I took notes while listening for my own reading this week!

One of the best things about Curse of Strahd is the Tarroka. It is a great moment for many reasons. We just had our Tarroka reading with my CoS group and I'm excited to see where it goes.

Awesome! And 100% agreed-it's really a major highlight of the campaign. Which cards did your PCs draw?

      Tome: 4 of Coins
      Symbol: 1 of Swords
      Sunsword: 2 of Glyphs
      Ally: The Seer
      Strahd: Horseman

@@sin_pyro Ooh - Ravenloft, Argynvostholt, the Abbey, Kasimir, and Strahd's Tomb. Sounds like a great run!

Did you randomize the reading in keeping with the RAW approach? If so, how do you feel about it? It seems that having the tome in castle ravenloft would be difficult for players to reach, and it seems unlikely Strahd would just let them waltz away with it.

I did! It's 100% randomized. I feel like it worked out to create a pretty interesting storyline-it definitely seems that the draw of the random reading is to create really novel, emergent gameplay each time someone runs the campaign. I don't know that I'd do it in a non-RAW campaign, but for the purposes of a RAW game, I think it works out really nicely.

Not sure if he randomized them or not, but the cards were definitely prepared beforehand.

@@DragnaCarta interesting, that does sound like it mixes things up. Certianly will give your players more incentive to take Strahd up on his dinner invitation!
I do really like Davian as the destined ally. Most people (myself included) fudge the reading to be Ez or Richten but bringing a curmudgeonly old bird-man along sounds really hilarious

Can I ask how you did this animation?

    • @DragnaCarta

We did it in Foundry! I set up a scene for each card flip - you can find more information here: www.reddit.com/r/CurseofStrahd/comments/m6b6xa/how_to_run_madam_evas_tarokka_reading_like_a_boss/
