    Beautiful, flowing and deadly art. I read somewhere that Dan Inosanto loves this so much because even after all the other styles/combat systems he's trained in(including JKD) he said that he's never found a more complete system of martial arts anywhere than FMA, especially Lacoste's system.

    From someone who isn't too knowledgeable on Fillipino martial arts it's looks to me more like a combination of Wing chun, wrestling and Muay Thai. Just with a bit more street aggression. Pretty cool, this and Judo are awesome arts I'd like to also study one day.

      It's what would happen if you cross-bred Silat and Wing Chun lmao
      In Wing Chun, a big part of the theory is to overpower the centerline while defending your own. Economy of motion, favoring bone structure and center of gravity over raw muscle strength.
      In Silat and a lot of Filipino fighting, a big part is retention and manipulation of the joints. Using your opponent's momentum and anatomy against them. Like in Wing Chun, Silat tends to take advantage of physics and human anatomy (using opposing forces to lock different joints or limbs in place).

    Amazing how many ppl have judgments on what works and what doesn't, when its a demo and in reality it would be more controlled with footwork and accurate striking just like every other striking method, boxing is very effective and dirty boxing all the better. oh and by the way i have trained in since 1978 Boxing, Several Striking Styles, including this one, BJJ, JKD Muay Thai and have fought prof for 15 years as well as in the street, I currently train MMA professionals and if your open to learning you will see if trained correct and practiced with contact many things will work just my 2 cents. God Bless

    And panuntukan is the open hand style of escrima which is created to kill an opponent in 2-5 moves.

    People!! They teach it to soldiers! Quit all this won't work in a real street fight BS. Kali is a killing art! It has been used in battlefield combat for hundreds of years, same with Silat. I bet 90% of these people here on TH-cam don't even study a martial art. They just watch UFC and think they're an expert. South East Asian martial arts are deadly. Have some respect for the people who actually do train in martial arts.

      Hi there, I’m an Arnis practitioner, yes you’re right. It is a deadly art close ancestors to silat. Many moves or techniques are extremely useful in every situations. I can say it’s an art for war because it has been used against Spanish invaders. Those idiots here only talks on what they see or watch. They don’t experience it. By the way, I also learned Krav Maga and as well as Judo. Arnis weaponry systems are quite scary and I love it. Yes you’re right, soldier do learned this. Actually any martial art useful and that totally depends on you... Fun facts, Arnis has been used in several Hollywood stunts movies. Nightwing, Batman’s sidekicks trains Arnis to combat crimes in the Gotham city.

    I should fucking learn that. It looks more effective and better for a Street Fight, its a fast way to incapacitate the opponent giving you a chance to run especially if its not a one-on-one fight.

    It will heavily influence MMA strikers in the next 5 years. But still needs to weed out some more impractical movements . Many can be used - especially in counters or closing the distance . As of now much Santukahn and panantucan is training with more karate style 1 for 1 drills - and don’t spar enough- The closest I’ve seen so far for MMA is Daniel Sullivan style - drills

    • @pagioartor3434
      @pagioartor3434 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can't apply 100% of Panantukan street fight in an mma tournament because of several restrictions. No headbutts, no chokes, no eyes piercing and more, that are included in the dirty arsenals of this fighting style. That's why it's also called dirty fighting style. One more thing we need to understand is that panuntukan and other FMAs were conceptualize to counter bigger opponents since Filipinos are smaller compared to other races. That explain the sneaky attacks and close range combat, that's the main characteristics of these styles (FMAs). But it can help an mma fighter improve his/her striking abilities. But try to use these techniques in an underground street fights where there are no holds barred and you can be king.

      @hans. No I am not, but you dont need to be a street fighter pro to see what I mean. Not that I say all of these shown techniques/defences/attacks wouldnt work, but ive seen many that really wouldnt. I may be wrong, as I am not a master of these techniques, if so, I am sorry to offend someone. But thats just my opinion which I build by seing many professionals trying to use theire defence techniques on real "enemies". Reality seems different if the opponent starts to move unpredictably, is not slow like a snail and does not tell you where he will hit next. Look at the scenes with slow motion and you will see, that at someparts the opponent did even not punch direct enough to hit someone or for example moves with your legs to destabilize the opponent which are impossible in a real street fight, just to name a few. Try to grap someones arm after or even while he trys to punch you. He will resist in a way that you impossibly could predict a 100% and even if your right, the resistans the opponent will have in a real fight isnt shown in any of these scenes. I hope you can understand my distrust in some of these moves, while on other hand I see that there are also really good ones. ut the rest, just good for Hollywood movies, sorry.

      It is called dirty boxing as such because like in boxing the fighter uses fists but in addition it has techniques considered illegal inside the boxing ring but it doesn't matter in the street or combat. Much like the Chinese kung fu fighters who were called boxers by the Europeans because they use fists in fights or battles in the absence of man made weapons like sword or spear or daggers. This is Panuntukan (simply called suntukan), the Filipino empty hand technique of self-defense handed down by generations of warriors of my country since even before the dawn of the Spanish period.
