So awesome seeing the old bar at CBGB's again. The neon signs above the bar, the racks of glasses overhead and all the playbills on the walls .. and all the funky people crammed up against the bar. I even remember that pinball machine. Those were the days my friend. 'Glory' days.
When Malcom McLaren came to NY he saw Richard at CBGB and this is who he designed Jonny Rotten after..true story, im 66 now worked at Rat Boston 76..78 ..see u in the pit still
Yes! That’s the band that turned me on to punk rock. I was living in Indiana in 1978 and my sister bought my their album. I finally saw them live in Boston in 2000.

Such a classic!! This was my entree to punk rock, the year it came out I was 17, this changed my approach to the dying 70s "rock" music scene months before I heard The Ramones, Sex Pistols, Suicide etc. "I Can Take It or Leave It Each Time" remains a viable approach to life!!
I used to LIVE at CB's. lol RIchard Hell was so good. Such a relief from the usual shit bands who played there. One of them was mine. haha I remember that stage bounced up and down when you tried to dance on it and although there were monitors, of course, the sound of your voice would get sucked up by the mic, bounce off the back wall and then come back at you about 1.5 seconds later! lol It was SO hard to sing! The place was appalling but I had some of the best times there!
I always thought thunders had the best look and Jerry Nolan too but damn Richard Hell with that tall skinny body ripped clothes that hair he makes Sid Vicious look ugly lol
@@leahflower9924 Well, the thing is the Sex Pistol's entire image was based on Richard Hell. In fact, if the Voidoids had been able to make it to England they could have *been* the Sex Pistols.
@@loganstroganoff1284 I love 'em all, including the English bands, but the fact is that the Voidoids were a much more accomplished band than the Sex Pistols. The Voidoids had Robert Quine, who was an absolutely killer guitarist on a high level of innovation compared to Steve Jones or Johnny Ramone, who had really just begun learning guitar when their bands started.
I can't ever hear this even once without getting shivers up my spine listening to Quine rip that up. That is so f***iing great. p.s. props to the original 1958 Bob McFadden & Dor recording. Sure don’t miss the bathroom lol
I know a lot of Hillys chili passed through there.
Old fart now. Would love to go back for one night.

Check out Lorretta 1976 by Nervous Eaters
Great times! Was looking for me in the crowd! Love you Richard!

His punk look along with heartbreakers put all those "London boys" to shame! ❤️

Thought it sounded exactly like the record
I heard that the Sex Pistols "stoled" this music from Richard Hell to become Pretty Vacant.
Nice job!
Great job!

The Stray Cats Stray Cat Strut is very musically similar, but a slower tempo.

Marc Ribot was a good friend of Robert Quine.
What a fu##ing great song for my generation!

This music reminds me Bob Dylan's "All Along the watchtower"
It's the punk All Along the Watchtower
That gets a ........S-w-o-o-n Mistress Bex 💋
Go Now!
One thing I am in total agreement with Hell about: the Bessie Banks version of "Go Now" is so much better than the Moody Blues cover.
Sort of the starting point...

I can't get over how much Richard Hell looks like Steve McQueen.
But better looking. :)
Would have been better...had it been 'live'

origin of punk. of course, shameless english people (pistols) ripped off his whole act and took credit for everything.
Yes haha there's a Johnny thunders interview where he said Malcolm took everything he knew from us
Throw his bass off, needs more dope.
