I've been doing this pre swing weight shift. I've just gone from 110 to 100 to 95 in my last 3 rounds. Haven't duffed before the ball since ...I thank you! 👋👋😁👍
So glad I found your channel. Single digit, but struggling with this for a few years. Been working on your low point iron drills for last month and hitting my irons better than I have in some time. Thanks so much!
Thank you, l have been struggling with hitting the ball cleanly recently with more fat shots than thin, l will been practicing in future the placing of a coin or similar at the back of the ball in order to move my bottom point ahead of the ball, and putting a fraction more weight on my left side......l enjoy very much your coaching videos and watch them regularly, thanks again.
Tried this on the range today and can't believe how far back I must be bottoming out my swing. I took several 2p coins with me and soon lost them all down the range!! Great tip, I can really feel the difference in strike when get the low point forward. I will persevere!
Heard about your tip from " The Average Golfer" another You Tuber Golfer so had to see this tip myself, so now I have subscribed to your channel, going to look at your three tips for Senior Golfers. Thanks for sharing and this tip I will practice to see if I can improve my Iron Play.
I don't know how many times I've been told about weight shifting left - then I practice - then don't do it on the course!Getting better but this drill really drives it home. Makes a lot of sense - must try harder! 🤔 👍
Had the very same problem and our pro came up with a similar idea. I have tried focusing a bit ahead of the ball rather than looking at the ball itself. Definitely not a 1 handicap golfer though.
This is great and so simple. I really appreciated the video about focusing in front of the ball to have a low point in front. But when I practiced it (on synthetic grass), even though I felt I was striking it more consistently, I couldn't tell if I was still catching it fat. I reckon this is a great way to tell, although I might just use 5c coins, not sure I could afford anything higher if I keep catching them fat! 🤣
I have SO MUCH TROUBLE getting to my left side - using a Divot Board, I am hitting the ground four inches behind the ball. I will try your drill, and keep you posted.
I like the simplicity of striking the ball first here. But also teach us how to create your low hand swing with the right hand elbow bending so early creating that easy swing?
When I try to keep 80% weight on the forward side, I feel that I'm not using my body in the swing nearly enough. Can I compensate for this with more rotation? And if so, how do I avoid coming over the top?
just stick a piece of duck tape in the same location as you would put the coin. will serve the same function. If you hit the tape, it will come off or rip, and you won't have coins flying all over the place
I used to do drills like this when I was a kid but used to lose coins. Now when I work with my students I bring a ziplock bag full of Cheerios to the range instead.
I get mad at myself because I always hit a little fat, but I am still the longest hitter I play with. If I could strike cleaner, I would be even longer. I get in my own head feeling I need to swing hard to stay the longest guy. If I hit cleaner, I could back off that aggressive swing.
I focus in on the 'front edge' of the ball for irons/wedges/fairway woods to promote downward angle of attack and forward low point 👉 (sometimes even an inch ahead) Driver and putter i focus on the 'back edge' of the ball to promote upward AoA But im just a 5.1 handicap so you may want to hear from the main man himself. Peace ✌
For most golfers looking slightly ahead of the ball with irons, hybrids and fairway woods is great. With driver slightly behind but can depend on how high you tee driver.
Ben Hogan borrowed an action developed by a trick shot artist named Harry Frankenburg (stage name Count Yogi) who developed an unconventional swing style very similar ergonomically to chopping a V in a horizontal log with an axe at 45° which when applied to a golf swing maxes out ulnar deviation and LOCKS both wrists at the point in the downswing where the hands reach the back leg the club force is allowed to pull the right wrist straight and both wrists into full unlar deviation (thumbs down). It is the same snapping down wrist action that is seen in fly casting with a rod or accelerating the tip of a leather whip pass the sound barrier so it CRACKS. That maxing out of ulnar deviation locks up the wrists. It occurs in the conventional swing AFTER impact and is what allows the hands to turn over in the finish with right (trailing arm) being pulled straight. Frankenburg and Hogan figured out now to make it occur as: 1) Face was square to target as wrists locked, and 2) ball decompressed off the face of the club. There is a 90° range of motion between the full radial deviation put into the wrists with they are forced to cock in the takeaway and loaded more at the start of the downswing and maxed-out ulnar deviation. If you analyze how far and quickly the club head moves if you simple WAGGLE the wrists from full radial deviation to full wrist locked unlar deviation you will understand how much F = 1/2 (Mass x Velocity^2) force it will create to compress the golf ball IF IT OCCURS WHILE THE BALL IS COMPRESSING. What Frankenberg realized was that if you timed the action so the face came square to the target at exactly the moment the wrists locked into maxed out ulnar deviation the ball gets compressed more than in a conventional “sweep through” swing and that the abrupt stopping of the club due to the wrist locking will cause the compressed ball to fly off the face faster and with more spin on an iron due to the basic laws of physics. But because going from full radial deviation (lag) to full ulnar deviation (release of lag) whips the face of the club closed 45° it is necessary to change body position radically (compared to normal swing) using a stance that is 45° closed to the target line. With the stance closed 45° when the club swings down and wrists lock, face is also locked dead straight to the target and the ball flies off of it dead straight EVERY TIME. But the ball must be placed back near the rear foot because that is were the club meets ground with face square to target. I discovered and mastered the Count Yogi swing a dozen years ago reading George Peper’s book “The Secret of Golf” which is a compilation of articles from Golf Digest over the years Peper was its editor. At the same time I was re-tooling my swing using Hogan’s Five Lessons and I realize that Hogan had incorporated that same maxing out of ulnar deviation as ball flies off the face into his swing. It explained why was known for being such a dead straight and accurate ball striker able to hit 150 yard 7-irons into a fruit basket held by his practice caddy. It has been part of my swing for over a dozen years now since discovering it and it amazes me that it is not more universally understood and taught because it results in more powerful and accurate shots which are usually straight or controlled draws. If you are curious enough to try it how Hogan used that wrist action to compress the ball better and release it straight off the face to the target I explain the cause and effect visually here: th-cam.com/video/nJk5e7wQIZM/w-d-xo.html
Problem with this one, was he apparently is far from bring an average player, and ofcourse we know your not. How about showing an average hacker trying to make this work ?
I achieve great success every week with the guidance of my BROKER and since contacting my BROKER, Mrs Elizabeth Armstrong Palmer, I have gained a lot with small losses, her trading strategy is top-notch.
I have also been trading with her, The profits are secured and over a 100% return on investment directly sent to your wallet, I'm a living testimony of her work.
after watching so many TH-cam tutorial videos about trading I was still making losses until Mrs Elizabeth started managing my investments now I make $21,560 weekly. God bless Mrs Elizabeth Armstrong Palmer she’s been a blessing to my family.

