Greetings to you Fr. Mike Schmitz and to all of you brethren in Christ from a Lebanese Catholic. Please pray for the Christians of the Middle East in Iraq, Syria and Egypt, and keep them in your thoughts and actions.
I will pray for you my brothers and sisters in the middle east, keep up the good fight over there and never give up!!! NEVER!!! GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND MAY THE PRECIOUS VIRGIN MARY AND ST.MICHAEL LOOK AFTER YOU ALWAYS. ❤✌🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊
The struggle is real. I'm always feeling guilty because I choose faith, work, and supporting my family over friends and a million other great things I could be doing. This video reminds me to let the guilt go cause I've decided what my priorities are and I can't do it all.
I know that guilt , iv changed so much since finding my faith and I just feel a little guilty for always putting God first but if I put God first I’m able to put my family before everything else 🙏
he just giving yall 2 examples of yin and yang. the version were he wink, and the other of not winking. doing that gives karama points for the entry to heaven, the more truth, meaning the higher level you go.
Don't worry about your faith being strong enough. God will help you every moment of everyday. You just have to be willing and love Him. God will help you with everything!
Fr. Schmitz is someone I really think might reach my fallen away thirty-somethings! He’s young, hip, relevant, and theologically right on! God bless you!!
A wonderful saying of Australia first Saint....which i visit often in North Sydney....she said " You do what you need to do and let God do the rest". That helps me to stop and make better decisions. Pope Francis says..' When praying and deciding on sometime ...do rely on your first answer pray more and when you know the first is correct...then follow through to what God says...
I was just discussing this with my spiritual director today! She said the priorities in your life should always be: (1) Prayer, (2) Family, (3) Work, (4) Apostolate. Then here's Father Mike saying basically the same thing in a different way! ☺️
Just as your car runs more smoothly and requires less energy to go faster and farther when the wheels are in perfect alignment, you perform better when your thoughts, feelings, emotions, goals, and values are in balance...
This is true, there will always be a trade-off. Everything is not great, but I think how you gratify or appreciate what you have matters, even if it’s not “balanced”.
"Hope you find some balance, or at least have a great time balancing." love that I do have fun with the chaos sometimes. Just have to teach myself that it doesn't always have to be stressful.
The story of Mary and Martha comes to mind when Martha was upset with Mary because she wasn’t helping with the preparation of the food but was choosing to sit at the lords feet and love on Him . So many times I will say to myself am I being Martha right now or Mary ? Thanks Fr. Mike
I have always found it interesting how there are so few married saints that were married throughout their life. There are certainly saints that were widowed and chose a vocation of priesthood or became a sister, but so few who the church has canonized while staying completely engaged in the vocation of marriage. It makes those of us who are married and seeking to live a life as a reflection of the lives of our favorite saints feel like we will never achieve sainthood because the vocation of marriage and ultimately parenthood seems to distract from a total devotion to God. Add to that the fact that in most households, both parents must work to make ends meet so there is another distraction to keep you from an intimate relationship with God. This is something I struggle with as I learn more and more about the saints. But I have come to this conclusion. Even married people can be saints. We may not have the time to spend hours in prayer or adhere to a regular attendance of the Liturgy of the Hours or even daily mass (although I make that a priority for myself)...but when we are performing our duties in our chosen and God given vocation, we can still maintain an intimate relationship with Christ. What I find myself doing is incorporating him in everything I do. From something as simple as doing laundry to something as complex as saying a Rosary as I swim 2 miles everyday and work with patients as an Aquatic Physical Therapist. I think by being the change you wish to see, you become a tangible example of a living saint or at least the best version of St. “You” you can be, given the time and talent that you have in the present moment. So as disheartening as it can be that I feel called to have a deeper relationship with Christ as a sister, I must keep in mind that even our priests and nuns had parents that gave them the foundation to seek this relationship with the Lord through their vocation. I also look to he Blessed Mother. She was married and had a child to care for and she is perhaps the best example of sainthood we can ask for intercession from while seeking balance in our lives! I may not become a canonized saint of the Catholic Church, but I may be the inspiration and motivating force to help my children seek to become saints in their chosen vocation!
I just realized for the first time after having watched many of his videos that he says "from all of us here at Ascension Presents". I have always understood it as "Malvis here at Ascension Presents" and I was wondering who Malvis was.
