  • Hey guys! In this video I share how I use the Hoya Close up filters to get macro/detail shots. I have these filters in the 77mm size and they came in a pack of 3 filters: +1 , +2, and +4 magnifications. Have you tried using close up filters for photography before?

    Hey. Thanks for the question.
    As for ND filters it's gear to the type of job ur shooting. My personal fav are Hoya Gradual ND filters for most of my landscape work. It saves on time and money. But...... some applications call for individual filters and that's for specific work and when your looking to make adjustments in post. It all depends on the personal shooter and time and money. Luke I said, my personal choice is Hoya Gradual ND filters. Saves me time and money. But individual can give you more control on your style of work.
    Take care, happy shooting!

    How do these impact your minimum focus distance/infinity? Like could you leave this on your lens full time? Let's use 85mm as an example. They usually have a minimum focus distance of around 3ft, could you effectively reduce that and still maintain normal functionality of the lens?

    • @Joymichelle
      @Joymichelle  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, you can’t kept them on the lens and still use the lens like you normally would (I’m pretty sure that’s what you mean here!)

    Hi, I have a M43 camera and a 42.5 mm lens which is equivalent to 85mm in 35mm format. I sometimes need to use a lens closer to the 10-20mm range, distances in the 2-3 ft range. This is for non professional use.
    Could I use a close up or other 67mm filter / lens to have something like this? Thank you.

    Hi Joy, a couple of quick questions. How does using close up filters affect depth of field or is that still simply a function of the f stop used? And secondly how is using close up filters any better than than taking a high resolution picture and zooming right in? I'd value your comments. Mike

    Sorry - I just watched this - I have a question. I attached my macro lens to my camera lens and I can't get it to focus. What am I doing wrong? I have a Sony A65, and I attached the filter to the box 55mm.

    • @Joymichelle
      @Joymichelle  4 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @ralicapopova6074
    @ralicapopova6074 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hey Joy, I was just wondering if the lens gives the ability to shift the focus, I mean you can get closer to the object(above the optimal distance for focusing) and still get focused image, right?

    Hi Joy, ok so, I don’t have a macro lens, I have a 85 f1.4 and a 24-70 f2.8. Out of these two lenses which would you say would be best to pair with macro filters for ring shots ?

    • @Joymichelle
      @Joymichelle  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the 24-70 would work best! But I'm not sure without knowing more about their F stops and details :)

    Amazing! Do you need a 2+ filter when you have a 4+? Can 4+ focus on the distance that the 2+ focuses?

    • @Joymichelle
      @Joymichelle  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you want it to be a little less magnified you would use +2 but you could easily get by with just 1 filter. I find that each lens i use these with has a different focusing distance depending on the lens focal length to begin with

    Hey Joy! This is super helpful! I did have a quick question though, it looks like you just hold these filters up to your lens. Do you have to screw them on to the front of the lens or does simply holding them in front of it do the trick?

    • @Joymichelle
      @Joymichelle  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can work them either way. If they fit the filter size of the lens I'm using, I will screw them on, but most of the time they dont fit the exact lens I'm using so I just hold them up

    • @Joymichelle

      A macro will give you clearer optic results but you cannot beat the price of these filters. You can get around having to invest in a very expensive lens early on by using these filters which is why I love them. I have a macro lens that I use as well :)

    Hey Joy! I see you're just holding the filters up to the lens, bc they are larger. Does that work just as efficient as getting filters that fit the lens (assuming it does lol)? I have a bunch of first communion shoots coming up, and I want to get close ups of their rosaries, but not sure which lens I'll want to use come time.. so before I buy, double checking if I were to just got 77mm filters would that give me flexibility to use them on any lens. Thanks :)

    • @Joymichelle
      @Joymichelle  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes!! I bought them in the larger size so that I could use them on the smaller lenses by just free holding them and it works out well for me. I’m sure the resolution is not quite as sharp as a traditional macro lens or if it was fitted on through the filter threading‘s but I’m happy with the results and I think you will be able to get what you’re looking for!
