Amazing lesson. I've been putting real effort into nailing down my understanding of the Major scale. I have the stumpiest little finger in the world though, so the three notes per string patterns are a real challenge.

I need to spend some time learning more about the major scale....especially for chord information, etc. But since starting guitar back in january, I've been playing the A minor pentatonic. In fact, I learned and played the A minor pentatonic for about 2 1/2 months before I even started learned chords (because chords killed my fingers....LOL). I learned the A minor Pentatonic all across the neck from head to body. I now use it to warm up everytime I begin my practice. I never shifted the boxes for other minor pentatonic but I understand the process. But from the perspective of understand chord notes, intervals, triads, etc, I need to spend time working with the major and minor scales.
    Thanks for this great video!

Love the way you teach. Thanks from Texas. I don’t know much so I have to ask, the image labeled C major 2 octaves shows shows 3, 5, 9 down the side. Should that nine be a 7? Thx

Ricky, I really appreciate your videos. One of the things I've run into is that I've always played R&R which is typically in a minor key. Then, I started playing Contemporary Christian Music and it's almost exclusively in major keys. This forced me to rethink my approach. I can immediately see a G major as E minor, or C major as A minor, etc. However, I would really like to get out of that rut of trying to relate majors to minors. There are some keys, like E major that I don't immediately relate to a C# minor. I would really like to break out of this paradigm and just see things for what they are. I would pay money for you to help me through this line of thinking. When I think of A maj, I want to think of A maj, nor F# minor, etc! Please help me break out of this!