I listen to your message and actually listen to the end. You have wise things to say. I hope to have my messages to people be good enough and life changing to listen to the end.
Loved this video father Mike most interesting and always such an intensity in your eyes when you speak of anything even remotely Jesus, I just love that. Keep 'em coming father and God bless you and your family and those around you.
This couldn't come at better time. I am drowning in balancing resposibilities and things I love and want to do. Another great video, thanks fr. Mike, God bless you! :)
I agree wholeheartedly. One thing I would say is that our 6 days of work need not all be taken up with generating profit for our worldly employers. So the balance may be a 4 day working week but maybe you spend a lot of time helping others or growing your own food or studying something etc on the other 2. Just a little thought. God bless.
You speak fast, but seem very wise. Thank you for these words of encouragement. If you are called to be a Saint, you can't do it all. I also liked the verse in Ephesians very very powerful (God Bless you much)
Love your idea of BALANCING instead of balance. Some thoughts while listening to your video clip. 1. life, work and faith are not really separable. Rather they are infused, or shall I say, incorporated into one's daily life. 2. Live wise, do what it means for you to do. Absolutely agree. But we often tend to skip the part how we shall find out what we really wanna do. As an individual, what is one's own mission? For some, it seems that they never find out till they head out.

I wish I could have watched this video six years ago as a freshman in college. You just phrased what my dad spent four years trying to tell me in a way that 18-year-old me would have listened to. Instead I spent four years taking 18 credits nearly every semester and participating in as many clubs as I could fit in the gaps of my schedule -all because I wanted to do everything. And in those four years, I was wondering how on earth I could use my major to serve God. My degree is in fashion design, so that's a answer I'm still working toward, but I have goals now, and I schedule in prayer instead of everything that sounds fun.
Another amaazing video Father Mike love it like ALL of your videos without exception! And ummwell you winked and it was the most ENDEARING thing nothing more . Umm like someone said a blessing would be nice as well as the wink of course ')) The wit the seriousness and the message in all of your videos is NO mistake. It's just so awesome listening to you and I can't seem to get enough and hang on your every word. God bless and keep doing what you do and winning souls one day at a time or maybe thousands at a time?
I simply love his insights... as it's always so easy to resonate to his words. I wish I could give this to a friend who struggles with my schedule, however I feel it would be too direct. Fr. Mike says it beautifully when he says productive people prioritize. You also start to notice in your life when your just balancing as to prioritizing because you will notice when you do so you are more productive in the ares of most importance to you. - This came at the perfect time as you reminded me as to that priority in a decision I made today adding more to the balancing yet fully knowing this choice was a priority to that stands firmly in my faith.. Your always a blessing Fr. Mike and Ascension Presents ~ Ps... I think we're all good with a Priest that winks. :)
I like balance .It comes normally to me .I guess cause i was on the other end befor .I played 5 sports in one yr plus Girl scouts which I loved .I was so burned out after that yr i had to take a break .Now i keep a couple of sports and let the rest go .Prayer always everyday .and food thats all i need
This is weird, I was literally having a crisis on wondering whether I should take AP Physics 1 or not and I'm worried that not taking it would mean a bad college, and a bad college a bad life and then I'd never find any sort of balance or happiness. I don't know what to do anymore. Taking the class would mean giving up so much of my mental health, and, with it, my budding relationship to the Church so I'm not sure whether I should take it or not. Idk, I want a stable life, enough money to get by and do well, and just be happy. But I don't know how to do that. I don't know what I want to study. Idk. I'm lost. It is weird that the thing I was worrying most about was this, and then suddenly, the moment I open YT, this gets recommended. Idk if someone read this. Just need to get it off of my chest.
Yes! I totally understand what your saying. This year im taking AP bio and AP hug (I chose these classes because I was worrying about my gpa and college)I also want to attend a good college. Sometimes I am worried that it will take up most of my time and sometimes I do think that it will consume most of my time up but I am now learning to make room for God and making everything I do glorify him. Also, speak to God! Be honest and tell him about every single thought and worry that you have and he will help you.
