom orders. When a journal is finished, I post a notice on my fb page - Innkeeper's Journal Then I post the youtube video to show everyone what it looks like. It is then available in my Etsy store. Thank you for your interest in my journals.
Darling!! Did you say you sell these on etsy? I would like to make items with old book pages also, however I read somewhere to be careful of copyright rules , as in, I think copyright rules go back to a certain year, like 1922 or something?? So anything older than that is considered public domain and may be used in items for resale. It's confusing! I'm Curious if your familiar with this at all ?! Thank you for sharing!
Oh, is that the key... using the original page?! That's what I would be doing! Great! Thanks so much for the clarification! I guessI never was clear about the condition of using the book pages in their original form, I never considered using copies anyway . 😀
There are many uses for a journal, you decide what you want it to be. It can be a a daily record of your life, like a diary. It can be like a scrapbook where you keep things you like. Some people document their child's life. It can be a collection of quotes, ideas, feelings or plans. Writing things down has a lot of meaning and value to some people.
Innkeeper's Journal by Sue Olson hmmmmmm. Well, at that I can see use for them. Also, this isn’t the first of your tutorials that Ive perused. You are very generous with your information. I’m afraid journals are now added to my vast list of crafts of interest 😀
Charming and beautiful workmanship!
Thank you
This is adorable, Sue. Such wonderful images included in the journal. Tfs
Thank you Edwina
Oh I love this, especially the hairband closure with the gorgeous flower x

So sweet. Love how you saved the cover so nothing gets covered up in the picture. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you KatyLyn

What a beautiful journal, you did a great job with this little golden book. ❤️
So cute Sue, I made one as well, but painted the cover and put a cute vintage boy pic on the cover, I love yours.
Thank you Chris
Love the way you laid out the sheets/pages! The colors are well thought out! I adore the crocheted flower on the headband for the closure! 😊💕
Thank you Ann
Wow I love the way you did this! So beautiful!

Thank you Elaine
I love that you used all kid stuff for a little golden book. I never understand why people use adult stuff for these journals.

That is a good idea. I think I used a strip of cardboard. Thanks for watching

I have never made it to your Etsy shop fast enough. How much about are they. Could I just order one site unseen?

Hi Tracy,
I have not copied anything. This is the original book. If I had copied the pages, and then tried to sell them, that would be different.
Oh, is that the key... using the original page?! That's what I would be doing! Great! Thanks so much for the clarification! I guessI never was clear about the condition of using the book pages in their original form, I never considered using copies anyway . 😀
Cute as heck but - I know they’re called journals but what are they used for?

You will enjoy making them. Create them with things you love that reflect your style
