Fraser You are talking to an ex fish farmer, who has handled more fish than you’ve had hot dinners, so I shall ignore that comment.

@@LolsFishingAdventures So do you think fishing with 12lb line for pike is a good idea ? I hope that you realise every time you get snagged and leave a baited trace in the water that will end with a dead pike . Do you think giving a pike enough time it swallows everything right down hooks and all is a good idea ? Your mate even asks if you left it so long that the pike swallowed the whole trace down then bit the line. So i do not think that you should ignore my comment and go and buy some books and DVD`s on pike fishing and learn how to fish for them safely before you go again.

Fraser not even worthy of an answer.

@@fraser661 It was a reasonable explanation/suggestion for a snap off on strike - I think at Hellmoor Loch.... doesn't mean he intended a fish to swallow the bait right down. That does happen at times to anyone, even if you strike at the slightest touch - especially in warm weather when they don't mess about! As for 12 lb line...it's what we used for years in the dim and distant past. We do use braid now... I think mine is 40lb bs and LOLs is similar. A vast improvement on monofil, and great stuff for cutting through weedbeds! If it makes you feel any better, I've fished a fair bit in the Border Lochs this year. I haven't had ANY fish take the hooks down deep, and have had my best year ever. Sorry long reply.... I agree with your comment on books and videos...even if certain "anglers" have told me they're a waste of time!!

Takes a good fisherman, not to dish the location, when it's known for some good fish.

stefankaz53 St Mary’s is known for some good fish, but they’re bloody hard to find! You could lose 500 anglers around it and not know they were there. Like everyone else, I have my “secret spots”, and only ever video the public ones which are all very well known.

Takes a good fisherman to make a video about a day when he caught nout! Maybe part 2 at Hellmoor in December?

"The Great Scottish Pike Hunt - Part 2" will have no such problems! Can't possibly happen twice, (Can it??)