I'm some what new into faith or atleast starting too take it seriously.. I'm slowly finding my way but sadly struggling with the basics and understanding of the basic terms and practises, but I'm sure I'll get there

There is one thing, it must be accepted by your editors. I translated until now 5 episodes......so please, can you make it available? Our prayers for protection and peace are with you. Naji
Well, honestly, I prefer the wink. It's friendly, inviting and fun-ish, which I think Priests could use a lot more of in people's minds (they're friendly, not bad/mean/evil).

Father Mike, I sure enjoy your videos each week and never miss your homily podcast! I'm a teacher in RCIA and this is my first year. In a month I have to teach about the Death and resurrection of Jesus. I know some about it but I want to know more. Do you have any videos that covers this, or tips, or good resources? To prepare for my lesson. Any help would be appreciated.
I think way too many women think they can have it all. Untrue. A mom's vocation is being a mom, and raising her kids. Her kids were not meant to be sent elsewhere. They are meant to be home with MOM. If a woman wants a career, she should not have kids. Make a choice Mom
Good Evening Father Schmitz, I was wondering what is the Catholic Church views on surrogacy, and being an organ donor. Would you please shed some light on the subject?
Ingrid Gil Organ donation is acceptable as far as I know. Surrogacy isn't because it involves either IVF or sex outside of marriage, both of which are grave sins.
Thank you for your videos, father! I have a question, I put it to a other priest to but never answered: can a person who smokes receive holy communion and can a priest smoke and consacrate the eucharist? Thank you!
Hi father! Could you please do a video about theology and what it means in the catholic world. I know it's a study of God and religion but I don't understand when someone says something from the Bible but in a theological way? I don't think I'm making any sense? :(
Father Mike, would you kindly take time to talk about living in doubt between Catholic and Protestant faith? I've been Catholic all my life and for many issues that we have with Protestants I know the arguments and proofs and reasons, I can somehow defend the case, but then again, I sometimes feel like "Why the hell do we need all this? Why bother about all the nitty gritty details of Catholic theology, when you can just believe?" All that really makes me feel torn apart at times, because I understand both sides and agree with both sides and can't really make up my mind.
you should check out his full-length homilies on iTunes / bulldogcatholic.org -- they go a lot more in depth about those topics! :) That is something I used to/still struggle with at times but he does a really great job of tackling both the head and the heart issues of it all :)
Michał Marczyński I actually went from Protestant to Catholicism. I could never bash where I come from, because it has taught me a lot about faith and praying. But the "nitty gritty" is what keeps you grounded, when I was Protestant I switched church three times in 20 years and each time it was different teaching style and a different way to be a Christian and although we all shared the same God, we didn't all have the same vision and that can be confusing. I love all my brothers and sisters in Christ, but I found rest and peace in Catholicism. There was a history, a structure and one truth. Hope it helps!
Annabelle, thank you for that story. It's interesting how you found that the details of Protestantism were grounding you, while I sometimes feel the same way about Catholicism, and it seems to be the case for many Protestants who would say "Why do you pray to this or that saint, why do you kneel or bow or do whatever, when you can just believe?" Just like you, I think it's great that the Catholic Church has one solid teaching, in contrast to Protestant churches but then again, it's one of those things that are hard to defend. Why do more things (like pray certain forms of prayer, attend specific types of Mass, obey fasts and such) when you may not do any of it as well?
Hello everyone, I was just wondering if people could give me examples of why they believe in God. I'm in a real struggle right now. Help would be appreciated. Thanks
Amalot - I believe in God because I have seen/perceived His manifestation in what is good, in what is true, and in what is beautiful, as well as in extraordinary miracles that defy all logic. I have also felt His presence guiding me, helping me, consoling me, encouraging me, correcting me, loving me. It was not always like this. There was a time when I was in great darkness and I couldn't feel Him at all -I suffered intensely then. So it took a lot of time, and great effort, and trust, to develop a relationship with Him. He was always there for me, but I couldn't sense Him because the voices of my ego, fear, anger, arrogance, sadness, and self-centeredness were much louder. So I had to work hard at trying, to develop some humility and some sincere selfless love, and to service others. I am still very far from perfect, but I improved a bit. With that came a better capacity to feel Him and His love, and hear His kind and always wise and beneficial advice. But through all this difficult spiritual journey, I realized He had always been guiding me, loving me, and protecting me -I just couldn't see it or notice it before because of all the noise and chaos in my head. Ask for His help and guidance and He will surely help you! Read the lives of various famous saints, and you will realize that the spiritual path is never easy (sometimes it can be very painful), but it is definitely the most rewarding, the most noble, the most beautiful, and the most fulfilling. There is nothing in this world more important or more worth pursuing than a close relationship and communion with God. I wish you find peace, love and happiness in the Lord. I pray for you.
