I"ve enjoyed your video a lot. Today the little bend at the end of a filament roll jammed the AMS. I followed you GREAT instructions on dismantling the AMS. It took some work to get the "bend" out, but your video saved the day and 2 hours of printing with PETG.
The 🐐 literally less than a fixe minute fix with this video. THANK YOU
You are such a blessing. Thank you for all the help you are providing.
This is how I learned not to use ancient crispy PLA from years past in my AMS . . . It will snap. You will learn to disassemble the AMS ~AND~ the extruder ! - 😂
Just what I needed. Fast simple tutorial that got me back up and running in under 5 minutes. Thank you
Thanks for posting this. I just got my AMS last week. After 20 hours of printing, I couldn't print anymore and got an error. I discovered that one of my filaments had broken, which is what blocked the AMS. Your video helped me clear it. Thank you!
Thanks man ! First time my AMS got stuck, followed your steps, quick and easy to fix, back to work. I wish you success and continue helping us around the world ! From Brazil, cheers !
Thanks! Just had this problem and thanks to your video it was an easy fix. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Thank you for getting to the point of the video quickly. I am back up and running!
Thank you for another great video! I just had a filament break in the AMS and this helps me so much!
Same!
thanks, this fixed my ams problem
You are lucky. For many this has been less than the plug-and-play item it's been touted as. The AMS needs a total upgrade. Having to literally take a machine part to fix is unacceptable especially when it is a £300 piece of plastic. I imagine a lot of people who bought it because it was supposed to be reliable will just be put off once this happens.
What coincidence, I just tore apart my ams 4 days ago. To install a new main frame,my gen1 was breaking off at the roller mounts. That's a lot more involved than installing a Creality from scratch 😄
Turns out our tech skills are still very much relevant in Bambu times, right!
Thx for another great video 😊 nice to see how to fix these issues 😊
Brilliant. Thank you Sir. I can finally get printing again !
This literally just happened to me today, LIFE SAVER!
Thank you! The tube couplers (Bowden??) are the trickiest part for me, whether clearing from the back of the AMS or from one of the slots.
I've only had 2-3 filament breakages in 500+ prints. Not bad, plus I'm using cheap filament so it's to be expected. It's a pretty easy machine to take apart and put back together!
Thanks for this vid - I had some cheap PLA (now in the bin!) which had caused the "unloading spool of death" on my AMS. This viedo plus 10 mins of my time and problem solved. No more cheap PLA from now on! Subbed - thanks!
Very helpful video, thank you for posting.
Thanks for this! 2nd day on my P1S this happened. The wires going to the connectors are the worst part of this repair, if only they had made the wires just a few inches longer.
Thank you man, You save my day!!! Big Thumbs up!!!
Thanks for the help, that ws so easy to follow - so glad I'm subscribed your channel... you're a legend!
Just what I need it!
Thank you. I needed this help!
thanks for this video. I was looking for that Allen wrench with the T handle in the description but didnt see it. Looks much easier to use than the ones that came with the printer.
Great video. Very helpful. Thank you.
Thanks.....I have had to do this more times than I want to admit....
Great video. Thank you!