I like the easygoing explanation of hitting the golf ball! You make it look so easy !
I love this tip Ali
I've never seen your website and found it thru the average golfer.
I've now subscribed and really glad I found you.
The weight distribution reminds me of stack and tilt. Good stuff.
Dang, you beat me to it.
Best way to golf s and t
Ali, what a good tip. Thank you.
Wow. Good stuff coach! Will try it on the range.

Once again another fantastic video, great little drill, another area where I struggle, but will try this tomorrow

Great teaching video. I may have missed it but I’d be grateful if you would say what club you are using. Is it a 6 or 7 iron?
I tried this at the range this evening and boy does it work thanks Ali
Great drill, very simple idea that’s works, keep up the good work.👍
Great video. Simple and intuitive.
Had the very same problem and our pro came up with a similar idea. I have tried focusing a bit ahead of the ball rather than looking at the ball itself. Definitely not a 1 handicap golfer though.
fantastic lesson i am terrible for early turf interaction but starting tomorrow hopefully i can start to change that with a 10p
Make it a quid, put more pressure on yourself to succeed.😉
Great tip will be trying it out tomorrow, keep up the great content

No coins were harmed in the making of this video, but the lost one...
Great video, and very useful tip!
Great lesson and drill.
Great drill that I'll be trying.

How do you weight shift but keep from the dreaded "sway"?
New to your channel, and can relate to this so much, will be putting this to practice 👍
Welcome aboard!
Can you start at address with club about 3 to 6 inches behind the ball vs right next to the ball? Will that help?
Love d tips I'm watching your videos last year r so, got back playing after 12 years,, Kidz,,, Mark from Dublin
Thanks Mark
Club and ball speed...which one generates longer ball travel? I never paid attention to these issues but they seem to make lot difference. Thanks 😊
Another great video Ali cheers
You're welcome
When I try to keep 80% weight on the forward side, I feel that I'm not using my body in the swing nearly enough.
Can I compensate for this with more rotation? And if so, how do I avoid coming over the top?
This is an expensive drill...I'm down $3.15 after half a bucket. I'll try pennies next time =P
Haha, yes definitely use pennies!
just stick a piece of duck tape in the same location as you would put the coin. will serve the same function. If you hit the tape, it will come off or rip, and you won't have coins flying all over the place
@@docraheelc I was just joking….
Good drill although I prefer putting a thin towel down to avoid damage to club
I'm going to practice this. On the driving range next time I go.
I used to do drills like this when I was a kid but used to lose coins. Now when I work with my students I bring a ziplock bag full of Cheerios to the range instead.
Great idea with the Cheerios . The ducks at my coarse will give it a thumbs up also
Is this something you should also do with a 3 wood
Will the coin work on grass or should I put a tee in the ground?
A great video that I will definitely be practicing down on the range.
You sure know a lot of secrets!!
Jesus i didn't have any coins and had to use my Krugerrand, spent all day looking for it!
Does the club handle need to be slightly forward ?
I get mad at myself because I always hit a little fat, but I am still the longest hitter I play with. If I could strike cleaner, I would be even longer. I get in my own head feeling I need to swing hard to stay the longest guy. If I hit cleaner, I could back off that aggressive swing.
Why is it that in golf, everything is a secret?
As a kid, my grandfather use to get me doing this with 2 cent pieces.
My low point is too far in front of the ball so how do I fix that ? ..
Great drill , I destroyed a poker chip ball marker though as I hadn’t got a coin 😂
I see you have boditrack now will you be doing a video with boditrack any time soon .....
So do we look at the ball or at the low point when aiming? This is my biggest issue
I focus in on the 'front edge' of the ball for irons/wedges/fairway woods to promote downward angle of attack and forward low point 👉 (sometimes even an inch ahead)
Driver and putter i focus on the 'back edge' of the ball to promote upward AoA

@@dapperdank3701 I don't even check my handicap that's how bad I am. Thanks for the input though 👍

I tried it with a dime, club behind. Think the dime passed the ball, still haven’t found it, 😂😂😂 in my Golf Simulator!
good drill . But hitting the precious coin and forgetting it is not good omen, what i think.
Where should the club strike for wedges compared to irons?
Still after the ball
Just embrace the moe norman/bryson swing and call it a day
To control the low point.....it is counterintuitive....do not use a coin...its going to be worse
Can I use something less expensive like a piece of paper? I’ll need an ATM machine with me at the range!
Stack and tilt then
Isn’t this about ball position?
No, golfers can have perfect ball position but poor control of low point.
It’s a great drill but I don’t think it’s a good idea using a coin. There’s the potential to damage to the sole of your club.
You'll be fine, my clubs are forged and don't mark up