Amalot - I am praying for you (I started last night). Try to go to mass and have communion every Sunday, and if possible join some Catholic group (Bible study, prayer group, etc.). This will be very helpful. Feed your mind with the Truth (read inspiring books, watch positive T.V. shows and movies, hang out with practicing Catholics). Avoid focusing to much on the news, navigating in negative Internet sites, reading hateful comments, or hanging out with negative influences. Remember: what you expose your mind to most, that you become. You will see the difference! God bless you!

Great video once again, Fr Mike!
Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving...
Great video Fr Mike
Thank you because you gave me a bit of the perspective I needed.
Thank you for this very helpful video!☺
Meditate on 'Balance'.....
But we love the wink 😉
Think you 😇
And we should think of "The process of completing from the two edges and the Increase" Theory ,That is the true faith Christianity.
Keep the wink Father Mike!
Good point there
I'm some what new into faith or atleast starting too take it seriously.. I'm slowly finding my way but sadly struggling with the basics and understanding of the basic terms and practises, but I'm sure I'll get there
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, on your intelligence do not reply. In all your ways be mindful of him and he will make straight your path. Proverb 3 : 5 - 6 .
God! This is right in time... I so needed it.
Thanks Fr. Mike. God bless *wink* hahahaha
Awww, I LIKE the wink! 😉
Thank you Fr. Mike for sharing your heart and wisdom on TH-cam. I live in the Netherlands and provided subtitles in Dutch. We are in need for teaching....specialy.....practical teaching in small formats. The young ones here are helped with the Dutch subtitles.....and not only the younger, elderly too. There is one thing, it must be accepted by your editors. I translated until now 5 episodes......so please, can you make it available? Our prayers for protection and peace are with you.

Well, honestly, I prefer the wink. It's friendly, inviting and fun-ish, which I think Priests could use a lot more of in people's minds (they're friendly, not bad/mean/evil).
Hi father Mike I have a question I am working on getting confirmed in the Catholic Church can I still go to confession if I am not catholic yet
..working on making "balancing" look easy..
❤❤❤
Hello Father,
Would you be willing to do other video about the Law of Exposure ? You talked about it in the "response to the mma video" Maybe a whole video about this subject ? :)
God bless you! And thank you for all your wonderful videos and Ascension Presents team! #askfathermike #ascensionpresents
they usually don't do it in Europe haha ^^
my mum always says: all we have to do is die. xD I love how you explain this. whatever you do, do the right things and you're on the save side, even it's not every right thing.
love from austria! (not australia)
Father Mike! You need to balance your life by becoming Jon Hamm's stunt double! :)
Are there any videos of F. Mike talking about repentance ? Im looking for practical tips for repenting
I think way too many women think they can have it all. Untrue. A mom's vocation is being a mom, and raising her kids. Her kids were not meant to be sent elsewhere. They are meant to be home with MOM. If a woman wants a career, she should not have kids. Make a choice Mom
How do you always make a video when I need it most?
Just a question, but how would spending money on thinking’s you are passionate about be a poor use of the money?
Thank you, Anne. Will check it out. :)
I think you would get a lot out of Bishop Barron's Catholicism series. It explains so much and in a very beautiful way.
Can u talk about people with authority in the church that don't preach the church's true teachings
Father Mike, Could you please do a video about serving in the military and stuff like that. Thanks
Yet another thing that makes me think I need to quit my job in order to be a Christian.
No, the wink was very good. I say it stays.
Is it normal to always feel lost?
Who said it's wrong to wink?
The Minnesota Nice is strong with this one.
It's in the book of Ephesians
jkklafs Really? Do you have any idea where? (It's OK if you don't, I'm always forgetting where)
It might help to provide an exact reference. I'm pretty sure I had never seen or heard a "Thou shalt not wink and point"
Luna Lovegood
I'm sorry. Tryna be funny 🤷🏽♀️ ignore my lame attempt at humor
I like the wink ;)
Luz Clara Thankyou so much for your kindness. I'm in tears of joy!