Thank you, sorted my prob! Cheers
Ahhh so simple thank you 😊
I bought the X1 carbon with the AMS when it was on Kickstarter and I was backer number 2812 so I've had this printer for quite some time. I have well over 2,000 hours on the printer and for the last two months I haven't used it. I went to fire it up a few days ago had a small hiccup but fixed it and printed off ABS actually for the first time and it came out perfectly. For the next part of the project I had to print with this clear PLA that was kind of old and brittle and not really stored correctly so I put it in my filament heater for a while. I also used the ironing mode which made the windows for my project come out really nice. The issue I had was a couple days later, I forgot to remove that clear PLA so when I turned the printer on and it did its normal AMS cycle, the filament became brittle again and cracked off throughout the whole PTFE tube all the way from the AMS unit itself all the way to the top of the tool head. It kept giving me some type of error and kept trying to rewind the spool and I had no idea what was going on for a minute. What I had to do was basically what the video showed and take out the filament from the AMS end, then I had to run some filament through the rest of the tube to the tool head to clear out all the broken pieces of PLA through that hole tube system and you can only feed the filament in One direction where it goes through the cutter if you try to do it the other way you'll get stuck at the cutter or the back part of the printer where the little box thing is with the springs. It was definitely my fault. Make sure you check your PLA and make sure it's not brittle before you turn on your printer and it starts to cycle through each filament slot so nothing gets stuck anywhere in the whole PTFE tube system. Hope that helps someone. Other than that this printer has been a dream and has still left all my other printers that I still own in the dust and I haven't even used them in several months. Ivoned several expensive name brand type of the line 3D printers and I can't say enough about bambu. It beats every other printer I've had hands down. I still own a very heavily modified CR10 version 1 with custom firmware, I have a CR10 smart Pro and I have a CR5 Pro high temperature version and closed printer. I think I voned almost every single printer creality has came out with and 80% of the time they would have to be returned either straight out of the box or after about 30 days for one issue or another. Same with the other brands of printers I've owned. I was either going to buy the Bambu or build a Voron. I'm glad I went with Bambu. The only time I've ever had an issue with the printer was something minor and I contacted customer support through a ticket, they replied within 12 hours and 48 hours after that I had a new cable at my doorstep but the problem had worked itself out so I didn't have to install it. Now the last few times I've tried to use the printer I still get an error for force sensor 3 which was the original problem before so I just tap on the bed and the loose connection just seems to fix itself. I went several months after getting the new part and not putting it in and the error went away until I stopped using the printer for a couple months. Not a big deal just more of an annoyance when it happens. I got a jiggle the nut under the bed and tap on the corner of the bed where that force sensor is and wiggle the wires underneath and it usually just solves the problem. The last time I did it must have knocked it back into place like I said because I didn't have any issues for months up until a few days ago and that was after that break of not using the printer anymore.
What do you do when you dont fine stuck filament in the tube and the AMS is still freaking out
Thank you!
amazing video, thank you so much !
Thank you! I got my printer up and running in 5 minutes!!
yup thatll do it, mine broke off between the 4 to 1 splitter and the feeder that pulls it from the reel. easy repair after you've done it once.
I couldn’t get the clogged tube with the filament out. Do you have to push on anything to release it properly? I don’t want to brute force it out
Another fantastic video from jack blacks brother
🤣 absolutely! I'm actually on a mission to pick the printer of destiny!
I have a weird problem I followed this but it's like now my unit won't pick up the filament when I go to put it back in
You missed a step (remove the Boden tube on the ams) took me awhile to figure it out
Thank you!😁
This was the way I found out a lot of my old filament was too 'wet' for the AMS. Load it and it's fine. Load _another_ spool in the slot next to it, and for some reason the AMS like to give the first spool a little tug.
_snap_
That wet filament is now stuck between the feed motor in the back of the AMS and the feeder by the spool, necessitating disassembly as you just showed. It happened twice in one day, so for now I just save the 'old' filament to be fed from the spool holder and not the AMS.
(Should only take about 10 minutes) you sir underestimate the patience I have when I’m working with something this expensive
My AMS is not letting filament through the black bit, any tips on sorting that out ?
I needed some black filament for the pupils of some eyes but my Polyterra black was in the house and I was in my workshop, however. I had a roll end of old black PLA in there workshop and so I loaded it and of course it snapped as the radius of the coils were too tight for the AMS.
day 2, small piece of PLA stuck in the 4 way. tension spring in the middle of 4 way will not move. long tweezers wont budge the filament, not enough surface area to grab
Great to see how multiple mistakes add up.
if you're careful and tilt the carrier piece front face down you don't need to disconnect the 2 wire connectors, at least on mine I didn't have to.
