This episode made me love Luna even more. I'm surprised that I haven't heard anyone draw a comparison between Luna's actions and self-harm many people struggle with. Loved the video, by the way, and looking forward to future ones.
I cried too the moment Luna revealed the Tantibus' origins, punishing herself with guilt night after night ever since her return. Heartbreaking even. Tears of empathy turned to happy tears at the end when we see her having the first good dream she's been able to have in more than 1000 years possibly. Her self induced nightmare was at an end at long last.

Actually, animation for the second half isn't finished yet. They released clips of animatics at SDCC of the last 2 episodes and, well, one of them doesn't even have a background yet.

Another possible explanation (and I'm really sorry if this counts as a spoiler): they might be trying to get the potentially holiday-related episodes out at a reasonably appropriate time. Y'know, a spooky episode near Halloween, a cheerful episode near Christmas-that sort of thing. Alternatively (though probably unlikely), they ran into a snag in post-production and they're taking time to fix it. Something like, "This episode doesn't make any sense! We need to rewrite it completely!" Not very likely, but possible. It happens...I think. But in the meantime, you DO have two seasons of Gravity Falls to watch and upload; and might I suggest a series called RWBY? It's a full-fledged anime produced by the late Monty Oum and the guys who made Red Vs Blue-it's funny, action-packed, and features a remarkable cast of memorable characters. Not trying to hype it up; I just want you to get interested enough to check it out. :P Also, Happy Early Birthday! Sorry you won't get to watch MLP on it, though. If anything it's because they need to finish Season 5 itself, as well as maybe fitting in any possible holiday centered episodes around that time of year, because according to that possible leaked episode title list that's been right so far, there might be some more episodes with a holiday kind of theme that they'd wanna schedule around that time like Halloween or Christmas or something.

I think that the reason for the hiatus is because in America, Mid-July to late August are shit for TV ratings. It's when people go out, go on vacation, attend state fairs, camp, etc. The Daily Show, Real Time with Bill Maher, and a lot of other summer shows go away because they don't want to have debut episodes go though the miserable summer ratings slump.
I thought shows like Daily Show and other political shows take August off because congress leaves and not much political happens in the month. R.I.P. The Daily Show. :(

Everyone seems to love it though, but I can't share that love...It definitely doesn't beat Amending Fences, and definitely doesn't beat The Cutie Map. I've complained about this before, but I really felt like a lot of the episode got drowned in fan pandering and general wtf-moments...

However Luna needed a somewhat relevant episode, and to have this deep of emotion from her, not only makes Luna more relevant and appealing, but also sets a milestone for the series by sending out a powerful message about guilt, pity, and self-harm. I'd say the last 3 minutes of this episode are better than certainly a great ton of former episodes.
Amazing how such scenes can escalate from being hilarious, to depressing, in a few moments!
