- The Wire in Srinagar at Lal Chowk on May 12, 2024 in the afternoon around 1:06 pm was speaking to people to get a sense of the election and the issues involved. Two policemen can be seen coming up to The Wire's Arfa Khanum Sherwani and the Srinagar resident, and ensuring that the recording is stopped. The Wire has reported on candidates and supporters being threatened and stopped from campaigning, some political workers have also said they have been detained for several hours. This is an instance of how now even routine journalistic work in the UT's capital is being obstructed. This is the first election in the erstwhile state after Article 370 was read down in 2019.

In 2011 while on my Srinagar vacation I met a local kashmiri man infront of Nishat bagh. The day was 26th October. We entered into discussion and he said we (kashmir) will get azadi in 10 years time I told him it will never happen. It is 13 years since then but I don't have any contact details of that man otherwise I would have asked him about 10 years.

This is the reason u will not find any intro of kashmiri on u tube..we are seeing this from last 70 year .. that is why we don't consider Kashmir as a part of India.. freedom does not only seperation from a country but ,we should freedom to speak what is happening with us , there should be rule of law, there should be an acceptance of what has happened in past and try to resolve those issues and what the indian ary has done with Kashmiri people......

A lady Rajya Sabha member was viciously assaulted right in the CM office by the CMs Personal Secretary. Arfa Khanum - as a woman - should spend her journalistic energies on this incident and expose the culprits . And, not waste time on Kashmir and Article 370 !

Just two low ranking policemen exceeded their brief and obstructed the interview - nothing much ! Arfa Khanum still got the opportunity to upload the video clip to highlight the actions of the two policemen ! Seriously no one will taking this as suppression of Journalistic freedom, the WIRE needs to come up with something better to prove that dictatorship exists in India as claimed by them !