Where can I buy the tool you used to remove the screws inside the back of the AMS?
Thank you
Thank you Jim, another great video! You're lucky that you got a year before having to do that. I've had to do it many times already, but it hasn't ever been the fault of the printer or AMS. Brittle filament etc seems to be the worse enemy of the AMS.
I have some orange filament that's going in the trash. KD Essentials. It didn't just break. It shattered. I had pieces in every tube.
good video thanks
What if the filament is stuck in the actual loading mechanism rather than at that black hub area?
What if your wire is caught in the feeder past were you removed it from the tube
hey thanks!!!!!
The filament got stuck inside that 4way track piece not in the tube, is there a way to further take it apart to get to it? Or do I need to replace that entire piece?
If you have the AMS already out of its box, flip it upside down. There's a piece that runs up the center of that. Four-way dad can flex like it's on a spring if I remember right. If you push the bottom so it opens up it will let anything stuck in there fall out. If you can't get it, shoot me an email and I'll shoot you a screenshot.
@@TheEdgeofTechthat’s where mine is stuck too and I can’t get it out, it’s right in the middle of that 4 way piece. I don’t see any way for it to flex
Lucky, been printing 2 days and two filament stuck...
What if the filament is clogged inside the hub?
Help me jack! I have an idea for a mod for the ams but I am computer tarded. Get extension cables for the ams so we can just unscrew it from the the unit and take it out with ouy having to fight with the cables
Over a year? I had one stuck on the first week! 😅
Haha 😆 Yes I have four of them and I've been using my original one for over a year since last May. This is the first time it's ever happened to me.
Me too, but that’s what I get for using sketchy filaments
thx
Grazie 🙏
And what is with the Filament in the Printer?
It took my ten minutes to find the right Allen wrench 😂
I'm puzzled by the recommended solution for removing broken filament from the AMS. Wouldn't a simpler and more straightforward method be to disconnect the PTFE tube from the back and allow the AMS to push the filament through until it falls out of the end of the tube? Additionally, using another spool of filament could help ensure the stuck filament is effectively pushed out without getting jammed again. The current suggestion to disassemble the machine seems excessively complicated for dealing with a piece of filament that could be more easily pushed through rather than pulled out. This alternative approach could save a lot of time and hassle for users. However, to my knowledge, this method isn't currently an option, which I believe is an oversight. I think Bambu Lab should consider investigating and possibly implementing this as a viable solution.
🤦
Happen to me on the second day of having the AMS
Stuck on 1:50, no matter how much I push the tube won't come out
Only once? You’re lucky. I’ve had to do this so many times. Those connecting harnesses under the AMS are too short. I don’t understand why they didn’t make them longer. I finally disconnected the AMS and use the rear spool holder. I only plug it in for multi-filament prints which is rare for me.
Crazy! Yeah I have four of them and I've been using my original since last May and this is the first time I've ever had it happen. But as I said in the video, it was self-caused. They should have not pulled it out the way I did. There's been many firmware updates to the AMS, and I believe they're updating versions as they find things to fix as well. Definitely appreciate the feedback!
Try higher quality filament, and heat-drying filament before use.
Agree - I have a Y splitter that allows me to use the external spool easily
I keep getting Filament pullback error. Sucks.
Wish there was a way to just push it through
I am crossing my fingers that I don’t get filament stuck/clogged somewhere. That’s the main reason I haven’t ventured into TPU.
Waaayy longer than you make it out! You totally glossed over the part where you have to clean up all the desiccant you spill when turning over the AMS because the custom desiccant holders you made don’t latch well and you forgot to take them out!
😂😂😢😂😂
It might be “easy” but so time killing and annoying
More than half of this video is useless. - Content starts at 2:15. Interrupted by advertisement at 3:09, ends at 3:44. Video ends at 4:45. -- 4 min 5 seconds of crap, with a 6 minute and 3 second long video.
